Spectacular Entertainment delivered on the promise of good lucha libre on April 26th at the El Rey Ballroom located at 3504 s Western ave. Though small the venue was beaming with excited lucha libre fans. I can't be sure of the attendance but my best guess would be two hundred people. Maybe not the kind of crowd you'd find at LA ARENA MEXICO but the crowd was really into the show.
First match Angel de la Muerte defeated Electron.
Second match Impacto got a dq win over Rey Fuego when his mask came off during the third fall.
Lucha especial The Escobedo bros. defeated Rayo Laser and Rey Makawi in what was a surprisingly good match. The third fall saw the introduction of a crutch which was broken over Rey Makawi's head and the tecnicos retalliating with a bucket.
Semi main event saw Rayman defeat Olimpico in what was the match of the night. Olimpico and Rayman put on one hell of a match with lots of false finishes, both men winding up with their opponent's mask, and a tope suicida from Rayman onto Olimpico that sent Olimpico sprawling three rows and into a wall.
In the main event La Parka and Atlantis tangled and despite referee Apenita's every attempt to thwart La Parka he got the win after an exchange of low blows the ref didn't see.
The show started very promptly, just five minutes past the 6pm belltime. There were some glitches, the biggest being during the main event when someone inexplicably turned on the fog machine during the first fall engulfing the entire ring in smoke and obscuring the action, but for the most part the show was a real success.
SPECTACULAR ENTERTAINMENT promised a good lucha libre card with big names and they delivered. Kudos to them.
