Clobberpalooza Classic II Full Results:
Thanks to all the fans who helped pack the Social Club on Friday. It was great to see many new faces at a 3XW event.
Also thanks to many of you for visiting the merchandise tables and taking home 3XW on DVD. We sold out of our available copies of the 4 Year Anniversary Event on Friday, but it will be available in the 3XW Online Store very soon for anyone who wasn't able to purchase a copy on Friday.
For those of you that purchased any of the 2009 events on DVD, we'd love to hear your thoughts about what you like or dislike.
1. Surprise Triple Threat match - Rory Fox, making his 3XW debut, defeated "Delicious" Devin Carter and "Torturous" Tony Sly after pinning Carter, a former three-time 3XW Heavyweight champion, with a flying cross body off the top rope. The long-haired blonde Fox received a very positive reaction from the crowd throughout the match and even celebrated in the crowd after his huge win. Fox is a 10-year veteran of the sport and has spent considerable time wrestling in Texas and Ohio and was featured on MTV's "True Life: I'm a Pro Wrestler." It will be exciting to see what he can accomplish in the 3XW heavyweight division.
2. The Horndogs (Krotch and Maddog McDowell) beat Gage Octane and Mark Sterling of the Gentleman's Club after pinning Sterling following a spectacular double-team Krotch Rocket (Maddog held Sterling while Krotch delivered the move). For the second month in a row, miscommunication between Octane and Sterling led to their demise and Sterling taking the fall. Before the match, 3XW Commissioner Todd Countryman announced that if the Gentlemen's Club didn't win tonight, he would leave 3XW forever! Because of this, the crowd was absolutely thrilled following the Horndogs win! But, it would be all for naught (more on this later)....
3. 3XW Cruiserweight title match - Casanova, with assistance from Todd Countryman, defeated "The Rockstar" Jimmy Rockwell to become the first two-time 3XW Cruiserweight champion. With the win, Casanova remains the longest-reigning Cruiserweight champion in 3XW history at 15 months and ending Rockwell's reign at 14 months. Rockwell appeared on his way to winning and tying Casanova's record when Countryman interfered and crotched Rockwell on the top rope while Casanova distracted the referee. This led to Casanova using the top rope to help deliver a vicious stunner to Rockwell and pick up the win.
After the match, Coutryman announced that Casanova is the newest member of the Gentleman's Club and because a member of his stable won, Countryman DOES NOT have to leave 3XW.
4. 3XW Tag Team titles - The High Flyers ("The Unbreakable" Zach Thompson and Mike Sydal) successfully defended the titles over TNA Wrestling star "The Middle Eastern Nightmare" Sheik Abdul Bashir and his brother Arya Daivari after pinning Daivari following double standing moonsaults by the Flyers. Excellent back-and-forth tag team match which saw the fans thrilled after the High Flyers picked up the huge win over a national star like Bashir, a former X-Division titleholder.
5. Sexy and Smooth ("The Canadian Sex Icon" Ryan Slade and A.J. Smooth) beat "The Right Price" Aaron Masterson and Ricky Kwong after nailing Masterson with their dynamic Fastball Special double team move. The Fastball Special features Slade tossing Smooth off the top rope and Smooth nailing his opponent with a missile-like right hand to the face. This match also saw Sexy and Smooth attempt to debut their Canadian Eiffel Tower move, only for Masterson to counter out of the hold.
Following the match, Kwong appeared to show Masterson some support following the loss, only for Kwong to viciously assault Masterson with a superkick and proceed to stomp him into the mat to the shock of the crowd. As you'll see on "Outside the Ring" when it's released, Kwong explains he's tired of having he's career stall due to his tag team partners and that he's not actually even Hawaiian! Kwong, a native of Laos, is now embracing his Laotion heritage.
6. 3XW Heavyweight title - "The Rebel" Jeremy Wyatt successfully defended the title over former WWE and ECW superstar Al Snow by DQ after Snow hit Wyatt with Head in front of referee Travis Peterson. Snow hit Peterson with Head after the match to the delight of the Social Club crowd. Excellent match which featured both men coming very close to gaining a pinfall and both referees Peterson and Ben getting inadvertantly hit by the combatants.
Overall, it was another fantastic night of action and Clobberpalooza Classic II is a must-buy event when it's available on 3XW DVD!
Be sure to look for the next episode of 3XW "Outside the Ring" in the near future, as well as the upcoming card for Halloween Horror III on October 16.
