It was a record-shattering crowd on hand for PCW's November 22nd show at Oak Lawn, IL. 6-Man tag match for PCW tag team titles Whiplash/Wally Wilde (c) & Rick Knight vs The Foreign Exchange went to a double count out
RIC FLAIR COMES TO PCW The Nature Boy came to the ring with a lovely girl on each arm. He reminisced about how much he and other wrestlers loved performing in Chicago and thanked the fans for the great career he'd had. Then with a "woo" and a patented Nature Boy strut, he was off to meet the fans.

This is nothing against PCW at all, but I felt the experience for Flair was rushed and impersonal. Sure, during the picture session he chatted and was very nice to everyone, but when I got back around for my autograph I felt very rushed. Flair looked pissed and didn't say very much at all to me. I dunno how it was for the people at the front of the line, but it just didn't feel like most autograph sessions I've been to. The people around me felt the same. Maybe it was us at the end of the line. Who knows.

Meeting Falir was a great experience...It appeared as though he did have some issues..When I was allowed into the autograph area, He was away from his table having a pretty heated discussion with his agent and several people made the reference to "Get Paul", who appeared shortly thereafter...
The issue seemed to probably be money related...It was approx. 9:00 PM when I got my autograph and I was about 80-100 in line for super tickets and had already waited over 2 hours..meaning there were over 100 supertickets to go before the general admission people could even line up...At the pace the autographs were going, I wouldnt have been surprised if Flair was there at midnight...
That being said, maybe he had a flight to catch or did not anticipate nor was paid for signing autographs for 5 hours...

I think he was promised an advance copy of Paul's book, and wanted to make sure that it was, in fact, part of the deal. "Gate! To! Gate! Whoooo."

I have heard rumors that Flair only stays at buildings for 3 hours. If it was 9 pm, it was getting close to his 3 hours if that is indeed his limit. Most athletes at autograph shows (I go to all of them in Rosemont and as a matter of fact just returned today from getting Lou Piniella's autograph there) are only there for 90 minutes to 2 hours. So perhaps he was upset that the line was still so long at 9 pm.
He was a total class act when we got to meet him so I can't complain but it sucks if he was getting uptight towards the end. I hate it when that happens at the autograph shows I go to and it happens a lot. I once watched Hank Aaron get up and walk out when there was still a line waiting for him because his time was up and he wasn't going to stay another second. I've seen Willie Mays tell a little kid that he did more than "make that f*cking catch" which threw us for such a loop that we sold our ticket because we no longer wanted his autograph. Weird things go on at these signings. I couldn't imagine getting upset being paid top money to simply sign my name on things...unless the people I was signing things for were being asshats.
Again, I don't know if he puts a 3 hour limit on his appearances but it was a rumor that I've heard and I'm throwing it out there as a possible reason for why he may have been upset at 9.
Now...Ben Jordan asked for me to give my opinion on the show. I don't know how many others give a damn about my opinion on the show so if you don't want to read it, stop now.
Thank you PL for your generosity and hospitality at the show last night. It was greatly appreciated. Truly.
The show wasn't really my cup of tea but then again, just about any wrestling show isn't going to be my cup of tea anymore. I thought some of the guys showed some potential and if they continue to work hard and make improvements, they could be people that fans definitely want to see on shows. There were several who seemed to want to make those improvements and get better...so I wish them the best and hope that they do what is necessary to improve.
The fans around me seemed to be having a good time and that is what is important. That is what counts more than the opinion of someone who doesn't really like wrestling anymore.
Congrats on the big turnount (looked to me to be in the 750 - 1000 range...maybe more.)
Thanks again PL for everything. I hope this show carries momentum forward for you guys.
