Chicagoland Professional Wrestling held a benefit show for the Brady Family of Harvard. The event was held at Harvard High School with all proceeds going to the Brady's. (For more information check these stories out: www.nwherald.com/articles/2009/06/12/r_axjgg1hht9wtkvkqggbumq/ & www.nwherald.com/articles/2009/07/16/r_4h2pjz9hty2vlpp4fc7tia/ )
The show opened with CLPW ring girls, Charm and Midnight walking ring announcer Mike Vest out to the ring. Mike gave the opening comments and introduced the 8 Year Undefeated NWA Missouri State Champion Johnny Armonni. Armonni came out to talk about how stupid it was for him to be donating his time to a family from Harvard, let alone being in Harvard for a match. Armonni talked about being from McHenry and how much better the Warriors are over the Hornets. At that point, the TradeMark came out and interrupted Armonni. TradeMark stated Harvard was his hometown and he would not let anybody talk trash about it. TradeMark relayed a message to the CLPW Superstars and those in attendance that Frank "The Tank" Melson had left Ring Announcer Mike Vest in charge for the evening since he and CLPW Commissioner Gordan would not be in attendance. With that being said, Vest made the main event right there. It would be Johnny Armonni vs. The TradeMark in an "In School Suspension fight match" with no rules and falls count anywhere match. Naturally Armonni protested and was very un-happy. Vest told Armonni he would have to fight the match or be stripped of the belt immediately. Armonni left the ring with TradeMark left behind smiling.
Vest started to talk about all the great matches that would be on hand for the night when GK Williams, manager for CLPW Pro-X Champion Jason Kross, came out to interrupt. Williams stated it would not be fair for Kross to put his championship on the line for a benefit show. Williams stated there was no one worthy in the locker room who could even last one minute with Kross. At that point, Kross came out to the ring trying to get his manager to leave the ring before he caused anymore damage. While this was going on, Irish Andy Anderson with his Irish troop came out to the ring. Anderson explained he wanted a shot at the Pro-X title and wanted it tonight! GK Williams protested with a "No compete clause" that he seemed to make up on the spot. Irish Andy Anderson told Interim Commissioner Vest that if Williams didn't think his wrestler was ready to give him a warm up match, right then and there. Vest decided it was a great idea and announced that the first match of the night. He introduced Jason Kross and his opponent fighting out of the Irish Troop: Dynomite.
Jason Kross Def. Dynomite (non-title match)
Kross dominated the match with the new comer Dynomite. It was pretty obvious from the beginning that Dynomite really didn't stand a chance with Kross. At the conclusion of the match, GK Williams demanded that since Irish Andy Anderson picked out an opponent for his wrestler Kross, he gets to do the same for Anderson. Williams picked out The Wizard for later on in the show. Interim Commish Vest accepted it and made it a match.
Huevos De Oro II Def. Jett Bennett (c)
Bennett came out carrying the "Walworth (WI) County Fair Championship" Everybody in attendance figured the match would be for said belt. Lots of great action by both wrestlers. Bennett at times used his size to out muscle and smart Huevos. But in the end Huevos hit his De Honor Flip on Bennett to secure the 3 count. Huevos was announced the winner and new Walworth County Fair champion. As he was in ring celebrating, Bennett pointed out to ring announcer/Interim-Commish that per Walworth County rules and regulations, the championship could only be defended in the County. Huevos celebration was cut short as he had to give the belt back to Bennett. Huevos was still victorious but left Harvard empty handed.
Irish Andy Anderson Def. The Wizard via submission
Another match that did not last long at all. The Wizard tried some moves on Anderson but just didn't have the strength and or knowledge. Anderson mat short work of the Wizard and put him in the Cloverleaf Submission and The Wizard was quick to tap out. At this point, it seemed both men (Anderson & Kross) were ready for their Pro-X championship later in the night.
Intermission
Dinn T. More (w/Jett Bennett at ringside) Def. Texas Pete (c) for the Nebraska State Fair Championship.
