CHIKARA presents “The Artistic Pursuit of Being Yourself”
Live from the Streamwood Park District Community Center in Streamwood, IL
Saturday, September 20, 2008
Preshow Notes: Off to a bit of an early start today, as CHIKARMY members were let in 15 minutes earlier than expected (6:00 PM as opposed to 6:15). Everything's looking nice on the inside of the building, looks to be quite the fun show ahead. TPI ads on the seats in the front two rows, the building is set up exactly like the NWA Midwest shows. Really good turnout for the attendance, estimated to be around 150-175. Very warm inside the building. Card changes announced - Claudio Castagnoli vs Drake Younger in Cleveland tomorrow, along with a "lucha surprise" tonight.
0. NWA Midwest Heavyweight Title: Silas Young (c) vs Egotistico Fantastico: Silas Young retains the NWA Midwest Heavyweight title after landing the Zero Gravity. Good match.
1. Lince Dorado and Helios vs The Iron Saints: Brandon and Vito are representing the Iron Saints. Lince and Helios win in 9:34 with stereo SSP's. Very good match.
2. Tim Donst vs Buck Hawke: Hawke attempts to jump Donst to start off at the bell, but the attack backfires and Donst gets the upper hand. Buck gets the win in a little over 6:30 with a cradle, pulling the tights to get the cheap win.
3. The Osirian Portal, Sami Callihan and Trik Davis vs Da Soul Touchaz: Fourth member of the Soul Touchaz is Trauma, who frequently teams with the trio in midwest shows, most notably with Acid and Marshe in IWA Mid-South. Marshe was trapped throughout the match by the rudos, but Willie Drops the Bomb with the legdrop for the win. Described as a hometown squash.
4. Jimmy Olsen vs Colin Delaney: Colin comes in through the side entrance with no music, showing that no matter how much money you have from the WWE, you can't buy room backstage. Colin defeats Jimmy in 8:33 via the F-U after Vin distracts Jimmy by throwing an Equinox mask at him. Colin attempted an RKO earlier in the match for a two count.
Intermission. Ungodly hot in the building, everyone's glad to have a chance to get outside.
5. Mini Guerrero del Futuro and Aguila de Oro vs Discovery and Incognito: The crowd isn't really taking to the match all that well, described as "inversely over compared to the Soul Touchaz". Discovery and Incognito win in 10:39, Incognito catches Aguila de Oro with a modified reinera. "You can skip this one."
6. Drake Younger vs STIGMA: STIGMA defeats Drake in 8:14 with a tombstone piledriver after Drake shoved into Vin Gerard. Drake attempted to get his hands on the UnStable after the match but was held back.
7. Young Lions Cup: Vin Gerard (c) vs Fire Ant: The UnStable is sticking around the ring for the match, but Fire Ant comes out flying solo. Vin Gerard gets the win in 13:00. The UnStable run in following a ref bump to help Vin out, Jimmy Olsen and Drake Younger run them off. Vin fouls Fire Ant and Bryce Remsburg tries to warn referee PJ Drummond of the foul. Vin locks in the STF and PJ gives Vin the win, unaware of the foul. Bryce is in shock but does nothing about it.
8. Mike Quackenbush, Player Dos, Gran Akuma, Soldier Ant and Amasis vs Hallowicked, Player Uno, Icarus, Worker Ant and Ophidian: Player Dos pins Hallowicked for the fall in 31:10 for the win. The crowd was slow to get into it, but got really hot towards the end. Incredibly fun match.
