On December 20, 2008 - Pro Wrestling Phoenix proved that not even snow, ice, and bitter cold conditions would stop us from giving our fans the best wrestling in the Mid-West.
*** The LONRs' (Mark Sterling & Darrien Sanders) defeated the duo of Jimmy Rockwell and Ricky Kwong. The newcomers fought hard and looked impressive, but the veteran former champions, The LONRs', picked up the victory.
*** Chris Havius defeated Preston Maxwell. After the bout Havius said he thought he should be in line for a future PWP Heavyweight Title shot, which the crowd seemed to agree with.
*** In a Texas Tornado Tag Match where both the PWP Tag Team Titles and the man to be pinned or submit's career were on the line - Jaysin Strife & Vic Victory became the NEW PWP Tag Team Champions, as they simultaneously pinned Hype Gotti - thus, Gotti's career is over!!!
*** Stephen Saint defeated the debuting Yellow Dog, although not without using the ropes for leverage. The Yellow Dog proved to be very impressive (and entertaining too!) - if not easily distracted…by things like his own tail!
*** Joey Daniels was victorious in a 3-Way Dance over Donnie Peppercricket and "The Passion" Zac James. In a very uncharacteristic move, Joey hooked Donnie's tights for the win. Even then, Donnie offered his hand in congratulations to his former partner, however Joey responded with a slap to the face.
*** "The Rebel" Jeremy Wyatt retained his PWP Heavyweight Championship by defeating "Number One" Brett Young. This was a classic PWP feud revisited, and these two men did not disappoint. However in the end, "The Rebel" hit his Lightning Spiral to once again prove that he is "the man" right now in PWP.
As soon as the match was over - Hype Gotti came out to address the crowd. He said that he understood the stipulations of the match and that he would abide by them, and retire - however, he did go to PWP management and asked one request, which was granted - and that was that he be able to leave on his own terms. Therefore - Hype Gotti will be allowed to have one FINAL match, against an opponent of his choosing - Hype's choice was the champ himself, Jeremy Wyatt. The challenge was made, and Wyatt accepted. So here is how it will go down: On Saturday January 17, 2009 - at Year of the Phoenix IV - Hype Gotti will face "The Rebel" Jeremy Wyatt, with the PWP Heavyweight Title on the line. Win, lose, or draw - this will be Hype's last match ever. If he should win the match, he will be able to retire as champion, the title will then be declared vacant, and a tournament will be held in February to crown a new champion. Hype vowed to give absolutely everything he's got in this, his very last match ever, and it is probably safe to assume that, he will indeed.
More details on Year of the Phoenix IV coming early this week.
Thank you, and Happy Holidays from Pro Wrestling Phoenix!
