Pro Wrestling Blitz held Ring War Saturday November 7th, 2009 at the VFW Cantigny Post 367 in Joliet, IL. The show featured a 4-man tournament to determine a new #1 contender to the King of the Cruiserweights Championship, a Grudge Match between former tag team partners, Jerry Lynn challenging for the King of the Cruiserweights Championship, and a classic 5 on 5 tag
team elimination match.
Match 1 (Opening Round of the Tournament to determine the #1 Contender to the King of the Cruiserweights Championship)
Johnny Motley defeated "Pocket Rocket" Eric Marx in 6:54 to advance to the Final Round with a double arm DDT rolled into a cradle. The standing room only crowd was way into Johnny.
Match 2 (Opening Round of the Tournament to determine the #1 Contender to the King of the Cruiserweights Championship)
"The New Age Rebel" Tristian P.S. Hayes defeated Tommy Motley in 8:32 when Hayes sat down on Tommy during a snap sunset flip attempt and hooked his legs for the 3 count.
Match 3 (Grudge Match)
"Roughneck" Jay Ryan and "Infamous" AM Vishon went to a 20 minute time limit draw. The Joliet crowd was absolutely nuts for their hometown boy Vishon, who tried to wrestle the match while Ryan was more interested in fighting. The former tag team
partners continued to fight after the bell. The crowd was not upset about the time limit draw, but rather applauded their efforts.
Match 4 (Final Round of the Tournament to determine the #1 Contender to the King of the Cruiserweights Championship)
Johnny Motley defeated "The New Age Rebel" Tristian P.S. Hayes at the 6:00 mark. After Johnny hit a top rope moonsault to the outside, but missed his Spinal Tap (top rope front flipping corkscrew back splash), he was able to duck Tristian's super kick and rolled up Hayes in a reverse wheel barrow cradle with a bridge for the pin.
After intermission, Joey Eastman made his Pro Wrestling Blitz debut, announcing through heavy boos and jeers that his clothing designer in New York personally asked him to make his nephew, Ashton Vuitton, a star. This lead into:
Match 5 (Triple Threat Match)
Ashton Vuitton (w/new manager Joey Eastman) defeated Dave Rydell (w/Mia Martinez) and "Waterboy" Mike Horning in a triple
threat match. Eastman made an impact his first night in by receiving a slap in the face from Mia, but later distracted Rydell which allowed Vuitton to dump him over the ropes to the floor. He then blocked a tornado DDT attempt by Waterboy and pinned Horning at the 12:46 mark with a spike slam and jackknife roll up pin.
Match 6 (King of the Cruiserweights Championship Match)
Zack Thompson successfully defended the title against Jerry Lynn in what has to be the biggest win in his young career since winning battle royal to win the King of the Cruiserweights Champinship. The crowd was solidly behind Lynn while Thompson unsuccessfully tried to show up the veteran by busting out moves he hadn't done in a while like a standing moonsault. When Jerry went for his signature cradle pile driver though, Zack clipped the ropes with his foot to block it, then got a roll up using his feet on the ropes for added leverage.
Afterward, Zack took the house mic on the floor and said he doesn't suck (responding the crowd's chants), which earned him
a dropkick from Lynn. Lynn took the mic and said it was great to be in his second home of Chicago. All of a sudden, Steve Corino appeared on the video screen, telling Lynn he told Thompson how to beat him. He said it's Steve Corino vs. Jerry Lynn in January in a good as always announcement. Lynn responded to the live crowd, saying his match with Corino in January may be like the bloody battle they had at the ECW Los Angeles Pay-Per-View.
Match 7 (5 on 5 Tag Team Elimination Match)
Team Scarpone (Captained by "The Insurance Policy" Tony Scarpone with "Canadian Sex Icon" Ryan Slade and American History Next vs. Team HD Ready (Captained by Rasche Brown with The Tokyo Twins, "Latin Lover" Tony Rican and Egotistico Fantastico):
The match started with all 10 men brawling before referee Nicholas H got control. Eliminations went as follows:
"Metalhead" Steve Stone pinned by "HD Ready" Rasche Brown after a spear.
Yu pinned by Ryan Slade after Brandon Blaze's Death Valley Bomb and then Slade's Ry-Plex Mach 3 (fisherman's suplex).
Ryan Slade pinned by Egotistico Fantastico after the Mexicution (reverse piledriver).
Mi pinned by Hardcore Craig with an Emerald Erosion (or Celtic Cross).
Tony Scarpone and Rasche Brown were disqualified after Tony accidentally hit referee Nicholas H. and Rasche then accidentally speared him. Scarpone and Brown brawled to the back so referees Hammy and Mr. Cervates disqualified them.
Shortly thereafter, Joey Eastman and Ashton Vuitton inferferred with Joey tripping Tony Rican on the apron and Ashton hitting
a Code Breaker on Ego. Hardcore Craig followed up the interference with his Hardcore Hangover (spinning TKO) on Ego for
the elimination.
Brandon Blaze pinned by Tony Rican with a lungblower after Rican avoided a Death Valley Bomb and shoved Blaze into Craig to
knock him off the apron.
Shortly thereafter, Hardcore Craig accidently knocked out referee Hammy. This brought out Steve Stone, but the Tokyo Twins
followed and fought him back to the locker room. At the 29:26 mark, Rican countered Craig's Hardcore Hangover and rolled him
up for the pin, although it looked like Craig may have been in the ropes.
The winner and sole survivor: "Latin Lover" Tony Rican!
