Halloween came a few days early in Oswego last night as "Mr. Pricolo" (Master J) and "Mr. Elvis Presolo" (Mr. Ricolo) introduced the show and hosted a Halloween Costume Contest (congrats to all the winners) on a night that continued the Road to WrestleRage!
97.9 fm The Loop producer Guy Bower came out to the ring to remind fans about just a few of the events that would be taking place at WrestleRage, including the 1st ever in professional wrestling Fans Bring The Weapons Treasure Chest Match for the World Title between Champion Eric Freedom and Chris Cairo, as well as the big 10 man tag between the members of the M.O.B. with Robert Sabre III and Jimmy Blaze's team of Ruff Crossing, Scott Spade, DJ Donny Dynamite, Hardcore Craig, and Forsaken- with the stipulation that if the M.O.B. loses, they will all be handed their walking papers, that's right, fired from POWW!
Well, the M.O.B. was in the house and they were not thrilled to be reminded of the stakes for the big match, and Trevor Blanchard slugged the radio personality and slammed him in the center of the ring as the rest of the M.O.B. put the boots to him. Jimmy Blaze came out, but due to the 15 feet distance he must maintain between himself and the M.O.B. was unable to make the save. Instead Ruff Crossing, Scott Spade, and Chris Cairo all stormed the ring and sent the M.O.B. running for the hills.
After that was a POWW Royal.
Terry Allen was the first out, followed by Scott Spade, Chris Cairo, and X-Con. X-Con refused to enter the ring, and so Cairo and Spade slid outside to corner the big man while TA dove through the ropes on to X-Con and all three slid him in to the ring to keep the match going. Next out were Dehok, Trevor Blanchard, Ruff Crossing, Justin James, and Black Iron. Spade was eliminated by X-Con, Dehok, and James. Iron was eliminated by RC. Matt Mayhem came out as Blanchard was eliminated by RC. Cairo was eliminated by X-Con, as was Mayhem. JJ and Dehok were eliminated by RC. X-Con then eliminated TA and RC to pick up the victory.
The second match of the night was a rematch between Melanie Cruise w/ King Kanoa taking on Matt Mayhem. After a little back and forth between the two, Mayhem took control with a 2nd rope back elbow, and held on for a while until Cruise nailed a vicious clothesline that turned Mayhem inside out. Some trading off between Cruise and Kanoa of distracting the ref and attacking Mayhem took place, and while for a moment it looked like Mayhem might be able to overcome the odds and pick up the win, Cruise scored with a modified angle slam and got the pinfall.
Next up was Black Iron w/ Jade facing Scott Spade. Spade stormed the ring but Iron cut him off and took it to the hero with a series of boots. Spade reversed and sent Iron outside and choked the masked man until Jade tried to get him away, Spade gave chase to Jade as they circled the ring, allowing Iron to get Spade's chain and use it against it's owner. Later on Iron looked to have it sewn up with the 2nd rope dead leg drop, but it was Spade's Ace Crusher that ended the match. After Spade's victory Justin James and Trevor Blanchard crashed the ring and attacked Spade, prompting Ruff Crossing and DJ Donny Dynamite to make the save chasing the M.O.B. off.
Ruff Crossing sought to continue his war with the M.O.B. as he, with Nikki at his side, faced off against Justin James, who was joined by Jade and Black Iron. The two traded a series of holds and each showed their technical side for much of the match's start, until finally the wicked tendencies of James and the M.O.B. took over and James distracted the ref to allow Iron to strike. While there was plenty of action in the ring, it was the heated antics between former friends Jade and Nikki that drew the attention of the ref while Iron slid a chair into the ring for James. RC intercepted the weapon as the ref was turning his attention back to the match, and James seeing an opportunity threw himself to the mat grabbing his head and groaning while RC stood dumbfounded with the chair still in his hands, the ref seeing the illegal weapon declared the match a DQ victory for James, and the M.O.B attacked, taking turns violently beating RC, leaving him laying alone and beaten in the ring.
The night of M.O.B. terror looked to continue as Trevor Blanchard came out, with the rest of the M.O.B. in tow, to face the #1 contender for the World Title, Chris Cairo. But before things could kick off, seeing that a potential World Champion could be beneficial to their cause, the M.O.B. offered Cairo a spot on their team, but Cairo declined and the match was underway. Cairo showed that he was just as technically savvy as the crafty vet and worked over the left shoulder of Blanchard with a variety of maneuvers. Blancharrd fighting out shot Cairo with furious speed out of the ring between the ropes to crash in the first row of seats allowing the M.O.B. to attack at ringside while Blanchard held the ref at bay. Blanchard stayed in control after that until Guy Bower came back out to ringside and distracted Blanchard allowing Cairo to roll him up for a quick pin, and Cairo and Bower went to the back together in victory.
The main event was unlike anything I've seen in all my years of watching wrestling, pitting Outta Control's Jimmy Blaze and Tag Champs Joey Cece and Terry Allen against Regional Champion King Kanoa and the sInmates Dehok and X-Con with James Staublein.
First out were the sInmates and to the shock and hilarious delight of the fans, they were wearing... dresses! Kanoa and Melanie Cruise came out looking quite confused at the appearance of their teammates in this contest. Outta Control came out next all three united and as the match began... Well, I've got to tell you fans, if you weren't there, there's no way I can accurately describe all the action that took place, but I can give a few details, such as the amazing 3 on 3 suplex that saw all the members of OC joined together suplexing their opponents all at once. And of course then there was the finish! As TA and Cece took the sInmates to the outside brawling out of the building Blaze took the fight to Kanoa inside the ring until Cruise broke up a potential pinfall, sending Blaze to the outside where he grabbed one of the guitars left on display by "Mr. Elvis Presolo" and smashed it over her head leaving her knocked out at ringside at which point he returned to the ring and a flatliner later it was victory for Outta Control. The sInmates returned to the ring to beat down the owner of the company and while Blaze was laying in the ring, Kanoa dictated that if he would have to wear boots if he lost at WrestleRage, then Blaze would have to put his hair on the line. Cece and Allen returned battered to the ring to chase off the sInamtes and Kanoa, and OC stood in the ring victorious to end the night!
