"Legend". It's a word that is thrown around all too often in the wrestling business. After his stunning defeat over Kamala, at "Beginnings" Dan Lawrence decided, that he himself, will be known from this day on as "Legendary" Dan Lawrence. Upon hearing this declaration, DREAMWAVE President, J.C. Costilli was quick to let "Legendary" Dan Lawrence know his thoughts on this situation. "Wrestling is like a game of human chess, and you won the first game Dan. Well played. If you are going to push the rules, I'm going to be forced to make a move, myself. My first move is this: signed, sealed, and delivered for "Open Roads, Broken Dreams" is "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka vs. "Legendary" Dan Lawrence." Coming off his match at WrestleMania 25, just three weeks earlier, Snuka promised Costilli that he would show up in great shape to fight "Legendary". When Dreamwavewrestling.com asked Lawrence for comment, he barked back: "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka is nothing more than another stepping stone for me. People have bet against "Legendary" my entire life. I'm used to being backed into a corner. I'll destroy Snuka, just like I did with Kamala. When I'm done with Snuka, I'm going to be paying very close attention to who advances to the finals of the Championship Cup." Either a Hall of Famer will continue his ascent into the sunset, or a new star will continue his rise to "Immortality".

Eight men started. Four men remain. One more victory could put either Derek St. Holmes or Juice Robinson into the Finals of the Championship Cup Tournament. At "Beginnings", the wily veteran, Derek St. Holmes, was victorious in his round 1 match with Steve Boz with a little unintentional help from Miss December. She was accidentally knocked off the ring apron and lost her shoe during the process. Ever the opportunist, St. Holmes used the shoe to knock out Steve Boz. He won the bout via referee stoppage, after he applied an STF. It remains unclear, whether Miss December's interference was intentional or not. Juice Robinson gained entry into round 2 with a stunning first round upset over Prince Mustafa Ali. Juice may have merely been in the right place at the right time. Egotistico Fantastico, seeking vengeance from the earlier interference of Prince Ali in his match, distracted Ali, allowing Juice Robinson to score the pinfall and move on to round 2. Regardless of the circumstances, Juice is now in a position to pull off the "Cinderella Story" of the year. Fate was on his side at "Beginnings", and he must make the most of this opportunity at "Open Roads, Broken Dreams". In it's infantile stages, DREAMWAVE Wrestling has certainly never seen an experience mismatch such as this. Juice Robinson has to be careful to not allow St. Holmes the opportunity to snap on the STF submission maneuver, that will almost certainly spell the end for Robinson. Derek St. Holmes must also try his best to not allow the striking abilities of the young southpaw to become a factor. Will Juice's youthful exuberance be enough to lead him to victory on May 2nd? Or will St. Holmes and Miss December prove to be too much for Juice Robinson to handle?

Three seconds away from "Immortality". That's the story of the "Silent Intensity" Austin Roberts vs. "Next" Nick Brubaker Round 2 Championship Cup match scheduled for May 2nd at "Open Roads, Broken Dreams". With a win, one of these men will go on to the Championship Cup Finals to challenge the winner of the Derek St. Holmes vs. Juice Robinson match, also taking place May 2nd. "Silent Intensity" Austin Roberts earned his way into round 2 after a hard fought victory over the fire breathing Sam Hayne. Roberts was approached for an interview before the match (which can be seen exclusively on the "Beginnings" DVD) and simply stated, "I do my talking in the ring". He certainly did just that at "Beginnings" on April 4th. "Next" Nick Brubaker had a slightly different path into round 2. Brubaker was an eleventh hour replacement when a competitor that was previously schedule to appear, had to withdraw due to injury. Having only two weeks to prepare, Brubaker made the most of the opportunity and defeated Egotistico Fantastico in the first round. While the way he won was the source of some controversy, at the end of the day, "Next" had his hand raised by DREAMWAVE Senior Official, Jason Harding. The stakes have never been higher for these two warriors, and each of them is one victory away from the ultimate prize, The DREAMWAVE Championship. They will certainly pull out all the stops in this contest, but how much did their round 1 matches take out of them? They will have only from April 4th to May 2nd to train for this fight. Can the young upstart who wasn't even meant to be in the tournament be victorious?...Or will the quiet confidence of "Silent Intensity" be enough to catapult him into the finals?

