Awesome crowd in a really great environment for wrestling - very reminiscent to a classic TV studio taping. John Pemble from Iowa Public Radio was at the show doing a story on 3XW. Enough fans showed up that there were barely enough chairs to sit everybody!
1. Winner gets a shot at the title of his choosing - Jeremy Wyatt defeated Arik Cannon, Ryan Cruz, Ryan Slade, Donnie Peppercricket and Ricky Kwong in a Six Man Scramble match by pinning Kwong after a Kansas Tumbleweed.
After the match, Wyatt continued his assault on Kwong, only for Tyler Cook to run out and save Kwong from further injury. Wyatt announced that he will take his shot at the Pure title on March 20 at the Des Moines Social Club, provided Cook was still the champion after his defense later tonight.
2. Malia Hosaka defeated Miz Martinez after rolling up Martinez and putting a foot on the bottom rope for added leverage.
3. Kraig Keesaman beat Nate Bash in an excellent matchup following a devastating Nordic Spike with Bash seated on the top turnbuckle.
4. Carlisle-native Jimmy Rockwell successfully defended the Cruiserweight title over Jaysin Strife following a beautiful senton bomb off the top rope. Rockwell was extraordinarily popular with the crowd.
5. Another Carlisle-native, "Delicious" Devin Carter," beat "Torturous" Tony Sly following an insane top rope legdrop by Carter. With the victory, Carter has now earned another shot at the 3XW Heavyweight title at a future event.
6. The Gentlemen's Club - Mark Sterling and Gage Octane - successfully defended the 3XW Tag Team titles against The High Flyers - Zach Thompson and Mike Sydal - following a tandem diamond-cutter on Sydal. An excellent tag team bout, probably one of the best 3XW has seen in the last couple years.
7. Tyler Cook successfully defended the 3XW Pure title over a rejuvenated Aaron Masterson. Masterson, a life-long fan of "The Price is Right," VERY excitedly entered the ring from the crowd to the sounds of the TPIR theme song as KL Snow announced "AARON MASTERSON...COME ON DOWN!" His new wrestling tights are neon green with, shall we say, "Price is Right" elements. He also wore a plain black t-shirt to the ring with a big "AARON" name tag, just like you see a contestant wear on the show.
Following the match, Cook and Masterson shook hands, and after Masterson went to the locker room, Jeremy Wyatt again ran to the ring and attacked Tyler Cook as he was walking to the back. A massive, almost riot-like brawl erupted, with the locker room clearing and teams of wrestlers stuggling to keep both men apart. President Skylar Pierce ruled that if either man touched each other before March 20, the match would be called off.
8. Casanova impressively defended the 3XW Heavyweight title over Maddog McDowell, finishing him off with the Sleeperhold.
From top to bottom, this was a truly excellent show and I encouraged all wrestling fans to pick it up on DVD once it's released by SEP Video.
