AAW - 11/28/09 - Windy City Classic V

Looks like a lot of fun.

In less than one weeks time AAW returns to the Berwyn Eagles Club for the marquee event of the year; The Windy City Classic V. Every year the Classic has provided some of the most memorable moments in AAW history and this year will be no different as the card features a triple main event. In the coming days we'll be taking an in depth look at the matches signed and we will start with the first of three huge title matches!

AAW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE

JIMMY JACOBS DEFENDS THE BELT


When this years Windy City Classic card was being put together Jimmy Jacobs made it clear to Jim Lynam and the AAW office that he would defend the belt against any and all comers. Lynam has obliged and for the first time in AAW history the Heavyweight Champion may be facing up to six challengers for the title in one match! Two qualifiers will be held earlier in the night and the competitors who come out on top will advance to take on each other and Jacobs in an elimination match where only one man will be left standing with the title. The odds may be stacked against the champ here but this is Jimmy Jacobs. Jacobs has been defying the odds his entire ten year career in the wrestling business and promises November 28th will be no different. Let's take a look at his possible challengers.



HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE QUALIFIER

The #1 and #2 contenders clash with a spot in the Main Event on the line. Jay Bradley shocked AAW this year when he returned to the company and captured the Heavyweight title his first show back. Bradley defeated Tyler Black for the belt and then successfully defended it against Black in a controversial finish at this years "Scars and Stripes". Black would then take time off to nurse a neck injury and Bradley would lose the title to Jimmy Jacobs. Now these two men stare across the ring at each other one more time and must prove once and for all who the better man is before they can go after what they both feel is rightfully theirs, the AAW Heavyweight Championship.

A match designed to showcase the top talent in the company with a shot at the title on the line. Danny Daniels has had a very successful year and has one of the better win/loss records on the roster in 2009. He teams with the returning Trik Davis who is a former AAW Tag Team Champion and a technically skilled competitor who is not above taking a short cut. Also on Team Daniels is the House of Truth enforcer Mason Beck. Beck adds size and strength to the team and you can bet Turth Martini would love to have the AAW Heavyweight title in his camp. On the other side is team captain Shane Hollister who has had a break out year in the singles division and is looking to take the next step to the main events. Silas Young joins him and has had a year of ups and downs to say the least. Silas wants to win the big one in the worst way. Dan Lawrence joins them and the longest standing member of the AAW roster looks to finally break through and get a shot at the Heavyweight title. Two more team members will be added to both sides and expect a highly competitive match here with so much on the line. The man/men who are left standing get a shot at the gold.


Now for a look at the second part of a huge triple main event. A Tag Team Title match six months in the making.

Throughout the years tag team wrestling has always been one of the cornerstones of AAW. With one of the deepest divisions in the country the AAW Tag Team Titles have always been sought after and held with prestige. Teams such as The Motor City Machine Guns, The Michigan Invasion, DP Associates and The Northstar Express have all held the titles. In 2009 the tag team division has been deeper than ever before and one team has been dominant, Truth Martini's House of Truth. Since being brought together by Martini earlier this year Josh Raymond and Christian Able have rolled through the competition winning the Tag Titles in June and dethroning The Phoenix Twins in the "Fate of Eight" tournament final. Following Truth Martini's creed to "win by any means necessary" Able and Raymond have chalked up wins over impressive teams such as Suds and Buds (Dan Lawrence/Silas Young), The Young Bucks, Faith in Nothing and most recently Zero Gravity. The Phoenix Twins have spent the last six months scratching and clawing their way back to the #1 contender spot. Wins over Irish Airborne, The Hybrids and Aero Form (Flip Kendrick/Louis Lyndon) have put them back in front of the line and they get their shot to become two time Tag Team Champions in just a few short days at the Windy City Classic V. It was one year ago that the Twins defeated the Northstar Express in the legendary TLC match and they now try to go two for two at the Classic in title matches. Truth Martini has waged psychological warfare trying to get Tweek and Dash to doubt one another calling their trust into question. Lockeroom rumors persist that the Twins are not on the same page yet Tweek and Dash have downplayed the talk saying they are focused and ready to regain the gold on Saturday night. Get ready fans as this Saturday night the two top teams in AAW collide!

Arik Cannon recently made AAW history when he became the longest reigning champion the company has ever seen. For over fourteen months Cannon has held the prestigious Heritage Title and has defended it against some of the top competition AAW has had to offer. On Saturday Cannon faces the biggest threat to his title reign to date as he takes on Chicagoland favorite Colt Cabana. Cabana's resume speaks for itself as he has traveled the world over in his career. Now he has signed on to the AAW roster and would like nothing better than to win gold at the Windy City Classic. Can Colt finally wrestle away the belt from Cannon or will "The Anarchist" once again find a way to leave Berwyn the Heritage Champion?
