If you haven't checked out my pro wrestling column in today's (3/05) SouthtownStar, the article appears on Page 18 of Fifty-Two Weekends, the newspaper's Thursday entertainment magazine, and includes comments from IWA Mid-South officials about "2009 King of the Death Matches." You can check out the online version of the article at: www.southtownstar.com/entertainment/firstlook/virtusio/1458171,030509ProWrestling.article Since print space was restricted this week, my "Elaborating on Entertainment" blog features additional comments from IWA Mid-South officials on the promotion's events this weekend. You can check out that blog topic, titled "Pro Wrestling Extra: IWA Mid-South, VWAA tournaments," at: blogs.southtownstar.com/entertainment/2009/03/pro-wrestling-extra-iwa-midsou.htmlA few notes about using the "Leave a comment" feature on the blog: -- While there is a field asking you to provide your e-mail address, that e-mail address will not be shown to the public once your comment is posted. -- The grey Captcha box sometimes trips up people because it's hard to see and very particular about the characters being typed in exactly. To be on the safe side, you should copy your text elsewhere before hitting the Submit button in case the Captcha kicks out your comment. -- If you've used the "Leave a comment" feature correctly, you'll get a message saying that your submission is pending approval. Note: I approve all non-spam comments as soon as I see they have been submitted. If you're wondering where you can buy the print edition of the SouthtownStar, you can find retail locations at the below link, which includes spots in Alsip, Beecher, Blue Island, Bridgeview, Burbank, Burr Ridge, Calumet City, Calumet Park, Chicago Heights, Chicago Ridge, Country Club Hills, Crestwood, Crete, Darien, Dolton, Evergreen Park, Flossmoor, Frankfort, Glenwood, Harvey, Hazel Crest, Hickory Hills, Hinsdale, Homer Glen, Hometown, Homewood, Joliet, Justice, Lansing, Lemont, Lockport, Manhattan, Markham, Matteson, Midlothian, Mokena, Monee, New Lenox, Oak Forest, Oak Lawn, Olympia Fields, Orland Park, Palos Heights, Palos Hills, Palos Park, Park Forest, Peotone, Richton Park, Robbins, Romeoville, Shorewood, South Holland, Steger, Summit, Thornton, Tinley Park, University Park, Willow Springs and Worth. www.southtownstar.com/aboutus/1007978,061608paperboxes.article Other locations where you can find vending boxes can be found at the following link, which includes spots in some of the towns above as well as Crest Hill and Plainfield. www.southtownstar.com/aboutus/1008171,0616vendingboxes.article

From IWA:MS Forum:
2009 King Of The Death Matches (Joliet, IL)
- The 16 men have been introduced to the crowd and we are ready to get underway with the opening match.
- Place is said to be packed.
Non Tournament Action -
Juice Robinson def. EZE following a cross body off the top. Very good showing from Juice Robinson in this one. Crowd doesn't want EZE to come back so that is self explanitory.
Jimmy Jacobs def. Ego Fantastico following The Endtime. Back and forth action all the way through. Ego Missed a moonsault and Jacobs locked him in The Endtime.
- Following the match, Ian invited Ego to the TPI.
First tourny matchup under way.
xOMGx def. Devon Moore Barbwire Tables and Ladders with Carribean Spiderwebs.
- The 2008 Winner is out in round one.
Danny Havoc def Elkview Adam in A Barefoot sh*t You Don't Want To Step On match following a Snowplow into the ornament tops, thumbtacks, and glass.
Dingo def. Elgin IWA Title with Old School IWA Rules. Hard hitting back and forth action with multiple uses of a chain and IWA World Title. Dingo wins by choking out Elgin using the chain.
Ian then reminds Dingo of his match tomorrow with Eddie Kingston.
*Intermission*
Ian announces that on October 2 IWA will hold it's 2009 Double Death tournament in Joliet. The next night IWA will celebrate its 13th Anniversary also in Joliet.
Dysfunction def. Viper in a Barbwire Canvas and Lightbulbs match following a double stomp super kick combo.
Mad Man Pondo def. Nate Webb in a Bed of Nails and Anything With Nails On Them Match. This match was disgusting. Watching them using that bed of nails is sick.
Afterwards Ian thanked Nate Webb and invited him to the 2009 TPI.
During Ian's speech, DJ Hyde comes out and demands the microphone. DJ goes on a tirade against the fans and calls all of them and the juggalos pussies and this brings a fuming Corporal Robinson out to start off this Thumbtack Madness match.
Corporal Robinson def. DJ Hyde following The Bootcamp.
Masada def. Tank in a Barbwire Board Taipei Deathmatch by putting some sharp pointy objects in Tank's head and hitting him with a chair. Absolute slugfest.
*Intermission*
The ring crew has taken down the ropes and is now putting chains up instead of ropes.
This is a Deep Six Deathmatch. There are chains and barbwire on two sides of the ring with fish hooks on them with the other two sides no rope barbwire.
Thumbtack Jack vs Nick Gage.
Thumbtack jack did a dive through the wire and part of his hair is hanging off of the wire.
Thumbtack Jack def Nick Gage following Drake's landing. Match of the f**k**g year.
Necro Butcher def. Bull Pain in a No Rope Barbwire Carribean Spiderweb Glass match. Bull slammed Necro into the spiderweb and Necro started to choke him out. Bull Pain could not answer the refs three count and the match was over. Afterwards Bull Pain ddt'ed Ref Junkyard Jones.
Ian then announced that all the losers tonight would be back in non tourney action tomorrow along with:
Necro Butcher vs Danny Havoc xOMGx vs Dysfunction Masada vs Corporal Robinson Mad Man Pondo vs Thumbtack Jack
That's concludes Night 1 of The 2009 King of the Deathmatches.
