From all the people I talked to who attended, they wouldn't be shocked if the conclusion of the Rotten-Walker match alone killed Lincoln as a whole.

Come on Tobi, don't leave everyone hanging. What did you hear happened that "killed Lincoln"?

All I know is this: I didn't go to the show since I moved out of the Lincoln area over a year ago but I still have lots of friends there. As soon as the show was over, my cell phone was blowing up from first hand accounts of friends who went. So, granted this is all second-hand but when multiple people tell you the same thing...
I guess Ian Rotten (who was bleeding buckets from his gashes from the night before) and Mickie Knuckles got into an animated screaming match with some "special needs" fans and their caregiver who took them to the show. Now keep in mind this show was held at the Lincoln Balloon and Arts Festival - about as family-friendly even there is. I guess that scene did not go over very well by many in the crowd and the event organizers.
Plus, my people also told me about Matt Cage throwing his water bottle repeatedly at people in the crowd and that he's lucky he didn't get his a$$ kicked legit. Wrong kind of heat.
The concensus was that the show was so-so at best with the only props going to the Hooligans. Then again, just what I heard ... five or six times from five or six different people.

What happend was this...
Walker, and Ian had a regular match. (No hardcore stips ) Rotten had some cuts from the previous evening that were opened up during the course of the match, due to the headbuts that he kept giving Walker. The issue with the bleeding is understandable, as this was an outdoor festival, and very family friendly.
After the match there was a "verbal incident" between Mickie Knuckles, and the caregiver of a fan in the crowd with "special needs" over some colorful language that was apparently used at ringside. The caregiver was upset with what she heard, and she, and Mickie had a few words.
Security was in place, and noone was harmed physically, as the situation was resolved immediately.
We spoke with the lady in question at length after the occurance, and both she, and the fan left happy with free autographs, and pictures wth both Mississippi Madman, and Curly, who visited with the fans in question for over 30 minutes. They were in agreement that they would return to future PWE shows.
We dont promote, or condone the type of behavior described, and we sincerely feel that we did everything in our power to handle the situation accordingly.
That being said, this has opened our eyes as a company to being more careful as far as booking is concerned.

This is what you, the guy from Lincoln who used to co-promote wrestling events in Lincoln, heard from your friend's about another companies free show, which reportedly drew 500-750 people?

First off, the show did not draw 500-750 people. They were at a festival that had that many people. To give them credit for the "draw" is absurd. Secondly, I don't live in the area anymore and no longer take part in the business so the insinuation of "sour grapes" is even more absurd.

Tobi,
While we are in agreement that PWE is NOT responsible for the "draw" there were MANY MORE than 500-750 who attended the festival on Saturday.
The 500-750 actually watched the show once they arrived and it was offered, and other than a few comments on a message board (from someone who wasn't even there), we havent had any complaints.
This show was advertised all over the newspaper, and in festival publications as a FREE SHOW, and I can guarantee you there were that at least 500 people watching the "wrestling show", so while the show may not have been the reason for the "draw" it was the reason the fans were entertained, and STAYED for the duration.
The show continued on during the balloon flights, and wrapped up just before the balloon glow, and the crowd (of at least 500) STAYED WITH US the entire time.
We NEVER said that we were the "reason for the draw."
Aside from that, you of all people should know that the Balloon Festival, draws more than 500-750 in total. If you add the carnival midway, the wrestling show, and all of the other avenues of FREE entertainment together I think you would come to the conclusion that there were far more than 500 in attendance for the festival.

Because they don't come to message boards (and they're smart for it). As long as you learned something (and it sounds like you did), then we should just drop it and move on. Best of luck on your next show.

The estimate of the crowd size watching the event was a pure guess on my part. The final tally if there was a way to measure it could be very well have been much higher.

LOL! There was only one "empty envelope", and it was an honest mistake.
The person who had the "empty envelope" who will remain nameless was paid, and I dont recall any others.

This statement was NOT a shot at Ian Rotten or Mickie Knuckles, and we apologize for any misconceptions. The intentions of those comments were if anything an attempt to squash the threads negativity, and TRY and focus on the positives.
We apologize if anyone has been given the wrong impression as a result of the above mentioned comments.
