Congratulations to Doug Simmons!! Doug became the first ever Chicago Style Wrestling Heavyweight Champion!! Doug defeated Remi Raines, Diego Corleone, and Noriega in the Championship Title Tournament .
Austin Roberts pinned Steve Boz to win the Triple Threat Match with Roberts, Boz, and "The American Dragon" Brian Danielson.
Austin Roberts was able to coerce Bryan Danielson into helping him secure the victory after Danielson hit Boz with a brutal head kick followed by multiple elbow strikes to face. Bryan Danielson and Austin Roberts then stood over a lifeless Steve Boz, shook hands and while Danielson left the ring Roberts picked up Boz and hit his "Silencer" finish for the pin.
With the win, Roberts became the #1 Contender for the title and faces Champion Doug Simmons on September 10th at Guerin Prep.

Leave it to the crafty Mr. Roberts to make a brilliant alliance of convenience.

was the BOZ superkick on the ref an omen of a heel turn?

My first time at Guerin Prep for CSW. About 180-200. Group of Danielson fans wearing ties. Apologies for missing names:
Dark: Knicks/Dude in purple d. New Age Samoan and Craig? when Knicks hit the jigatonic like finisher on Craig?.
The Missouri State champ came out to confront Sader for not getting into the tourney. Sader made a match between the two later.
First round tourney matches were selected out of a hat. One of the refs was female, wearing short shorts:
1) 450 d. Cutler with some flippy plex. 2) Simmons d. Remmy Raines by reversing a dragon plex attempt into a codebreaker. 3) Noriega d. Milo Cash after Noriega was suplexed by Cash into the ring. Noriega got the pin when his manager held Milo's leg. 4) Diego Corleone d. Mike Anthony with his foot on the ropes. Two unclean pins in a row?
5) Carlos Rivera won a 5-way scramble match with a stunner on a dude with a spiky hair. Too long, too much botching.
6) Flippy kids in orange (Looks Could Kill) d. Brubaker/Hades & Willie/Acid Jaz: Pretty good. I saw Willie down a few times and thought he was having a heart problem. one of the kids in orange did a backflip/moonsault off the folded bleachers onto the others in the highspot of the night. Powerbomb/backcracker combo on Hades won it.
7) Sader d. Missouri champ with huge robe in less than one minute with boot and leg drop. Having now seen Sader, I can say his leg drop may be worse than Hogan. Hogan lookalike came out to celebrate, attacked Sader, and revelaed himself as Austin Roberts. Some other guy gave the MO champ and horrible looking chokeslam. You can hear the crowd moan a bit on that.
Somewhere around this time, I started the "Do your homework" chant.
8) Simmons hit a flurry of offense on Corleone to win. Corleone chased off some little girl before the match. He needs to think of a different tagline than "Who's the Man?" That got old quick.
9) Noriega d. 450. 450 hit the 450 (wasn't a great 450), but the manager but Nor's foot on the rope. Nog got the rollup three with the tights.
10) Simmons d. Noriega for the CSW title. Match booking was bad. Nor tried to win by cheating, he kissed the female ref and got a low blow. He set up a chair and tried to ram Simmons into it but missed, hitting head first. 450 hit the ring, hit a kick on Nor right in front of the ref (No DQ called for) and Simmons hit the codebreaker for the three. Not the strong way you want to put over the title and your first champion on the first night. Simmons went into the crowd afterwards.
11) Roberts d. Danielson & Boz: Pretty good. BOZ and Dragon were over huge. Roberts was hated by EVERYBODY. He really has major heel heat. Most of the match consisted of Boz and Dragon one-upping each other by seeing who could beat up Roberts worse. Dragon hit a running knee on roberts to the floor. Boz hit a splash on Dragon. The finish went as described above. I'd like to know why Dragon walked out, hopefully somebody shot a promo with him afterwards to describe it.
Show was alright, crowd could have been hotter. I had to fight rush hour traffic to get there and I really don't have an urge to drive back and do it again next month. But it could have been worse.

I was wondering about this too, I think Noriega was wrestling back to back at the end, and looked extremely tired. I was expecting more from Simmons. The thing with the ref was funny, Noriega's manager (Don't know his name) took a nice chair shot from 450. The best match I think the main event

Congratulations to Doug ! I am a big fan of his. I'm sorry to have missed what sounds like a great show. The men involved in this company have always tried to give their best, so some think there was an off match or two, I challenge them to do a better job. Yes! I am biased ,but those making such comments should look at themselves and say could I have done better. I know I could not ,that is why I am a fan and not a wrestler.

So because a fan wouldn't be capable of putting on a better match than a trained wrestler, they can't say that a match sucked? Should we just ban negative comments from the board?

Wow I'm sorry to have come off sounding like a jerk. :-[No we shouldn't ban negative comments ,I just feel that some people tend to focus on the bad and forget the good.By all means state your opinion ,everyone has that right. as I said I am biased ,that being said I also must state that every one has an off night here or there even the most highly trained wrestler .I'll admit that I have seen some train wreck matches in my travels as a fan.

8) Simmons hit a flurry of offense on Corleone to win. Corleone chased off some little girl before the match. He needs to think of a different tagline than "Who's the Man?" That got old quick. I would have to respectfully disagree on this one. If a heel can annoy a crowd and get the crowd on his ass with his own catchphrase, he's doing something right. Corleone and Noriega are probably 2 of the more entertaining heels in the promotion. Who was the old greybeard that entered into the ring to help Sader out when he was getting a beatdown from Austin Roberts? He was a spectator ringside for most of the show, then he just walked into the ring and chokeslammed johnny armonni. No explanation. I'm pretty sure I saw the botching in the 5-way. Some miscommunication, and Juliette looked like she took some hard bumps. Very entertaining show overall.
