The crowd was hot for the return of SLAM! The promotion itself seemed revitalized, with great promo work by many of the performers in pre-taped segments that were aired on the big screens at the Pyramid Club.
1) Acid Jaz beat Mr. 450 Hammett
-Hot opener, great stiff action. Both men are great high flyers. What really added to the match was that some stuff that would normally be considered routine maneuvers in a wrestling match saw both men accentuate these moves by throwing themselves around, kind of like low-level flying. When they'd whip into each other, you could really see the marks on both men.
2)The Stranglers; Diego Corleone & Marco Anthony beat The Boondock Dogs
- The Stranglers are cut in the vein of your classic tag teams straight out of the Golden Age of wrestling, and they didn't disappoint in this match. The Dogs showed a lot of promise and I'm sure we haven't seen the last of them.
3) Marshe Rocket (w/ Dymond) beat Nick Brubaker ( w/ Ryland Fox)
- Match could have gone either way, and possibly could've went the way of Brubaker, with all the aggressive tactics he employed. His and Fox's cheating ways were not enough.
4) Yabo beat Nick Cutler
- This demented clown made his creepy presence felt as he toyed with Cutler, who himself is a prominent fixture among various Midwest Indies. Downright bizarre.
5) " Handsome " Milo Cash (w/ Stan Pain) beat Willie " Da Bomb " Richardson (w/ Dymond & C Red)
- Hard hitting action, as always from these two. They're not strangers to each other, yet every time they wrestle against each other, they always mix it up and pound each others brains in. Dymond was lovely as always (man, those hips, and that mouth is for kissing!) and a humorous spot in the match saw both men distracted as the resident loudmouth, Stan, was trying to pick a fight with Cred. Or was he? Milo is known for being strong, but Willie is no slouch, either, as during one pin attempt, Willie sent Milo flying. Propos go to the young referee, who Milo landed on, but the guy was resilient and shrugged it off. At the end, the women adored the Milo. It seemed like some men did, too, as Cameron Salem just had to make his presence known.
6) SEMI-FINAL MATCH (in determining the top two contenders to battle it out next month with the promotions championship on the line): Prince Mustafa Ali beat " The B-O-Z " Steve Boz to advance.
- These two are always a pleasure to watch and worth the price of admission alone, to paraphrase a famous cliched phrase. The awesome work inside the ring is no cliche, however, and words cannot do it justice. Cameron Salem cost The B-O-Z the match. What will the repercussions be?
7) SEMI-FINAL MATCH (in determining the top two contenders to battle it out next month with the promotions championship on the line): Rudo Cortez (w/ Jimmy Hart) beat Austin Roberts (w/ Ryland Fox)
- Earlier in the show, Roberts was being beligerant towards Cortez in reminding him and everyone of how he beat Tito Santana on July 10th of 2009 at Toyota Park in Bridgeview and was seemingly taunting Rudo, all the while stating his superiority over any " legends " which prompted Chris Sader to bring out Jimmy Hart, who agreed to manage Rudo. The ending saw Jimmy Hart and Rudo pull one out of Eddy Guerrero's playbook, as Hart tossed a chain to Roberts with Cortez feigning injury, prompting thereferee to DQ Roberts. Outsmarted by a legend, he went berzerk. Advancing to the finals is one of the area's best workers who has been generally thought of as a tag team wrestler, but has done very well for himself against Boz and Milo Cash in the past, and did very well for himself against Austin. Rudo Cortez will go against Prince Mustafa Ali in the finals at the next show.
