Aug. 21st ushered in the new direction for Pro Wrestling NEXT. Drake Younger defended his CZW World Championship by thrashing Hunter Matthews. The Hooligans surprised everyone, most notably the LWA promotion itself, by capturing the LWA tag team championship. Jesse Emerson and Aaron Scott took it to each other in an impressive fashion. Ryan Drago destroyed Brandon "The Kid" O by submission.Samuray Del Sol impressed with his win over the impressive Puerto Rican star, Noriega, and the Tony Kozina/Tim Donst war ended in a shocker, when an unannounced Jaysin Strife hit the ring from out of the crowd and blasted Kozina from behind as it looked like Kozina may have been on the verge of putting Donst out with a sleeperhold.
Also at intermission, it was announced that it would be Davey Richards who would be defending the FIP World Championship on Sept. 12th with an opponent to be announced.
Today we have signed the match that will determine that challenger.
On Sept. 11th, in Decatur, IL. in the semi main event, it will be "The Anarchist" Arik Cannon facing the Canadian standout, Kyle O'Reilly. The winner of that match will go onto Sept. 12th to face Richards for the FIP championship.
Pro Wrestling NEXT has been contacting upcoming talent from across North America. Many of which have never competed on the Mid-West wrestling scene. All of whom are hungry for exposure as they work their way to the top of the wrestling industry. On Sept. 11th our second international piece of talent will be introduced. Coming from Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Former 3-time N.W.A. Canadian Junior Heavyweight Champion, and the 2007 winner of the ECCW/NWA-PNW Pacific Cup tournament, Kyle O'Reilly will begin showcasing his skills under the Pro Wrestling NEXT banner against former IWA Midsouth Heavyweight Champion who was also Chikara's fourth annual Young Lions Cup tournament winner. In November 2006, ARIK CANNON partook in the Wrestling Society X promotion's first season of television tapings, which later aired on MTV. In October 2007, CANNON also went to Japan for a tour with Dragon Gate and was brought into the Muscle Outlawz faction by Naruki Doi along with fellow gaijins Kevin Steen and Jimmy Rave. These two are sure to tear the roof off of the Skywalker Sports complex on September 11th!
We are pleased to announce two more big matches just signed for our Sept. 11th debut in Decatur, IL. Already announced for Sept. 11th is the battle between ARIK CANNON and KYLE O'REILLY to determine who goes on to face DAVEY RICHARDS for the FIP World Championship on Sept. 12th in Davenport.
This morning all confirmations were made and on Sept. 11th, two of the most established wrestlers on the mid-west scene will clash in Decatur. It will be DINGO vs. MARK STERLING, one-on-one. This'll be an important one to watch, as both wrestlers have been finding great success in many promotions throughout the mid-west. Sept. 11th will determine who goes on to face better competition and who falls down the ladder, so to speak. This one may be the hardest hitting match of the night as these two give everything they have to reach the next level.
Two weeks ago, DINGO was on the receiving end of a superkick that rattled his jaw pretty fierce. Last Saturday he continued on, competing in his scheduled match. But after taking several European uppercuts during his bout, it was later discovered that his jaw had dislocated! This afternoon, we were informed that Dingo had no choice but to pull out of his weekend matches. PWN supports his decision to follow doctor's orders to rest and recover.
In the wake of this cancellation an opportunity arises for someone else. That someone else is the man known as "MR. ELITE", JAKE MANNING. On Sept. 11th it will be Jake Manning who will step into the ring against MARK STERLING to see who advances to bigger and better matches. The winner of this match will begin that test on Sept. 12th as they take on a man who has accomplished about as much as there is to accomplish on the North American wrestling scene- TONY KOZINA. The stakes are high for that Sept. 12th showdown, as THAT winner will go on to face the returning JIMMY JACOBS in October. Information on Jacobs return as well as who he will face, will be announced next week!
The second match for Sept. 11th in Decatur, which was confirmed late last night is HUNTER MATTHEWS facing TONY KOZINA. This will be an interesting contest as Matthews has just come off a big loss, and Kozina scored a victory (via DQ) at our Aug. 21st show. Both wrestlers are looking to build momentum as they look to face the top opposition in the months ahead, but only one will surge ahead.
Pro Wrestling NEXT's tag team devision is certainly heating up following the surprising situation that happened on August 21st . Tag teams from all across the country have been contacting members of our management wanting an opportunity to make an impact. On September 12th the LWA tag team titles will be defended as THE HOOLIGANS invade Davenport once again.
Their challengers Will be determined on September 11th when THE NORTHSTAR EXPRESS goes head to head with the former LWA tag team champions THE SUBMISSION SQUAD. This match will have a special significance for THE SUBMISSION SQUAD to reestablish a foothold on their quest to reclaim their tag team titles as THE NORTHSTAR EXPRESS looks to become a dominant force in PWN.
Coming from Charlotte, North Carolina. MR. ELITE JAKE MANNING will make his debut to PRO WRESTLING NEXT on September 11th and 12th. He will make his long awaited Midwest return as he has been on a tear in the Mid-Atlantic area for the last few years.
Pro Wrestling NEXT is pleased to announce that on Sept. 11th and Sept. 12th we will be having wrestling seminars, hosted by
