AAW 3/26 results Barbed Wire Mayhem!

Yeah. The undercard wasn't great, mostly because I was running on fumes.

Prazak filled in for DSH on commentary.

Kreed vs. Wisdom was forgettable.

Either Skye or GQ throw cards during their entrance. don't remember who. One of their opponents was billed from Thiland, but used no clinch work or muay thai. Go fig. Better than the first match.

Bradley won via lariat. That was about it. Feel bad the guy is curtain-jurking.

6-man was OK. Lyndon was the most over guy here, by far. Wagner & MacEntyre came out to Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance," which got a good reaction. I like Facade's look...he's basically a white tagger with dreads or cornrows. He blew a couple of spots. Couple usual dives, with lyndon nearly missing the group. Daniels actually used the f-bomb while piledriving Facade for the win. He then went after Scarlett, the red head who sells the 50/50 tickets after she cut a promo (really) and was mad at Daniels for taking a shot at hollister. He was going to piledriver her, and part of the crowd popped for it.

Mdogg came out, challenged Daniels, won with a quick running SSP. Didn't even go a minute.

Corbin d. Krotch after Nikki provided the distraction. I didn't care much for this. I cared a lot more when MsChif came out and challenged Cruz to prove his manhood. They actually worked well, if you like the sight of a dude beating up a chick. Crowd was really on Nikki about her once having a junk. Seriously, she got way hot since that haircut.

Krotch jumped Cruz when the ref's back was turned, but the it's not like the ref was deaf, too. At least it pushed the feud along. MsChif is over here.

Z-Gravity vs. Hybrids was a standard mid-card tag. Nothing you haven't seen before. The hybrid not named Cain was a mix of solid body mass and Alex Shelley's hair style.

Nothing more to add about Boz vs. Lawrence, although they did spill out onto the floor. That beer shot went on most of the people in front of me. Lawrence's gimmick is that PBR makes him strong. He should play that up more, like Hulk Hogan when he "hulks up." The FBTW stip got pops.

So good to see Eric Priest back. I wish his crowd reaction was better.

Screen promos were good, for the most part.

Silas vs. M-Dogg was a very well-worked match, with the crowd into it. Silas is hated as a heel, and he knows how to project it. I can't speak enough about how good Silas was. I don't think anybody thought MDogg was going to win here, but Dogg got some good near falls. Shoving PJ to crotch Dogg and get the duke was a nice touch at the end, with the crowd hating him more. Silas jawed with a couple fans afterwards.

They did intermission at this point to set up for the main. I seethed with jealously looking at Nikki hanging out with Corbin. What she sees in that Opie-wannabe is beyond me.

I actually said some stupid stuff during intermission:

Me: "PJ (Drummond), can I touch the barb wire?"
PJ: "No."

Me: "Hurry up, Mike (Petkovich), I wanna get home to watch Strikeforce."

Some girl mentioned Tito Santana at this point. Props.

Main event was nuts. Violent, but at least no hard chairshots to the head. Val Malone got powerbombed. Truth got put into the wire, and stiffened up. One twin got backdropped onto a guardrail. One twin got a roll of barbed wire pressed onto his back and forehead. The HOT was crimson-masked to the 9th power here. I had to actually put my arms up when I saw a piece of barbed-wire flying my way. Finish was a twin trying to suplex Raymond off a tall ladder onto a table with tacks. That made no sense because of the roof height, but Able came up another ladder behind them, & hit the twin with a barbed-wire baseball bat in the gut, sending him into the table for the pin. I wouldn't put this above NSE vs. Twins TLC in terms of emotion, but it was a great performance by all four guys. Standing ovation by the crowd.

Twins gave a short speech afterwards thanking everybody for 10 years. Now they're off to do comedy. Beats thumbtacks and hanging out with the NSE every month.

I won't say the DVD is must own, but if you have spare cash sitting around, it won't hurt to see this.

Next show is 4/17, and the lineup is good, but I don't see how AAW is going to top the NRBW match for the rest of 2010.

Just some real quick thoughts on The Phoenix Twins. Those two guys were work horses for AAW for a number of years and were involved in some of the biggest feuds we ever had. They were excellent in the ring and very knowledgeable and humble backstage. It was a real pleasure calling their matches and I know they will do well in whatever it is they choose to do now.

This also opens up a spot at the top of the tag division which I'm sure some of the younger guys are anxious to step up and fill.

I agree. They never had a bad match. They were always entertaining and a focal point of the show. They will be missed. I bet they keep their word and stay out of the ring longer than Shawn Michaels too.