Anger is a powerful emotion. It's an emotion that usually requires time to fester and grow. For two men, it has developed very quickly. At "Beginnings", Ali interrupted a pre-show interview with Ego and the two came to blows in the lobby of the Knights of Columbus. The heated, brief exchange, proved to have some serious consequences. Egotistico Fantastico was facing Nick Brubaker in a first round Championship Cup match, and seemed to have the match won until Prince Mustafa Ali interjected in the match, knocking Ego out cold with a kick to the head. Brubaker went on to earn the victory and move on to round two. Ego was just left empty, with his dreams of becoming the first ever DREAMWAVE Champion, broken. Not one to sit around and revel in his self pity, Ego came out during Prince Ali's first round Championship Cup match with Juice Robinson, and distracted Ali to the point that he lost the match. Yet another brutal fight broke out and it took nearly 10 minutes backstage to break the melee apart. A feud that has quickly become very intense, will continue on May 2nd at "Open Roads, Broken Dreams" when Egotistico Fantastico will take on Prince Mustafa Ali. Blinded by anger, both men have cost each other a golden opportunity to become the first ever DREAMWAVE Champion.

At "Beginnings", both "Roughneck" Jay Ryan and Steve Boz set out to make an impact and impress a new crop of fans. With Ryan looking for a guaranteed contract and Boz chasing the title, they both came up short in their first DREAMWAVE matches. The "Roughneck" did battle in a contract match with young standout GT Vega. Although Vega got the win, Ryan was dominant at times and looked like he was going to be victor. In the end, however, a bit of arrogance and a loss of focus ended up costing him his contract. He'll try for some redemption at Open Roads, Broken Dreams on May 2nd. "The Unsigned Superstar" also came up short in his first round match with Derek St. Holmes, after Miss December's shoe became a factor. Referee, Jason Harding called a stop to the contest when Boz could no longer intelligently defend himself. Boz was devastated once he realized what happened. Boz is looking at DREAMWAVE as a way to revitalize and refresh his career. Becoming the first ever DREAMWAVE Champion would have made that a reality. There has been some buzz going around the DREAMWAVE locker room about Boz "not having it anymore". Some say he has lost a step and is not as effective as he once was. Regardless of their paths, both of these men are desperately seeking a win on May 2nd to get their careers in DREAMWAVE back on the right path. With so many hungry competitors knocking down the door trying to get an opportunity in the company, it's very important to stay relevant and keep winning. President, J.C. Costilli will certainly have his eyes on this match.

At "Beginnings", GT Vega "Roughneck" Jay Ryan squared off in a "Contract Match", in which the winner was awarded a contract with DREAMWAVE Wrestling. GT Vega shocked Jay Ryan, and everyone in the building when he defeated Ryan and earned his way into DREAMWAVE. President, J.C. Costilli, made it abundantly clear that while he was impressed with Vega's victory, he has to continue to prove himself. "People are knocking down our door trying to get into DREAMWAVE. I want Vega to appreciate what he has accomplished here. We don't let just anyone compete in DREAMWAVE. Now that you are here, you have to prove yourself." Vega, inspired by both his victory, and Costilli's words, has signed an open contract to compete at "Open Roads, Broken Dreams." "I am proud to be a part of DREAMWAVE and will fight anyone to prove that I belong here.", said Vega when asked for comment. While one might admire his fighting spirit, you also have to question his common sense. Vega could put himself at an extreme disadvantage, not knowing his opponent. May 2nd, we'll see how Vega's decision plays out.

Last month at "Beginnings", Jason Hades and Hammett faced off in the first ever match in the history of DREAMWAVE Wrestling. In a closely contested match Hammett pulled out a narrow victory . Due to the overwhelming response from the DREAMWAVE fans, we are fortunate enough to see it one more time. Keeping good on his promise to listen to the voices of the fans, newly appointed DREAMWAVE President, J.C. Costilli, has booked this rematch for "Open Roads, Broken Dreams". The fans asked to see it one more time, and they will get their wish on May 2nd. "The pressure of being in the first ever match in company history, may or may not have played a part in their first contest" according to J.C. Costilli. "These two tore the house down at "Beginnings", and it's only fair that everyone gets to see it one more time." Costilli added. Hades is seeking his shot at redemption at "Open Roads, Broken Dreams", while Hammett is looking to continue climbing up the rankings in DREAMWAVE. Their score will be settled on May 2nd, 2009.

Great timing for Dreamwave here. Snuka was just on PPV, so he might pop a gate. I can't imagine him wrestling for too long, however.
