Results from Scott County Wrestling's Prestige Rumble on April 4, 2008 at Beyond the Baseline in Davenport:
1. The Phoenix Twins beat Knight Wahlberg & Jordan McIntyre [The Right Stuff] when one of the Twins made Wahlberg submit to a Cobra Clutch pulled back into almost a Camel Clutch in 5:32. Good, fast-paced opener.
2. Hunter Matthews pinned Dan Lawrence in a strap match after power bombing him off the top rope through a table in 15:59 to retain the SCW Quad Cities Championship. Very good match.
3. Trik Davis & Danny Daniels beat C.J. Esparza & Bret Gakiya when Daniels pinned Esparza after a Trik Davis Samoan Driver in 20:32 to retain the SCW Tag Team Championship. Started a little slow, but developed into a decent match in the last few minutes.
4. Marek Brave won the 25-man Prestige Rumble in 41:15. It came down to Brave, Keith Walker, and Nevin Knoxville. Knoxville gave Walker a low blow from behind and Brave & Knoxville eliminated Walker. Brave and Knoxville then acted like they were going to fight each other, but Knoxville simply jumped over the top rope to give Brave the win. After the match, Knoxville, Brave, Mason Beck, and Jake Ryder celebrated and talked about the win, and Ryder talked about eliminating Mark Storm from SCW while Walker threw chairs from the floor at them.
5. Shane Hollister made Tyler Black submit to the Texas Cloverleaf in 27:37 to win the SCW Championship. Undoubtedly the match of the night. I gave it ****1/4 on the Meltzer 5-star scale. Many, many near falls before Hollister got the Cloverleaf on a second time, Black made the ropes, but Hollister pulled him back to the center (I always thought that still called for a break, but the ref didn't break the hold), and Black tapped out.
Very good night of action, and they announced this broke the SCW attendance record, with a paid admishion of over 280. If you missed this, get the DVD, especially for the main event.
