Here's the commercial that aired in Des Moines prior to Black Friday. This was shown locally during Smackdown and even aired once on CBS during the Thanksgiving Day NFL game.
3XW Black Friday
Nov. 28th, 2008
inPlay – Des Moines, Iowa
The house seemed a little more packed than usual as fans and families filed in to see 3XWrestling’s Black Friday live at InPlay in downtown Des Moines. Tonight’s show would help benefit the Toys for Tots program in central Iowa. A discount was given to fans that brought an unopened toy with them to donate. Nearly every seat was filled by the time ring announcer KL Snow made his way to the ring with his signature Disturbed theme, cheered on by the fans.
Kraig Keesaman vs. Brian Jacobs
The show kicked off with the Nordic Kraig Keesaman taking on Missouri native Brian Jacobs. Keesaman came to the ring with his usual leather attire but was also adorned by a Viking helmet, complete with horns. After a weight dispute, Jacobs and Keesaman locked horns. Jacobs got the early advantage with a series of armdrags and flips, outsmarting and out maneuvering Keesaman. After every move, Keesaman would scream at the ref, to the disdain of fans. The beginning was all Jacobs as he shut Keesaman up and went to town on his left arm, and dazzled the fans with a hand spring flying back elbow off the ropes. Momentum took a violent turn after Keesaman downed Jacobs with a devastating bicycle kick that garnered a round of groans from the crowd. Keesaman instantly took the upper hand, bearing down on Jacobs with clubbing blows and forearms, dealing knees to the gut, and nailing a massive shoulder breaker for a long two count. Keesaman hit his signature move after throwing Jacobs to the corner and chopped him down with a series of Nordic Hammers, capitalizing with a leaping axe handle in the middle of the ring. After the pin was broken up, Jacobs started to fight back, and the two traded blows, the fans getting behind Jacobs, and he seized control with a springboard bulldog off the turnbuckle. Jacobs kept it going with a couple of head scissors that sent Keesaman retreating to the outside. The fans grew loud as Jacobs climbed the turnbuckle and leapt off onto Keesaman on the entry way. After pulling Keesaman into the ring, Jacobs went for a Tornado DDT from the corner but Keesaman reversed! After a series of held breath reversals, Keesaman finished it with the Nordic Spike for the three.
Winner: Kraig Keesaman
Mark Sterling vs. "Unbreakable" Zach Thompson
A new referee made her debut in the second match of the night, officiating the bout between Mark Sterling and Zach Thompson. Sterling came out, accompanied by Todd Countryman and the 3XW Tag Team Championship belt, and was booed by the crowd. Sterling picked on the kids in the front row, unloading a round of snot shots at one of them. Sterling hit the ring and screamed for a microphone, then proceeded to tell the fans exactly where he stood in the company compared to the Northstar Express. He told fans that NSE didn’t sell, that it was the Gentlemen’s Club that fans came to see. He told fans that the NSE were nothing, that he was the champion and thus among the highest paid men in the company. Before he could finish, Thompson hit the ring to a big ovation from the fans. Thompson works the crowd a bit before squaring off with Sterling. Sterling overpowered Thompson from the get go, hurling him to the corner. The fans cheered Thompson, and Sterling responded with the always mature, “Lalala, I can’t hear you.” The action goes back and forth, Sterling delivering massive blows, Thompson hitting a desperate reversal to swing momentum back. Thompson hit a nasty looking moonsault that might have hurt him more than Sterling, and Sterling immediately capitalized with a pair of clamps on his shoulders. Sterling worked the sensitive nerve, and spat in his hair for good measure. Sterling started working Thompson over, using his superior size to hit headbutts and shoulder thrusts at every side of the ring. Adding insult to injury, Sterling stamped on Thompson’s extended hand, then locked on a waistlock. Thompson broke free of the waistlock and went for a crossbody off the ropes, but Sterling caught him midair and after showboating cracked him in half with a rib breaker. Sterling continued to patronize Thompson, forcing him to “taste the turnbuckle.” Thompson was able to scramble away from a Sterling shoulder thrust in the corner, then takes the edge with a high kick to the temple and a leaping splash. Thompson charged Sterling and hit a snappy hurracanrana for only two. Thompson went to put it away as he climbed the turnbuckle, leapt off for a top rope hurracanrana, but Sterling reversed it into a falling powerbomb then slapped on the Gentlemen’s Stretch for the win. Even after the bell rang, Sterling refused to release the hold, and fans rained boos down on him. Mike Sydal came running out from backstage, armed with a monkey wrench, and leapt into the ring as Sterling retreated. Mike helped Thompson to the back as the fans cheered them on.
