The wrestling fans that attended last Saturday night's show (3/19) enjoyed a great evening of entertainment. Frontier Championship Wrestling presented St. Patty's Massacre at Rock Hollow Conservation Center in Freeport, IL. Around 200 fans packed "The Rock" to see a classic barbed wire match and to witness the crowning of FCW's first ever United States Champion.
Owner Richard Bonjour greeted fans at ringside while the new Commissioner Capt. Jack made an announcement. Capt. Jack stated that the winner of the main event would take on the biggest name to be signed in FCW history at WrestleRock III on July 9th in Freeport.
1. Dan the Man & The Athletic Dept. ("The Dodge Ball Superstar" Tyler Priegle & Coach Havens) vs. Paule Thomaselli & Honor & Justice(Justice Jones & Judge Jessie)
A great six-man match opened the show. Justice Jones was not pleased with the way that ring announcer Shawn from RWF fame announced the newest member to Honor & Justice. Jones tossed Shawn over-the-top to the ringside floor. The announcement was then made that Paule Thomaselli is the newest member to Honor & Justice.
The match began as a free-for-all as all six men brawled all over the Rock Hollow floor. Dodge balls were thrown into play as Priegle's team launched them at Honor & Justice. Dan The Man's leap off the top rope failed as the large Justice Jones caught him at ringside and rammed his back to the corner post. Dan took a lot of punishment but was able to make a tag to get his partners involved in the match. All six participants once again stormed the ring for action as Dan the Man would catch Judge Jessie in a codebreaker and then a rolling thunder for a pin.
After the match, Coach Havens was handcuffed to the ropes while Jones worked his leg over with a club stick. Priegle caused a distraction by chucking his dodge balls at his opponents while Dan The Man made a successful top-rope leap to take out Honor & Justice. The crowd was into the match.
Winners: Dan The Man & The Athletic Dept.
2. Diamond Steele vs "The Main Event" Joshua Christianson.
This match had some newcomers to FCW. "The Main Event" has had some success with PCW. Diamond Steele was a cross between an 80s metal rock star and a young Dingo Warrior. The crowd wasn't into this match as much as the two competitors put on a solid match. Too much show-boating in the beginning slowed things down. Christianson would dominate a good portion of the contest. Steele would attempt a Boston crab to be reversed and have his tights get pulled to lose the match.
Winner: "The Main Event"
3. Mickie Lee Knuckles vs Jessie Belle Smothers (Battle of the Frontier Foxes)
Former TNA Knockout Mickie Lee Knuckles and Jessie Belle Smothers, daughter of legend Tracy Smothers, gave an excellent match. The fans went wild in this one that went all over Rock Hollow. The veteran Knuckles controlled a good portion of this match but the "Southern SpitFire" more then held her own. The two ladies would eventually get counted out on the floor.
Commissioner Capt. Jack would then make the first match for WrestleRock III on July 9th. The two Foxes would rematch in a Falls Count Anywhere/No DQ match.
Winner: A Double Count Out
4. Alan Flawlezz vs Romeo Valentino
The Rookie Flawlezz received a huge pop from the crowd as he was announced as a hometown favorite. Many of his family & friends were in attendance cheering him on against the seasoned veteran. The Thirteen-year veteran in Valentino dominated the rookie for a majority of their bout. Valentino nailed Flawlezz with a very stiff clothesline. Valentino attempted to end the match with a sharpshooter that spelled disaster when the rookie would reverse the veteran for the win. "The Italian Heartthrob" Valentino showed some class by shaking the rookie's hand.
Winner: Alan Flawlezz
5. Bucky Collins vs Thomas Walton III (TW3) To Crown The First Ever FCW United States Champion (2-out-of-3 Falls)
These two greats had some great matches in the past for FCW. Another Wisconsin vs Illinois rivalry heated up with TW3 being from green Bay, WI and Collins from Elizabeth, IL. The stakes were raised as the winner would be the first ever FCW US Champion.
The first fall began with a brawl in the crowd. I could see a couple of Miller Lite bottles being tossed. Collins would score a pin-fall to win the first fall.
Bucky would open the second fall by taking a nasty spill off the top rope onto the floor. TW3 would dominate the rest of the fall. TW3 nailed Collins with stiff kicks on the floor. Bucky made it back into the ring only to get clobbered by a scissors kick.....aka Booker T style. The crowd chanted "Bucky!" to try and get him back into the action. Collins would eventually pass out as TW3 placed him in a figure four. Score the pin-fall and the second fall to TW3.
The third and final fall saw TW3 continue his beat down on Collin's right leg. Collins came back to deliver his 450 splash on his fallen opponent. The referee counted three only to see TW3's foot on the rope. The match continued! TW3 would catch Bucky with a thunderous kick off the second rope. TW3 went for the pin as Collins placed his foot on the rope. The referee failed to catch Collin's boot on the rope and awarded the match and title to TW3.
Collins, steaming with anger, attacked TW3 with a ladder after the match. Commissioner Capt. Jack announced a rematch for the US Title would take place at WrestleRock III in a ladder match.
Winner: The New FCW US Champion TW3
A 15-Minute Intermission was made to see up for the main event.
6. FCW Champion Stumpy vs "The Hardcore Homosexual" Peter B. Beautiful (Barbed Wire Death Match)
The FCW Title was on the line as barbed wire surrounded the entire ring. A couple of boards with barbed wire were at ringside along with a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. Peter B. Beautiful drew first blood on the champion by busting Stumpy open. The champ would stage a comeback with the aid of the bat to open up his challenger. Both men were bleeding like stuck pigs. The gentleman next to me got blood on his hand from one of the two competitors. Stumpy eventually had his opponent down in a camel clutch like position raking the barbed wire bat into the forehead of Peter. The pain was too much as "The Hardcore Homosexual" tapped out.
Commissioner Capt. Jack came into the ring to make the announcement of the evening. Stumpy would face the biggest name in FCW history in Capt. Jack himself. Capt. Jack attempted to back jump the champion but Stumpy chased him from ringside.
FCW owner Richard Bonjour took the mic to make his own announcement. He said to Capt. Jack, "I hired you to make me money not to make money for yourself. Your match at WrestleRock III against Stumpy will be in a steel cage."
Winner: The FCW Champion Stumpy
The crowd applauded both competitors in the main event. FCW is a growing company doing its best at bringing in fresh faces and putting on quality shows. WrestleRock on July 9th will be worth checking out. it is scheduled to be out doors on the Rock Hollow grounds. In the weeks to come, more matches will be announced along with ticket prices and special guests.
