After announcing his suspension the FPW championship board has revealed the replacement of Tony Scarpone in the BANE'S PRIDE MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT with FPW's own Stonehands Slater Wallace
This show is the 4th Annual "Bane's Pride Invitational Tournament"
This tournament is held in Honor of "Bane" Ward Doepping, a former wrestler in the Chicagoland area. Before the show, the current Pride champion will surrender the title and enter the tournament with the same odds as the other competitors. There are 8 men, 3 rounds, with the final round being contested under "Pride Rules" which means no rope breaks, no dq, falls count anywhere.
The winner of the first tournament was Chase Richards who defeated Steve Szoke in a match that garnered FPW match of the year honors. Chase defended the title successfully until the 2nd round of the second pride title tournament. Hayden Kent defeated his brother Christopher in the finals of the 2008 Tournament. Hayden defended the title for 11 months, along the way, defeating the likes of AM Vision and Prince Ali. Roach became the first to win the title outside of the tournament. Dave Allen underhandedly defeated Brandon Thomaselli, Silas Young, and Roach in the Final match of the 2009 Tournament. "Stonehands" Slater Wallace defeated Dave Allen 2 months later and then lost it back to Dave Allen, who became the only2 time pride champion. Devon Fury defeated Allen the next month and then lost the title to Johnny Motley the month after that. Motley still holds the title until bell time on April 17th.
(thanks to dave allen for this history lesson)