Winner: Mark Sterling
“The Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade, Aaron Masterson-Slade, AJ Smooth, and Brady A. Dezire
vs.
All-Star, Maddog McDowell, Donnie Peppercricket, and “The Asian Sensation” Ricky Kwong
KL Snow announced the following would be a traditional eight man elimination tag match. Ryan Slade, Aaron Masterson-Slade, AJ Smooth, and Brazy A. Dezire came out bearing Canadian flags and waving them proudly to the disgust of fans. The four entered the ring and they held the flag for all to see, the fans booing angrily. Music hit and the crowd screamed as the team of All-Star, Maddog McDowell, Ricky Kwong, and Donnie Peppercricket came out, All-Star bearing a bat in his return to 3XW. Slade and company dove out of the ring as All-Star and crew took to it, working the crowd for cheers. After the eight men got to their respective positions , Kwong and Masterson took to the ring. Masterson took total control of Kwong with armdrags and snappy moves, keeping Kwong on his toes. Masterson let it all go to his head and taunted the crowd, giving Kwong enough time to get up and take him out. Kwong went off the ropes and hit a leaping splash for only two, then tags in Donnie Peppercricket. Donnie tagged in and sat Masterson up before delivering a pair of stiff kicks to the back. Donnie slammed Masterson down a few times and proceeded to slap on a camel clutch, but after a thumb to the eye, Masterson was able to escape and tag in Smooth. Donnie dodged Smooth’s charge and threw him to the corner. All-Star tagged in, chopped Smooth, then tagged in Maddog. Maddog hoisted Smooth up with a bearhug while All-Star ran to the ropes, the two hitting a clothesline/spinebuster combo that destroyed Smooth. Smooth was able to sneak off an eye rake and tag in Slade, but Slade was tossed about immediately. Kwong tagged back in and nailed a big lariat on Slade. Kwong went for a suplex on Slade, but was blocked and hit got taken up for a big suplex instead. Slade kept his team fresh by tagging in Dezire. Donnie got the tag and came in, but got caught with an impressive spinebuster by Dezire. Smooth got tagged in and caused a distraction, as All-Star and crew tried to rescue Donnie. The ref shouted at them, giving Slade and company time to choke out Donnie. They take turns tagging in and choking Donnie, each breaking and tagging in the next within the legal time limit. After a double suplex by the Newer Era, Masterson kept wearing Donnie down with a stiff dropkick (revenge, mayhaps?). Masterson dragged Donnie to the corner and tagged in Slade, slapping on a headlock and allowing all four men to pummel the unprotected Peppercricket. Slade proceeded to annoy the fans with a rendition of “O, Canada” whilst choking Donnie on the ropes. Momentum swung as Donnie reversed a high impact whip to the corner, Slade crotching himself painfully on the middle turnbuckle. Slade came in and was easily handled by All-Star. All-Star threw Slade about before tagging in Kwong as Slade tagged in Smooth. Smooth and Kwong tango again, and Smooth got thrown out. All-Star dragged Slade out with him and Kwong leapt over the top rope onto all three. Maddog took Masterson and threw him over the top too. Fans called for Maddog to take a leap out, too, but he just paced patiently as the five men struggled to get back into the ring. Smooth was finally able to reenter as the rest take to the apron, and Maddog threw him about with ease. Maddog laid Smooth out then hit a leaping fist, smashing Smooth’s skull, then a leaping leg drop, crushing him even further. Kwong made the tag back in and blasted Smooth with a leaping armbreaker/complete shot that would have garnered the elimination if not for a save by Slade. Slade got heckled by kids at ringside as All-Star came in and made good use of the bull’s-eye on Smooth’s tights. All-Star began working over Smooth’s left arm with a series of armbars and wrenches. Masterson managed to tag himself in and is immediately met by a round of “USA” chants from the crowd as he tried to work over All-Star’s leg. Masterson kept up the energy by tagging in Smooth, letting Smooth slap on a half Boston crab on All-Star. After struggling, All-Star eventually broke free and got to unsteady legs. Smooth ran in and All-Star hoisted him high in the air, press-style, and dropped him with a nasty cutter. Masterson ran in and breaks up the pin, then is able to take All-Star out and hold his legs down while Slade pins to eliminate All-Star.

