Sorry, that's not what makes a title a "world" title. A world title has to physically be defended outside the country. Until that happens I'm only going to refer to it as the heavyweight title.

Yeah. You lay down the law Crimey. Don't take sh*t from no one. Their business will dwindle so fast when you talk about this for 17 minutes on the NBS podcast.

My sweet lord in Heaven. It really scares me that some people take everything in this fantasy world so seriously. If we booked shows for "smart"(?) fans we would be out of business relatively quickly.
The first time an 8 years old comes up to me at a DREAMWAVE show and says "I would like to discuss the validity of your use of the word "World" in reference to your championship" I will denounce my involvement in the wrestling business immediately.

After Pat Patterson won the Intercontinental Title in the legendary Rio de Janero tournament, I can't recall the IC belt ever being defended in South America until perhaps a recent WWE tour. And that title never lost its legitimacy. I'm just sayin'.

I was simply just asking, I meant no offense by it. I just thought that was what made it a World title, and I thought you guys specifically said you weren't using the "Heavyweight" tag. But I also said I thought I could be wrong, I remember someone doin it and I thought it was you guys. Considering Nick Brubaker probably isnt a Heavyweight. [not to be picky, just curious]

[not to be picky, just curious] I wasn't specifically talking to you. It was more directed towards the general negativity and pessimistic nature of some of the posters. I just can't imagine doing what we do if all of our fans were "smarks". I was really worried going into our first show since a lot of the old RCW fans weren't around anymore. After I saw the reaction of the legions of kids at our show, I couldn't imagine our existence without them. It really made me appreciate people who come to a show just to have fun and not give every single match a star rating.

Let me be crystal clear to you all who continue to look down on me as someone who has no clue what he's talking about. It's not what *I* say makes a title a world title, the national wrestling industry ONLY considers a certain number of titles as world titles, period. You can call your belts world titles all you want, but it does not make them so. You can send a letter to the editors of PWI, the webmasters of 411mania.com, DOI, the Wrestling Observer, Wrestling Torch, etc. saying you have a world title but they will tell you that your belt is NOT a legitimate world title. WWE, TNA, ROH, NWA, Chikara ... have actual world titles that have been defended outside of the United States. Your belt hasn't been defended outside of the LaSalle-Peru area. So it's not a world title, and the national wrestling news organizations will tell you the exact same thing.
BTW, no one would get away with another phantom Rio De Jinero title change in this day in age without a ton of scrunity.

WWE, TNA, ROH, NWA, Chikara ... have actual world titles. I can't see where anyone but the first two can actually make that claim.

ROH has run shows in England and Japan and the title was defended there.

And the NWA world title has been defended in other countries, the most recent title change occuring in Mexico. Chikara has been running shows in Japan this week.

now i could be wrong but i don't think dreamwave is calling their title a world title to get pub from 411, pwi, observer, espn, msnbc, or fox news... if anything they do it so the 500 people that come to their shows can maybe suspend their disbelieve. or so monday morning the 8 year olds at the show can go to school and talk about how they saw a world champion on saturday night. seriously its pro wrestling who cares if dreamwave or anyone else wants to call their title a world title..

Agreed that this will never end, and we are not changing the name of the title to appease the internet community, very little of which actually get off their a$$ to go to a show.
YOU can go argue with the editors of PWI, the webmasters of 411mania.com, DOI, the Wrestling Observer, Wrestling Torch, etc; WE are busy having successful wrestling shows.

Agreed that this will never end, and we are not changing the name of the title to appease the internet community I don't recall anybody asking you to. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and you're correct in your stance. It shouldn't matter if you call your strap a World title, a LaSalle-Peru title or the Intergalactic Supreme Championship of the Universe - it's your belt, your promotion and your show. Some people (including myself) don't agree with an indy calling their belt a "World title", but so be it. To each their own and who cares what the DOI/PWI loving smarks think.

I would like to discuss the validity of your use of the word "smart" in reference to Crimefighter...
