It's with both great joy and a heavy heart that I bring you the results tonight. They're going to be a little short and sweet, because if you weren't there- there's no way I can paint a picture fitting enough to describe the amazing night of action to the standing room only crowd and also because I have a lot on my mind... but that will come later.
First up to open the night was the POWW Tag Title Gauntlet between Champs Outta Control, and Wild Mayhem, sInmates, and the newly reformed team of NightBreed. WM and the sInmates kicked the match off with WM throwing a flurry of offence before the size and strength of X-Con and Dehok caught up with them. Mikey Wild was isolated from his corner and abused for a while, but after a quick tag to Matt Mayhem and Mayhem hitting a crossbody on Dehok who caught him, Wild drop kicked his partner, knocking the two men down and giving his team the pin. NightBreed came out next and made short work of WM, continuing the abuse on Wild, and put him away with a tandem finish. Outta Control came out next, and while Baltazar and Austin Roberts managed to keep Terry Allen isolated for most of the match, Joey Cece managed to get into the ring and the two champions retained their belts with a solid victory over the NightBreed.
Joey Eastman then came out to inform the crowd that due to personal reasons Rick Paradise had stepped down as POWW Commish, and as a result would not be acting as the special enforcer during the ten man tag later that night.
Next up was the Regional Title match between King Kanoa and Jimmy Blaze, where if Kanoa won, Blaze would have to cut off his hair, and if Blaze won, Kanoa would have to wear boots. The two went back and forth for a time, and it looked like Blaze had Kanoa put away, but Melanie Cruise jumped up onto the apron to distract the ref, bringing Rain out to beat down Cruise. Kanoa gave chase and Rain fled to the back with Kanoa on her heels, but he didn't return to the ring in time to break the ref's 10 count, and so Blaze won the match. However, since the title doesn't change hands on a countout, Kanoa retains. But from here on out- he must wear boots to wrestle in POWW.
The Submission match between Chris Chaos and Andrew MacLeod followed, and to kick it off, MacLeod unleashed a brutal beating onto Chaos's left shoulder. Chaos favored his shoulder for the rest of the match, but managed to struggle through the pain. The two traded holds back and forth with neither having a clear advantage until MacLeod's attempted figure four was reversed by Chaos into a sharpshooter for the win.
After that came the POWW Royal with the winner getting a title shot any time in the year 2009. In the end of the match it came down to Ruff Crossing and The Great Malaki who battled back and forth perched precariously on the apron after both had gone over the top rope, but there could be only one, and when it was said and done, Malaki was left standing much to the dismay of the crowd.
Melanie Cruise looked to get revenge on Rain for attacking her earlier in the night when these two met in the ring. The two traded holds evenly for much of the start of the match, with each then nailing big moves to put their opponent down, but not enough for the 3. Rain had the upper hand on Cruise and it looked as though victory was a heartbeat away, but Cruise crawled to the corner claiming an injury, which gave Kanoa the opening to dive in and hit the Lei'd to Waste on Rain, which Cruise took advantage of with the pinfall.
The 10 man tag between the M.O.B. and Team POWW was easily one of the most insane things I've ever seen, and my mind is still reeling. At first it looked as though Forsaken had turned his back on his team when he came out in black and white facepaint, but he quickly calmed all worries when he took it to the M.O.B. Every man involved in this match both gave and took their licks, and kept coming. but in the end it was Black Iron spraying the mist in ref Pee Wee Parrella's eyes that sent him down, prompting ref PJ Drummond to come out, but he caught the bad end of a Forsaken clothesline meant for Justin James, sending him down as well. The M.O.B. managed to handcuff every member of team POWW to the ropes leaving only Ruff Crossing in the ring, taking abuse from each member of the M.O.B. and a few weapons, until Jimmy Blaze came out with the ref's shirt and took a chair from Tommy Capone. But instead of putting down the M.O.B., he nailed Ruff Crossing with it. Black Iron made the pin, and Blaze revealed that he had in fact joined the M.O.B. He also said that this was what you got when you crossed the boss, stating Crossing's blood was on his hands this night, he then made an anouncement that in a couple weeks in Fox Lake it'll be Jimmy Blaze against myself, POWW Magazine Editor in Chief- Skitz M. Jones. I honestly don't know what I did to draw the ire of the POWW owner, but hopefully I can find out before things get out of hand.
Trying not to let that anouncement get to me, it was then time for the main event.
World Title on the line in a fan's bring the weapons: Treasure Chest match. First of it's kind ever.
Between being somewhat distracted and using the 2nd camera to make sure to catch all the action, my notes are sparing here, but as these two men traded big move for big move, coming off the top ropes, beating each other down both on the mat, and out in the crowd, weapons of all sorts and sizes being used... but after all 4 locks had been removed and the 2 men continued brawling in the seats, the chest was moved to the center of the ring. Freedom took out Cairo with a blow from his nightstick, and looked about to retain the belt, when Cairo slammed the lid back down on his fingers, sending his reeling, allowing Cairo to grab the best and pick up his first POWW World Title . That's right folks- new World Champion: Chris Cairo.
On that note, if you weren't there, you should wish that you had been... and I guess I'll see you all on the 6th of December.
