Crimefighter hit this one on the head here. Your saying they are yarders and you have yet to see a show. Granted you may never see a show then again you just might. But my original arguement still stands. You base it all off of a gimmick name.
Joey your correct I am the GREAT and all KNOWING OZ! Oh and powerful!

CF, Exactly 2 people used the term yarder/yard-y. Since this new promotion hasn't had a show yet and nobody seems to know who these guys are, assumptions are bound to be made. Whether ASCW is "yardy" or not remains to be seen. Everything in Chicago IS NOT great and the same can be said for the Central/Southern part of the state. It goes both ways though as there is some exceptional talent up here and you all have your fair share of guys who know what they are doing downstate. I don't like the direction this convo is heading with the *us vs. them* mentality. 4-5 guys are guilty of bringing the "yarder" comments with regularity. Keep that in mind next time it starts to bug you. Due to everyone's contributions over the last year, this board has come a long way in creating awareness and bringing attention to smaller promotions that otherwise wouldn't have the kind of exposure that the board can bring them. Calling people out for their uninformed opinions (let them scream yarder 'till they're blue in the face) and drawing lines in the sand WON'T help to nurture and maintain this space for all Chicago/IL promotions. That's the reason this board was created. This is now the official CPW.com credo: Our intent is to give more of a "web presence" to all Indy promotions in the region who are looking for exposure and want to utilize this inexpensive, far reaching form of advertising.
We are trying to create a cohesive, shared space for all involved with Independent wrestling in the Midwest. I'd like to see this board be able to include ALL promotions within a 4-5 hour drive of Chicago (hell...eventually I'd love to see this place cover the entire Midwest). My question is why do you feel slighted? Nobody took a shot at you but you come off as if someone did. I think you're taking it too personal. JMac summed things up nicely: Let these guys put on their show and let them prove themselves. If it turns out some of these guys can work, the naysayers get to eat crow and you can rub their faces in it. End of sermon...carry on, gentlemen. (If it's any consolation, you matter to me! )

Well, gang...I have been out of town for a bit and finally got back to the site, and wow! What controversy! Kewl! You know, the yarder controversy is to be expected, and I really don't mind. I can tell you this will be a quality show. We have promoted before, just not under the ASCW banner. My partner and I (that's wrestling partner, you perverts! ) felt the need to have our own brand on shows, which is why we did this. As to Chicago shows, guys, been there, done that! I am from the north side originally. Been to my share of indy shows as well as the shows at the old Ampitheater and Chicago Stadium back in the 70's. Yes, I am an old fart! When I came home after the army, I worked out with Windy City for about 6 months in the mid 80's. I didn't like the way they wanted me to go. What you need to do is not pre-judge, with no evidence. You never heard of these workers. So what? Does that automatically mean they suck? NO. Just like being a Chicago indy fed does not automaticaly guarantee a good show. Does Memphis wrestling suck? I can tell you a few of these guys wrestle there regualrly. Come and see the show. E-mail me privately and I'll arrange a VIP ticket for you. Just don't bash before the fact, it's uncool. Voice your expectations, but react on what you see.

Well, as to how the show went, it was great! Several people in the area have made it a point to call me up and tell me. Some are huge marks. Attendance was 175 - 200, less than we hoped, but a good crowd. We had a couple of snags, but they were dealt with. The toughest one when the power went out! But it came back on in a few minutes. We were stuck with house lights instead of the ring lights we brought, but OFW, ya know?
The 6 man match was excellent, as was the ladies match. All the matches were good but those were the standouts. The crowd was into everyone of the matches.
When I was driving Koko to the airport the next morning he gave some honest critique. Nothing was bad, just how to make things better. He also saw the 2 blown spots in my match, but said we covered well and got back on track.
All in all a good experience.
I also wanted to reply to an earlier response, about the "off the top of my head" comment. When I responded to that I was not at my normal pc, I was at school. I didn't have the card in front of me. Sue me. As to some of the names, go b*tch someplace else. Tony Storm has been using that name for years. Long before James Storm made it big. Bobby "the body" is a gimmick like anything else. It goes over because he's scrawny.