Masterson was thrown in and dominated, manhandled, and tossed about like a rag doll. Masterson was able to tag out to Slade and the two started swinging momentum as fans angrily chanted “USA” in protest. Slade looked pretty impressive against the bigger Maddog, taking complete control, and using his speed to keep Maddog off his feet. After a tag in to Smooth, Smooth nailed an impressive falling headbutt, but was eliminated soon after when Maddog picked him up in a double handed choke and dropped him with a Sambo Suplex. And how ever since Masterson has done nothing but cost him match after match. With that, Slade took out Masterson’s adoption papers and ripped them up, signifying the end of the Newer Era, and uttering the words, “You will never cost me a match again.”
Winners: All-Star, Maddog McDowell, Donnie Peppercricket, and “The Asian Sensation” Ricky Kwong
“Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell vs. “Torturous” Tony Sly
After the combatants left, KL Snow introduced the Voice of 3XW, Chad Mylan. Mylan came out to a round of boos, a few cheers, and a lot of heckling. Mylan then introduced “Torturous” Tony Sly, the original 3XW Cruiserweight Champion. Sly took the mike away from Mylan and reintroduced himself as the Punk Rock Icon, and even though he’s been away from 3XW for twenty five months, he still deserves your respect and admiration. He talked down Jimmy Rockwell as a hack, someone nowhere near his quality and stock, and just before he could drive home his final point, the pounding strains of Rise Against hit the speakers, announcing Jimmy Rockwell’s arrival. Rockwell came out and Mylan decided to take matters into his own hands and talk down Rockwell, telling him he was nothing and a horrible champion, and that he would get beaten by Sly and himself any day of the week. Rockwell proceeded to clobber Mylan and throw him out of the ring, but was ambushed by Sly as the bell rang! Sly got the early advantage, but Rockwell quickly regained control with a series of head scissors that send Sly out of the ring. Rockwell pursued, but was outmaneuvered by Sly and lost momentum. Sly dominated Rockwell inside the ring and out, showing his alleged superior skill. Sly ran Rockwell all around, and after a whip to the ropes Rockwell went for a head scissors yet again, but got it reversed into a sidewalk slam. Then came a long series of back and forth moves, a Northern Star Suplex reversed into a DDT, Rockwell with a running double knee to the chest in the corner for two, Sly with a Fameasser for two, a missile dropkick by Rockwell to set up the finish. Rockwell ascended the turnbuckle, stalking Sly, but Sly shoved the ref into the ropes! Rockwell gets crotched and falls off the turnbuckle. Sly struggles to take advantage, the two struggle, but Rockwell hits a neckbreaker for the win.
Winner: “Torturous” Tony Sly
“Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt vs. Mike Sydal
Rage Against the Machine’s “Bulls on Parade” hit the speakers as Jeremy Wyatt came out to a round of boos. Wyatt entered the ring and discarded his jacket before Mike Sydal made his way out. Sydal got a huge pop, the fans cheering for the talented young athlete as he entered the ring. Wyatt pulls the mike away from Snow and points at Sydal, telling him he has no beef, that they’re totally cool… except that one fan (Wyatt pointed to a lady in the first row) messaged him on MySpace, saying just how badly Sydal was gonna kick his ass, and for that Sydal would suffer. The two tied up, but despite Wyatt’s promise, Sydal controlled the very beginning with arm wringers and a series of reversals. There was no real advantage as Sydal and Wyatt just traded moves back and forth, Sydal showcasing his agility and speed. Sydal got thrown to the ropes and hit a hand spring elbow reverse, Wyatt was thrown to the corner and responded by running out and hitting a leaping lariat. Wyatt to control with that and dragged Sydal out of the ring, right to the fan in the front row, and beat him down - including ripping a necklace the fan made for Sydal right off Sydal's neck! Wyatt is in total control as he physically dissects Sydal, particularly with a nasty elbow to the temple. Sydal started coming back, but was cut short with a Wyatt lariat. Sydal tried again with a running crossbody, but Wyatt rolled through and tossed Sydal into the tree of woe before hitting a nasty running dropkick. Wyatt tied Sydal up with a reverse Boston crab/camel clutch combo, suspending Sydal above the ring, and proceeded to drive his head into the ring repeatedly. Wyatt continued on with some nasty offense, a double footed stomp, a front dropkick to the chest for two. Wyatt ascended the turnbuckle for some sort of move, but Sydal was able to recover enough to leap to the top and hit a superplex that left both men on the mat! The crowd clapped and cheered, urging both men to their feet, trying to give Sydal the strength to win. Sydal was able to capitalize and get up first, allowing him to hit a dropkick and catch Wyatt with a few head scissors as he comes charging back. Sydal leapt up for a hurracanrana, but Wyatt countered it into a powerbomb and covered for two. The two went back and forth again, and Sydal punctuated a series of counters with a standing moonsault, but Wyatt dodged! Sydal struggled back to his feet and got caught with Wyatt’s Kansas Tumbleweed for the pin.