Texas Pete came out to the ring announced from Eugene, Oregon carrying the Nebraska State Fair Championship. Unlike the Walworth County championship, the Nebraska title could be defended in Harvard tonight. Interim-Commish Vest stated the match would be one fall and for said championship. In one of the great matches of the night, More and Pete traded jabs back and forth the entire match. At one point, Bennett was outside trying to "help" his friend More right as referee Nicholas H. turned around. Nicholas H, smelling trouble if he didn't do something, banned Bennett from ringside. Setting up a true one on one match. This match was great for both wrestlers and very entertaining for the crowd. Texas Pete showed not only could he wrestle great, but dance too. In the end, Dinn T. More was the more aggressive of the two and came out victorious and was announced as the new Nebraska State Fair Champion.
Jason Kross (c) and Irish Andy Anderson wrestled to a no contest, double count out. Still CLPW Pro-X Champion: Jason Kross.
Anderson came out with his brother Stosh Anderson. Kross was introduced with manager GK Williams. In one of the more memorable matches of the evening, both Anderson and Kross put their skills on the line and "wow'ed" the crowd with every move. It was back and forth action the entire match with Anderson, at times, seeming like he was mostly in control. Just as Kross had taken the match back over, Anderson returned to the top spot. Several great spots by both. Just when it looked like Anderson was setting up his finishing submission move, The Wizard and Dynomite came out to ringside and started teasing the Ring Girls who were holding the Pro-X belt. Both the Wizard and Dynomite
felt they were treated poorly in their early matches, so they thought a nice distraction to both wrestlers was much needed. As Anderson put his attention on the two outside observers, Kross jumped out of the ring to assist Anderson. Both Kross and Anderson put separate beatings on Dynomite and The Wizard. None of the wrestlers, or managers for that matter, were paying attention to ref Nicholas H. who had counted to 10 for the double count out. The bell rang as action outside of the ring continued. Once order was stored, Irish Andy Anderson grabbed the mic and stated that even though he and Kross worked together on the outside against Dynomite and The Wizard, he still wanted a shot at the Pro-X title.
Main Event
In School Suspension, no rules, falls count anywhere match for the NWA Missouri State Championship
8 year Undefeated Champion Johnny Armonni (c) vs. 1/2 of the CLPW Tag Team Champions: The TradeMark.
Armonni was announced first and came out and grabbed the mic from Interim-Commish Vest and once again announced he couldn't wait to get out of Harvard. He made sure that he was not wrestling for free (Benefit) and when he won his match, he would take 10% of all the earnings for the night. He made some more comments about Harvard and the Hornets which did not set well with Vest and or the crowd on hand. The TradeMark was introduced and came out with special guest manager Ellen Brady. TM was wearing a Hornet shirt and was decked out in Black and Gold for his alma mater. The match started out with Armonni getting the upper hand on the TM. The in-ring action only lasted a couple of minutes as both wrestlers ended up on the gym floor looking for anything they could use on each other. The Harvard High School cafeteria was raided obviously before the match as some baking pans were used by both men. Several chair shots were used by Armonni on the TM and vice versa. A table set up with water for the wrestlers (it was hot in that gym!!) ended up having Armonni thrown on it with the water going everywhere.
The action got back into the ring with the TM dominating at this point. Again, more chair shots and some other weapons were used inside the ring. After a couple of slams on Armonni, the TM threw him into the corner. The TM pointed out to the announcers chair where Interim-Commish/Ring announcer Mike Vest was sitting. Vest was a little stunned, but obliged to the TM's calling. It was time for some payback for the Harvard Alum and the Brady family who were verbally abused by Armonni. Vest hit a big splash in the corner on Armonni who was dazed. As Vest was celebrating in the ring, the ref (not Nicholas H.) hit him with a hard and fast clothesline sending Vest to the mat. The ref, who was seen earlier in the night talking with Armonni in the crowd, then kicked Vest out onto the hard gym floor. After the TM realized what had happened, he in return knocked out the ref. TM then turned his attention to Armonni and hit his finishing move, the ARR. With no ref to make the count, the TM called for Nicholas H. in the back to come out to the ring. Nicholas H. slid in and made the 3 count. The TradeMark was announced the winner and the new NWA Missouri State Champion, ending the 8 year run by Johnny Armonni.
After Vest regained his composure, he thanked the crowd on hand and announced the next CLPW event for Saturday October 17th at the Stratford on McGuire Rd. in Harvard. Check www.chicagolandpro.org for more details on that match.
