Held at Logan Square Auditorium. I didn't realize the LSA is the same building that also contains the legendary Johnny O's Grill and the popular, but overrated and overpriced Lula Cafe.
I got a seat in the balcony. Some chick w/ a Chicago Outfit shirt asked me where Rocco was. She was a ring girl. I had no clue. No game to impress her, anyway.
Naturally, PBR cans were available for $3. Show started about 8PM. About 150 or so came out. They looked like hipsters in on the joke, but they were pretty into it, even popping for tiny stuff.
Some band played. They were loud. Actually put over ROH. No kidding. This place is loud. Had to cover my ears during most of the music.
Acoustics in the place are lousy. PJ Drummond, Kevin Harvey, and photogirl were all there. Some dude in a Uncle Sam outfit is your ring announcer. Hard to hear.
1) Blue Luchador d. Red Luchador. This was a really, really good opener and the best match on the card. Can't remember the finish. Very, very little botched action. Would not have been out of place on a Dragons Gate show, but not the best thing ever. Wish I knew who they were, so they can get their props.
PBR Express came out for an interview to put down their opponents and put over PBR.
2) Nick Bruebaker d. KGBeast: KGBeast (who had a hood and looked like DSH, or had his gut) was flanked by some manager who put down America and lowlifes in crowd and put down PBR in favor of vodka. Why is that booed? Interrupted by Nick & "Born in the USA" theme. Big USA chant. KG took some breathers outside after Nick dominated in the early going. KG came back with some good shots. KG tried for a sunset flip, but Nick kneeled down, picking up a quick 3. OK.
Somewhere on this show, Sudso the Clown came out. He was the most miserable looking clown ever, dragging some mop and losing his wig.
3) Dinn T. Moore (w/Prazak) d. Justin Dredd in six-pack on pole match: Object was to get the six pack and drink 3 beers to win. Better than you expect, but not that great. Both guys blocked early attempts to get the beers. Some fan actually jumped the ring and got the beer from the top of the pole. Drummond had no idea what to do. That's what happens with no security. They actually improvised pretty well. Both men chugged one beer. Then two. Couple power moves by both men (spinebuster, wheelbarrow into German Suplex). Dredd hit an Ace Crusher on Moore but went down, and Prazak put an empty beer can into his hand, and got the win. What a swerve.
Guinness Goons hit the ring to take out Dredd and Prazak hit the mic to put his boys over for the main event. Crowd not happy. One beer can thrown.
Imperial Battlesnake played after intermission. They wailed loud. Their lead singer did an Ultimate Warrior impression and did some riff on health care shouldn't be going to Mexicans and single-paying. He actually screams in a high pitch more than sings. Also too loud.
4) MsChif d. Melanie Cruise: Melanie is really fine. Chif looks a little thin in the arms. Not too much heat here, but crowd didn't hate on it. Some actual crowd quotes: "Kick her in the cooter." "Stab her in the vagina." Chif used green mist and desecrater for duke.
5) PBR Express d. Goons (w/ Prazak) to win some tag title with no belts: The Irish guys got booed in Chicago. Amazing. PBR chants everywhere. Express came out to AC/DC's "Have a Drink On Me." Basic tag stuff. Smaller Expresser (with streamers on boots) got worked over after missing top rope splash. Even Prazak put his leg on his head to choke while Harvey (wearing Pabst suspenders) was distracted. Hot tag to the bigger Best whose offense on both guys got a huge pop. So did his punch to Prazak's face. Double stone-cold stunners on both Goons for a double pin.
Fans pelted the ring with PBR cans for a celebration. I went down to the floor and the smell of beer was intense. Horrible, too. Sudso got a stunner and a beer bath while the faces celebrated in the ring.
Very unique show, to say the least. Show ended about 11 PM. Was a mix of fun times and disturbing amounts of alcohol consumption on a school/work night.