Winner: “Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt
After the match, Wyatt continued his vicious assault on Sydal, just pouring it on. Referees tried to intervene, but Wyatt threw them away. President Skylar Pierce ran down from the back to break it up, and does momentarily with a threat. Pierce promised Wyatt that if he doesn’t stop he’d never get a title match against Tyler Cook. Wyatt, thirsty for revenge, immediately broke it off and backed away, allowing refs to pull Sydal to safety. However, not a second had passed before Wyatt tackled Pierce and began wailing away on the President. Thompson hit the ring to save his partner, and Wyatt retreated, satisfied with his assault. Before going to the back, Sydal went over to his fan and raised her arm and gave her a hug.

Lumberjack Match for the 3XW Championshp
Casanova © vs. “Delicious” Devin Carter
The good guys and the bad guys came out, surrounding the ring and ensuring that the wrestlers would stay in the ring. Casanova came out with his title, sporting a thick beard, and entered the ring to a deafening boom of boos. Carter came out second and high fived fans, but was blocked by Sterling and his crew. Sterling kept Carter from getting to his side of the ring at both ends, keeping a constant stare down going. Carter and Nova squared off in the ring, and Nova’s out, beat down and thrown back in, out and in, repeatedly. Sterling and crew tried to interfere, but every time Nova was just thrown back in. Carter assaulted Nova, hot with fury at Nova’s betrayal, and rained down upon him with move after move, even tossing Nova across the ring by his beard. Carter nearly broke his hand with a devastating chop on Nova before tossing him out. A brawl broke out over Nova at ringside as good guys and bad guys collided, and Carter leaped over the top rope and crashed down on top of them all. After reentering the ring, Nova took control with some dirty tactics, choking Carter in the corner and tossing him to the hungry wolves. Carter got back in and was immediately jumped by Nova. Nova wailed away, wearing away with headlocks and chipping Carter down with stomps and punches. Nova dropped Carter and hit a running seton splash then followed with a devastating knee to the face as Carter got back up. Nova scooped up Carter in suplex formation and dropped him belly first across the ropes. Nova continued his domination with a back body drop and a nasty octopus stretch with some knees in between. A brawl breaks out at ringside again over the two as they collide at ringside. I was fortunate enough to get several moments on my camera as I saw good guys and bad guys from all walks of life in 3XW fighting to the death over these two men. After getting back inside, Carter was able to catch a charging Nova with a sitout hip toss that garnered a two count. After yet another episode on the outside, Carter and Nova began climbing the turnbuckle as the brawling continued. Carter superplexed Nova off the turnbuckle to the outside onto all the lumberjacks, knocking them all down and eliciting a “That was awesome!” chant from the crowd. Fans clapped cheered the fantastic match as all men struggled to get back up. The two were able to crawl inside, but were unable to get up for quite some time. When they finally got up, they traded blows and a great exchange occurred. Lariat for two, Carter went for the Tasty Treat but Nova reversed, Nova hit a spinebuster for a two count, Carter went for the Tasty Treat again, but Sterling and Smooth ran in. All the lumberjacks hit the ring and senior referee Steve Biley was forced to count it a no contest. Good guys cleared the ring as Sterling and crew retreated, leaving Ryan Slade all by himself to get decimated by Carter and crew.
Winner: No contest
Todd Countryman grabbed the mike away from Snow and told Carter and fans that two title shots was too many and no more would be given. He told fans that Carter had tried on two occasions now to beat Nova and had failed to win both times, so his time was done. The fans chanted for one more match, and President Pierce came out to interject. He told everyone in attendance and everyone backstage that we would see Casanova versus Devin Carter again, in January. Devin Carter would get his fair title shot one more time. Fans cheered before exiting what was a fine November show.
