Pro Wrestling Phoenix: BATTLE OF THE PHOENIX ‘09!
August 22, 2009
Council Bluffs, IA
National Guard Armory
*** Pre-show match: David Clark defeated The Yellow Dog
*** “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt successfully defended the PWP Heavyweight Championship against Donnie Peppercricket, but not without help from fellow Murder Militia members Mark Sterling & Joey Daniels. This would mean that Wyatt will go on to defend his title on September 19th, while Peppercricket would be entered into the Phoenix Challenge later in the evening.
*** “The Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell defeated “The Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade.
*** “Babyface” Tony Cortez defeated Matty Starr.
*** Mike Sydal ended his fued with Stephen Saint, picking up an impressive victory in a No DQ Match.
*** “The Anarchist” Arik Cannon defeated Arya Daivari.
*** The Murder Militia successfully defended the PWP Tag Team Titles against The Northstar Express. The recognized champions were supposed to be Mark Sterling & Brett Young - however, Sterling stated that any combination of the Militia could defend the titles, so on this night it would be Sterling & Joey Daniels. This would have to be considered the match of the night, with The Northstar Express coming VERY close to regaining the titles - however, in the end, the Murder Militia snuck out a cheap win, hooking Ryan Cruz’s tights for the pin.
*** Jaysin Strife won the 2009 Phoenix Challenge, earning a shot a Jeremy Wyatt’s PWP Heavyweight Championship on September 19th.
Order of entry was:
1.) Arik Cannon
2. The Yellow Dog
3.) “The Passion” Zac James
4.) Matty Starr
5.) Arya Daivari
6.) Jaysin Strife
7.) Rebelucha
8.) David Clark
9.) Ryan Slade
10.) Ryan Cruz
11.) Stephen Saint

14.) Mark Sterling
15.) Darin Corbin
16.) Chris Havius
17.) “Babyface” Tony Cortez
18.) Mike Sydal

Strife’s win was a huge step for PWP in fighting back against the Murder Militia, who have dominated the past several events, can Strife follow up on 9/19 by winning the PWP Title?
