NGW has been doing a pretty good job lately. Kudos to whoever is putting those shows together. I am hoping to make it over sometime this summer, its been a while since I have been to one. The only one I have been to is back in the days when J-Mac was there plying his trade at the Peoria Athletic Club and Trip C wasn an MC!

Machine came in slightly over the Jr. Heavyweight limit, thus causing the change of the title name. Does this Central Illinois title have any lineage to the Dark Horse Wrestling Central Illinois title?

I was not able to go to SLW last night due to celebrating a 3rd place finish in the state basketball tournament, but typically mattoon draws anywhere between 120-150.

"Dangerous" Drew Thomas suffered an in ring injury in November. He had surgery on his neck, and hopefully will be back. He is a very talented wrestler.
The dude that gave the best fan favorite award to the Mississippi Madman was awesome!

oops i knew it was JC, and yeah I should have mentioned Ice Cold being in the wheelchair because of the injury. It was just a bad bad night.
Chris, is it too late to nominate NCW for promotion of the year?

Ice Cold Outlaw was doing the announcing from the table. He said the commisioner usually does the announcing but was unavailabe. So Outlaw was announcing, doing occasional play-by-play, and doing the music. Before the card started they were playing music and on came Dusty Rhodes's theme from when he was in the WWF so that was sort of cool. I just realized there were no tag matches on the card. Blake Reed told Michael Rellic that Rellic was not worthy enough to lace his boots. GAW wrestler JD Michaels who was in the crowd quickly pointed out to Reed that he did not have boots. I think it flustered Reed a bit.

Why do I do this to myself.
About 60 people in attendance in beautiful Amishland Arthur, Illinois for Lion's Club benefit by NCW.
The 7pm show kicked off at about 710 with new World Heavyweight Champion Kenny Taylor (a nerd gimmick) came out to do a promo. His promo was interrupted by former champion Kross (who apparently had to forfeit the title due to an injury and never actually lost, both guys are best friends in wrestling!) They set up a match to face each other later tonight.
Match 1-Johnny Watts against the "Glamerous" Alex Castle. Alex is just out of the NCW wrestling school. Castle apparentely spent his entire time in wrestling school watching Larry Zbysko (sp?) tapes as he stalled pretty much the whole match. Castle then came back and was victorious.
Next International Champion, the dastardly Canadian Blake Reed came out and did a promo. He then announced he would be wrestling in a non-title match against another wrestler just out of the NCW wrestling school, Michael Rellic. Rellic had one of those metail type headdresses that Scott Steiner wears. He also was hiding a bowling ball under his t-shirt (ok uncomfirmed it was a bowling ball). Reed wins the match and destroys Rellic, Drake comes out and makes the save setting up a match for later tonight for the International Championship!
Match 3-JT Rain defeated Shank Barzini. Barzini wore a nylon shirt with fake tattoos on the arms. Rain went for a finishing like manuever and Barzini completely screwed up. I knew he screwed up because he very loudly said sorry. Rain then got the win.
At 8 oclock we then had a 20 minute intermission.
The 20 minute intermission ended at about 830. We then had Drake take on International Champion Blake Reed for the title. Reed wanted a Canadian Streetfight with no countouts and no disqualification. Instead it was decided the match would be a hardcore match. Reed bladed about 5 moves before he got hit in the forehead. Started bleeding well before he was hit.. Reed won the match.
Main Event-Kenny Taylor successfully defended the World Title against Kross.
Not one "wrestler" on the card wore wrestling boots.

Supreme League of Wrestling debuted their 6-sided ring. Very nice ring, actually looked bigger than the typical 4-sided ring. Due to the winter storm that hit most of the state, there were a few no-shows.
1. Warchild vs Soul Train (Ricky Powers in a new persona) was ruled a no contest when Dangerous by Design (Cyclone, JT Rain, DaCobra, DeAndre King, and commissioner for the night Shad Tally) cleared the ring because no one wanted to see that match.
2.Mephisto and Kurt Styles (S&M) with their valet Lillian Somebody defeated Wild Bill and Jesse James Hollywood.
3. DeAndre King w/Shad Tally defeated Cecil Cerveza
4. "The Feature Presentation"("The Up and Comer" Eric Ruffington and "The Apex of Appeal" Blake Steele) accompanied by Alexis Steele defeated "The Upper Echelon" (Jason Vendetta and Jeff Harris)
5. SLW Tag Team Champions "The Forces of Nature"(Cyclone and JT Rain) vs Prince Nova with Jimmy Falcon (may have been using another name) handicap match was ruled a no contest when "The Feature Presentation" and "The Upper Echelon" came out and joined the fray.
6. Bear defeated Gavin Alexander
7. Supreme Champion DaCobra with Shad Tally appeared to lose his title to Sean Brody. When ref Chad Tally went over to get the belt, Shad Tally slipped a chain on Brody's hand. When Chad Tally saw the chain on Brody's hand he reversed his decision. Aaron Matthews then ran in on DaCobra and challenged him for January.

I think the bigger story here is that there was an indy wrestling show in Arcola, of all places. What did the Amish folk think of the show? More Amish over in Arthur (where I saw a show way early in the year). Lots of migrant kids attend the shows in Arcola.
