This Friday night AAW kicks off the biggest wrestling weekend in Chicago with “EPIC” the 8th Anniversary show. This week we’ll take a closer look at the card starting with a huge Title Match. AAW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE ( C ) w/ Val Malone VSSo far in 2012 AAW has begun to see a new crop of young talent emerge and really start to make an impact on the cards. One of the leaders of this movement has been the East Lansing, Michigan native Louis Lyndon. Lyndon has split two ultra competitive matches with Shane Hollister in recent months and is coming off a huge win at 115 Bourbon St in a six way mayhem match that stole the show. Now Lyndon gets the biggest opportunity of his career thus far when he takes on the AAW Heavyweight Champion Silas Young. What else can be said about the Champion Silas Young? Cunning, technical, precise, tough, arrogant, and above all dominate are all words that come to mind when looking back at the last three years of Young’s AAW run. No matter how far he is pushed it seems Silas always finds a way to leave with the title and a shining example of this was last month in his controversial title defense against Michael Elgin where Val Malone got involved and seemingly cost Elgin the title. This Friday night Silas Young faces a unique challenge in Louis Lyndon who’s unorthodox blend of traditional mat wrestling, Brazilian Ju-Jitsu and drunken Kung Fu have caused fits for many of his opponents. Can Silas Young once again retain and continue his unprecedented run or will Louis Lyndon usher in a new era for AAW? www.AAWrestling.com

AAW and SHIMMER take over the Berwyn Eagles Club this weekend and it all starts Friday night when AAW celebrates it’s 8th Anniversary. On the card is a big rematch with the AAW Tag Titles on the line. AAW TAG TEAM TITLES ( C ) VSThe Irish AirborneBack in January the “odd couple” team of Jimmy Jacobs and Arik Cannon was formed and unexpectedly defeated the Irish Airborne for the AAW Tag Team Titles. They followed up with a successful title defense last month against BJ Whitmer and Mat Fitchett. However there seems to be a constant running tension between the two AAW veterans. Remember it was only a few months ago that Jacobs and Cannon were beating each other bloody in the Eagles Club. The Irish Airborne want their belts back. They claim it was a fluke that they dropped them to Cannon and Jacobs and Friday night they get to prove it in this rematch. The Crist brothers mean business and want nothing more than to bring gold back to Silas Young’s stable. Can Cannon and Jacobs keep it together for another victory or will Irish Airborne become two time AAW Tag Champs? Expect all four men to go all out in what may turn into a wild affair. www.AAWrestling.com

Just a few days away now as AAW kicks off a gigantic weekend of wrestling in Berwyn when we celebrate our 8th Anniversary. Now let’s take a look at a very personal grudge match. LUMBERJACK MATCH w/ Scarlett VS It was back at the Windy City Classic where Gregory Iron pinned Shane Hollister and eliminated him from contention for the AAW Heavyweight Title match later that night. Hollister had already been on a downward spiral but this loss and some “words of encouragement” from Scarlett caused him to snap. As Iron made his way to the ring for the Main Event Hollister attacked from behind and issued a vicious brain buster on the floor that left Iron laying and left him without his own shot at the title. Last month in a tag team match Iron and Colt Cabana took on Hollister and J. Miller. As the match went on it was apparent Hollister wanted no part of Gregory Iron one on one. In fact Hollister left ringside during the match and Miller was left alone to take the fall. Now this Friday night there will be nowhere to run as AAW has signed a lumberjack match where the locker room will surround the ring to ensure we get a clear cut winner and to ensure Iron gets his chance at revenge. Iron has showed a fire we have never seen from him before in this feud and you can bet he’s counting down the hours until he meets the man who tried to end his career face to face this Friday night. www.AAWrestling.com

$1.25 for beer? A whole quarter more than before?!? Madness I tell you. BTW I'm just trying to start another argument for the next several messages. Duly noted. That is their first price increase in, like, forever.

If you haven't seen it already, my Pro Wrestling Pick for 3/16's Weekend magazine in the SouthtownStar features SHIMMER's DVD tapings for Volumes 45-48 set for 3/17 and 3/18 in Berwyn. You can check that out at: southtownstar.suntimes.com/entertainment/virtusio/11264229-452/pro-wrestling-pick-shimmer-women-athletes-more.htmlAlso, if you haven't seen it already, my latest Pro Wrestling Extra article on my Elaborating on Entertainment blog features SHIMMER's Dave Prazak talking about the live DVD tapings for Volumes 45-48 on 3/17 and 3/18 in Berwyn. The article also includes information on AAW's Epic: The 8th Anniversary Event on 3/16 in Berwyn. You can check out the blog article at the following link, where I hope you will leave a comment: blogs.southtownstar.com/entertainment/2012/03/pro_wrestling_extra_a_conversa_57.htmlA few notes about using the "Leave a comment" feature on the blog:-- While there is a field asking you to provide your e-mail address, that e-mail address will not be shown to the public once your comment is posted. -- The grey Captcha box sometimes trips up people because it's hard to see and very particular about the characters being typed in exactly. To be on the safe side, you should copy your text elsewhere before hitting the Submit button in case the Captcha kicks out your comment. -- If you've used the "Leave a comment" feature correctly, you'll get a message saying that your submission is pending approval. Note: I approve all non-spam comments as soon as I see they have been submitted. Feel free to pass along the links to others who you think might want to share their comments about this topic.
