He should have more than enough money now. He burned Smart Mark Video and sold the library to BOTH RF and Highspots to pay for this TPI after Gabe and DGUSA shunned him. it's funny he booked the Briscoes after calling them " spot monkeys like Lo Ki who don't know how to work"(candido cup 07)

I'm sure as long as the Briscoes are getting paid, they could care less about what the promoter thinks. Money does the most talking in wrestling.
I sound like Nash when I say that. Shame on me.

Our fans have asked for a very long time for what many consider to be the best tag team in wrestling today to be on an IWA show.
Well, you asked for it and now you will receive it because it has been finalized...THE BRISCOE BROTHERS will be on Night 2 of the TPI.
Maybe even better than the fact that The Briscoe Brothers will be making their debut in IWA is who they will be wrestling that night.
The fans in attendance will have the ability to determine what team faces the Briscoes on night two.
Each fan will be given a raffle ticket when they enter on NIGHT ONE. After each first round matchup on Night One, a jar will be made for the loser of the match. At the end of the night, as you leave, you can drop your raffle ticket into one of the jars for whom you would like to see against the Briscoes. The top two vote getters will be teamed together to face the Briscoes on night two.
You the fans asked for the Briscoes. You the fans will get to choose who they wrestle.
We'll see you September 4th at NIGHT ONE of the TPI!!!

Wow, that's an incredible lineup. Definitely going to be there for Night 2. Hopefully, the wrestlers will bring plenty of merchandise to sell. Jimmy Jacobs, Delirious, B-Boy, Prince Mustafa Ali, and Human Tornado, this means YOU! Bring some damn tshirts, I'm sure you would do well if you did! I would much rather see Sheik Abdul Bashir than Egotistico but hopefully Ego will be eliminated on Night One and I won't have to see him AT ALL...just not a fan of sloppy Ego. And the Briscoes on Night 2? Terrific!

EDIT: No OLEing at this TPI or anymore. IWA has announced this show has been cancelled.

It's a shame that a traditional show like this had to be cancelled.

I wonder if one of the other indie feds in this area might pick up the ball here and keep the TPI going...obviously it's too late to keep the original date, but why not do it later this year?
In fact, if I may be so bold, why don't we get a little promotional detente going here and have a few of the local indies do a co-op promotional deal for this event, sharing the financial load and splitting up any profits?
How about it? Discuss.

How about it? Discuss. Because someone would have to be responsible for the booking which means someone will feel their talent is being underbooked or someone else's talent is being overbooked. Because it doesnt make sense for a group of indy feds to get together and book for 100 smart fans who might care to attend this show live or the 200 fans who MIGHT buy a dvd. If this idea was a financial success IWA would still be in business.

If this idea was a financial success IWA would still be in business. Booking is always a tough situation, one I'm sure Jim Kettner deals with when he does the Supter 8 every year...but it can be done and it IS done. As to 'making sense', I think if a few indie feds worked together, it might actually make a few bucks...there's no reason on God's earth a properly promoted and marketed WRESTLING show can't make a few bucks... I don't know nearly enough about the IWA to comment on their situation, but I will say this: One event does not a promotion make or break...

Booking is always a tough situation, one I'm sure Jim Kettner deals with when he does the Supter 8 every year...but it can be done and it IS done. But that's not a multi-promotional deal, is it? I thought it was just an ECWA deal, like TPI is an IWA deal and DDT is a PWG deal, etc.

Yes, I believe you're right, TG, but Kettner's bringing in talent from different places, and I'm sure he faces similar issues that greenpeace was talking about...I've dealt with it first-hand when I've done booking as well...
IMO, in an era where we talk about 'spotfests', 'spot monkeys', and the general lack of quality of WWE/TNA products, it would be nice to use something like the tradition of the TPI to showcase indie talent that understands the meaning of telling a story in the ring...solid work ethic...psychology...and put something out there that not only would be entertaining to the 'smart' fans, but something ALL wrestling fans could enjoy...and if a couple of the indie promoters couldn't work together on the concept, then maybe one should step forward and present it to keep the tradition going...
Just thinking out loud here, all...as much as I'd like to see a co-operative effort, I know (from first hand experience in other areas) how difficult this can be to do...
