This Saturday night AAW celebrates its 7th Anniversary with a huge card at the Berwyn Eagles Club. Coming off a successful debut at 115 Bourbon St last month the entire locker room is ready to get back to the home of AAW and show everyone why AAW sets the standard for professional wrestling in the Chicago land area. Today we’ll take a closer look at the main event and take a look at the three men who will do battle for the most prestigious title in the Midwest. Fittingly, all three of these men have put everything they’ve had into the company throughout the years but it will be the final chance at the title for the two challengers. AAW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE- ELIMINATION MATCH ( C ) Making his AAW debut in 2004, Wisconsin native Silas Young immediately started making a name for himself. In May of 2006 he captured his first AAW Title by defeating Danny Daniels for the Heritage belt. Through 2006 and 2007 Young had become one of the top workers in the Midwest. He had a brilliant series of matches against Austin Aries in AAW and in early 2008 was offered a contract with WWE that would unfortunately fall through just weeks later. Young would return to AAW and find himself in a blood feud against Josh Raymond and the House of Truth. Silas would join with Dan Lawrence during this period naming their team “Suds and Buds”. The pair were not able to take away the tag titles from the HOT and many blamed Silas’ lack of focus. Young would get a chance at redemption in September when he faced Bryan Danielson at “Defining Moment- Us vs. Them”. Even though Silas proved he could hang with the best in the world he came up on the short end once again and the stigma would remain that Young could not “win the big one”. That would all change in November as Young defeated Jimmy Jacobs for the AAW Heavyweight Title at the “Windy City Classic”. Young had aligned himself with the Irish Airborne and he would go on to break the record for most title defenses and longest reign in AAW history. In this time Silas has defeated not only a who’s who of AAW stars but an impressive list of challengers in all of independent wrestling. He comes into the 7th Anniversary show after a win over Raven that saw Mason Beck now apparently join his stable as well. Silas Young has gone on record saying AAW is the best in the Midwest and he is the best of the best. This Saturday he faces two of his toughest challengers in the same match. Few men of Jimmy Jacobs age have been through more wars on the independent scene. When Jacobs came to AAW in 2005 he had already made a name for himself in several high profile promotions. His controversial actions at the first ever “Windy City Classic” would send shockwaves through the scene and put AAW at the forefront. His feud with Jerry Lynn was physical and bloody. Jacobs had just begun to leave his mark on the promotion. In the fall of 2006 Jacobs would capture the AAW Heritage Title from Silas Young. He would hold the belt until March of 2007 at the 3rd Anniversary show when he dropped the belt to Eric Priest and was then fired from the company by CEO Billy Whack. Jimmy would be back in the fold by the fall and in 2008 found himself in a feud with Ryan Boz that would produce some of the wildest brawls in AAW history. Jacobs would eventually go on to capture the AAW Heavyweight title from Jay Bradley in September of 2009, losing it to Silas Young and sparking the rivalry to this day. In February of 2010 Jacobs would become the first man to capture the AAW Triple Crown when he won the AAW Tag Team Titles with Tyler Black. Now Jacobs looks to make history once again by regaining the Heavyweight Title at the 7th Anniversary show. Jimmy is arguably in the best shape of his career and ready to fight with all he has once again to leave Berwyn Saturday night with the gold. No one has seen more in AAW than “The Party Danimal” Dan Lawrence. The longest standing member of the AAW roster debuted on the second ever event as part of the tag team “The Vanilla Shakes” with his partner Bill E. Valentine. The “Shakes” run would end in late 2004 but Lawrence began to make a name for himself in the singles division capturing the AAW Cruiserweight Title from Weston Benton. (The title was then renamed the Heritage belt in 2006) After dropping the belt to Danny Daniels Lawrence would once again join the tag team ranks teaming with Ryan Boz and capturing the AAW Tag Team Titles in a tournament held in June of 06. They would hold the belts for six months before Boz turned on Lawrence and the two were embroiled in a feud that featured the first ever “Fans Bring the Weapons” match. It was during this feud Lawrence really began to connect with the audience with his never say die attitude. He wasn’t the biggest guy in the fight but there was no quit in him. Fans related to his “fight hard, party hard” mantra. In 2008 Lawrence and Silas Young would feud with the House of Truth coming up short in their bid to win the Tag Titles. Lawrence would start to make waves in the singles division while Silas had won the title and shown his true colors. Last year Dan was unsuccessful in his two shots at taking the AAW Heavyweight Title away from Silas Young but earned a great deal of respect in the process. He teamed with Jimmy Jacobs in an uneasy partnership, taking out the Irish Airborne in a steel cage match last month. Now Lawrence receives his final shot at Silas Young and the title. Lawrence will once again be the underdog coming into this one but it is a role he has embraced throughout the past seven years. www.AAWrestling.com
