Lanny is the one that should be ashamed.....riding the gravy train on the body of his dead brother. He has been doing this all over the country with "Memorial " shows honoring his brother. It is sleaze...period....with regards to POWW, they are doing it for the money. What this does, is cheapen the others in their HOF. But, this is the same show in which POWW is charging a hundred bucks for the privilege of a fan to walk one of their wrestlers to the ring. Which is worse? Or is it a tie?

I remember when Macho Man passed away earlier in the year someone made some pompous ass remark about how only a company like ROH should be allowed to do a tribute event for Randy Savage while every other company that planned to do a tribute event or even a 10 bell salute in his honor were scumbags.
A few folks out there have their opinions on Macho Man being inducted into there Hall of Fames, tribute show or whatever the case may be.
I am only speaking for myself and i realize that there will be those who agree with me or disagree and that certainly is your perogative. I have known Jimmy Blaze since early 1990's and just in my dealings with Jimmy i have never seen nor been a part of the man doing a dishonest thing. I can say the same thing about Lanny Poffo, in fact i will say that the entire Poffo family are top shelf folks.
I was close to running Downers Grove North H.S. the school where both Randy and Lanny attended and have their dad Angelo on the event as well many years ago but due to the then organization that was going to run the event wanting more that could be taken in it never happened. It was no guarantee tha Randy was even going to work the event but i still would have brought in Lanny and Angelo and the event would have still did great business because of the Poffo family homecoming.
Hall of Fames from every sport have some controversial inductees as members such as Babe Ruth. Babe Ruth probably saved Major League baseball after the 1919Black Sox scandal and dressed up as Santa Claus and also visited many childrens hospitals. The dark side of Babe Ruth was is that he was kind of the Charlie Sheen of his day plus he was buds with Al Capone and it is said that when The Yankees were playing at Comiskey Park, from time to time The Babe would take a quick run across the street to one of the bars down a few shots of whiskey and then run back across the street to the ball park. Hack Wilson, OJ Simpson, Ty Cobb ( a huge racist ) are just a small sampling of questionable athletes enshrined in their respective H.O.F.
After the 1994 baseball season was shut down, baseball was loosing attendance and tv ratings and popularity but then the roid crew of Sammy Sosa, Mark Mcguire, and Barry Bonds all led a resurgence to the game much like Babe Ruth and all 3 probably not in our lifetimes never be inducted into the H.O.F. just like Pete Rose.
Just tossing my 2 cents in like it or lump it.

Good post Sonny. I never meant to imply that Jimmy and/or Lanny are crooks. I just think it is vulgar. I think that the Guerrero family is vulgar for the way the exploited Eddies death. We all know that if Savage did not die, he would not be in any HOF. The fact that he is after his death is simply exploitation. Just my opinion.

Not at all Pete.
The poster before u posted was the target i was responding to. I know and realize that both of u have a few issues with Jimmy and POWW and i respect your thoughts. If a portion of the house taken in is contributed to Macho Man' favorite charity when he was alive on behalf of Lanny then i sincrely hope that Lanny hits all 50 states and even some international citys to raise money for the cause.

I went over all of the posts on this thread and I did not see any mention of money going to charity. I have not read that anyplace else. If I am wrong, then I stand corrected.

Sponsorship is ok.As long as it's done professionally.Alot of fans would love the chance to walk out with their favorite wrestler.I did it last year. But won't be going to any more POWW shows.;)I'm actually slowing down about going to all the shows. There are too many to chose from.lol

Really your going to induct Macho Man and post his picture all over your flyers and posters in order to try and sell a ticket. Never again will I attend a POWW show.....this is pathetic and shameful. Sure his brother is inducting but that does not stop it from being a joke. I see people bashing other promotions for running in certain buildings. This right here is just ridiculous. People think WWE's HOF is a joke.....take a look at this INDY fed and you will see what a joke really looks like. Even his brother....how could he be a HOF for POWW? Has he had a long career with this promotion? No...... Talk about a slimy move by the promoter Sir, with all due respect, the Pofo family was very helpful to Jimmy Blaze behind the scenes in his early career. Especially the people who trained him. The Pofo's are legendary in Chicago. They are from Downer's Grove. Even when you look at the way Blaze wrestles in the ring, you'll notice certain movements in the execution of moves that are similar to Savage and her brother. This is me speaking from personal experience having seen things myself behind the scenes in the early days and NOT me speaking for Jimmy. I assure you that if you go to the show, introduce yourself to Jimmy after the show and talk to him. Heck, I don't know how available Pofo might be, but I'm sure you could ask him yourself about how influential this family has been. This is not only a POWW Hall Of Fame, but a Hall Of Fame that encompasses the entire region, much like the one Stan Pain had established with Nickie Sixx and Buddha The Beast in the old WAR promotion and with Joey B in Stars and Stripes Wrestling. I've teased the living sh*t out of Jimmy Blaze in the past but I assure you, Jimmy is as good as they come. He and also the people he's surrounded himself with. His only weakness is that in real life he's shown kindness to too many people, some of which he should have piledriven. No matter. It's the measure of a man.

If you haven't seen it already, my pro wrestling column for 11/11's Weekend magazine in the SouthtownStar featured POWW's Jimmy Blaze on Kip James, B.G. James and Sean Waltman at Wrestle Rage IX on 11/12 in Villa Park. You can check that out at: southtownstar.suntimes.com/entertainment/virtusio/8717757-452/poww-prepares-for-wrestlerage-ix.htmlAlso, if you haven't seen it already, my latest Pro Wrestling Extra article on my Elaborating on Entertainment blog features POWW's Jimmy Blaze talking about WrestleRage IX with Kip James, B.G. James and Sean Waltman on 11/12 in Villa Park. You can check out the blog article at this link, where I hope you will leave a comment: blogs.southtownstar.com/entertainment/2011/11/pro_wrestling_extra_a_conversa_42.htmlFeel free to pass along the link to others who you think might want to share their comments about this topic. A few notes about using the "Leave a comment" feature on the blog:-- While there is a field asking you to provide your e-mail address, that e-mail address will not be shown to the public once your comment is posted. -- The grey Captcha box sometimes trips up people because it's hard to see and very particular about the characters being typed in exactly. To be on the safe side, you should copy your text elsewhere before hitting the Submit button in case the Captcha kicks out your comment. -- If you've used the "Leave a comment" feature correctly, you'll get a message saying that your submission is pending approval.
