If you missed the show last night at the Bier Stube, you missed one hell of a ride.
The crowd got warmed up quick in the opener as Jesse Emerson squared off against Aaron Scott. These two were fairly evenly matched throughout going back and forth. Scott manages to get a couple of near falls, but it was Emerson who got the final 1, 2, 3 for the victory. After the match, Aaron Scott definitely showed some frustration at being unable to get the win, but showed good sportsmanship by shaking hands with Jesse Emerson before they both left the ring.
Next match out featured Ryan Drago against "The Kid" Brandon O. This looked like a mismatch as Brandon has a considerably smaller stature than Drago, but "The Kid" was able to use his speed to evade Ryan Drago and get a few quick shots in. It didn't take long for Drago to get angry at Brandon O's quickness, however, and once Drago caught him, it was all over. Following Drago's victory, the crowd was hungry for more, pleading with Ryan to give "The Kid" another hard hit. Drago obliges them, dropping Brandon O on his head. The bloodthirsty crowd still wasn't satisfied, but the monster that is Ryan Drago told them if they wanted more, they could buy another ticket and walked off.
Samuray Del Sol took on Noriega next. The crowd seemed to rally behind Samuray as he encouraged the chants of "Mehico" from those gathered at the Bier Stube. This is a fairly fast paced match up and both competitors give the crowd their all. Noriega tried several times to take Samuray's mask off, with huge encouragement from the crowd, but was unsuccessful. In the end, Samuray came away with the victory over Noriega.
Tim Donst squared off against Tony Kozina and this match was fast paced from the word go. This was another great back and forth match up. Donst gained the upper hand for a while until Kozina was able to come back and get a quick pin attempt. Tim was right back to his feet, however, and took the advantage back from Tony Kozina. Jasin Strife hits the ring from out of nowhere, helping Tim Donst press the advantage and giving Tony Kozina a victory by disqualification. When the beating continued, the Submission Squad it the ring to help Kozina out. Donst and Strife fled quickly with Donst verbally protesting Kozina's DQ victory.
After a brief intermission, PWN set to bring the final 2 matches of the night. The first match was for the Lethal Wrestling Alliance Tag Team Championships. The champions, the Submission Squad came back out to the ring, this time to defend their LWA Titles against The Hooligans. This match is fairly even at the start until the Hooligans manage to divide and conquer. Evan Gelistico is cut off from his partner for a majority of the match as Devin and Mason Cutter successfully cut off the ring and team up on Gelistico behind the ref's back. Donst and Strife return to ringside to watch the proceedings.
Gelistico finally does manage to get a tag to his partner, Pierre Abernathy, who tore through Devin and Mason, but with Gelistico down and out on the apron, Donst and Strife took the opportunity to strike. The took out Evan Gelistico's knee and the numbers game then caught up with Abernathy in the ring, giving The Hooligans the victory and the LwA Tag Team Championships.
The Hooligans are not a part of the Lethal Wrestling Alliance, so the question on everyone's mind now is what is to become of the LwA Tag Team Championships?
The Main Event of the evening brought Combat Zone Wrestling's CZW World Champion, Drake Younger to PWN to face Hunter Matthews with his title on the line. Matthews came out first and grabbed the microphone, talking about how he no longer holds the Quad Cities Championship and felt he deserved this title match. Younger hits the ring and it's hot from the get go.
This match was a wild one. Contested under CZW Rules, there were no count outs, and no disqualifications, anything goes. And that was just the way Younger liked it. Though Matthews was able to get some offense in on Drake Younger, this match was all about the champion. Things quickly left the ring where Younger and Matthews fought on tables, with beer cans and water bottles, and Younger even smashed a trash can on the head of the self-proclaimed "King of Des Moines" head. At one point Younger even broke a beer bottle against the ring post and attempted to cut Hunter with it.
This match went all over the garden outside the Bier Stube, even up the stairs to the balcony above, where both men teetered against the railing several times before making their way back down the stairs. They fought out into the parking lot and onto the truck bed that carried the ring to the Bier Stube, and Matthews went back first onto the metal bed.
They made their way back to the ring and it was all over at that point. Drake Younger got the victory over Hunter Matthews to retain the CZW World Championship. Drake got on the microphone after the match and seemed more than happy to give the fans what they've wanted for a long time, shutting the mouth of Hunter Matthews.
