CLPW Harvard Expo - 3/27/10 Results - Harvard High School
I must apologize, not only for the delay in posting but as I'm not the regular reporter for CLPW, some of the info may seem a little ... choppy!! I was working the show and was unable to watch much of the matches. I was able to piece together information from other sources to give you at least something about each exciting match!
The matches at the Harvard Expo were just that - exhibition matches. There were no title changes, no major upsets, just great wrestling from some of the best Indie wrestlers in the area. This is the 2nd year that CLPW was asked to exhibit at the Expo and we were proud and happy to perform. We were also lucky enough to have a Great Sponsor for this event - Mercy Health Systems - Thanks again to Harvard Chamber of Commerce and Mercy Health Systems.
Even though the wrestling was top-notch, as usual, and the crowd was once again pleased by the performances by the Indie wrestlers with CLPW, there was just as much excitement OUTSIDE the ring during the show as there was inside! I think several members of CLPW took advantage of the fact that there were no titles on the line to do a little checking of the opposition.
During a radio interview with Dave Gardner of Harvard Community Radio AM 1610, Texas Pete and JT Simmons with Miss Bristol were talking about their upcoming match when they were rudely interrupted by Johnny Armonni. Evidentially JT was waiting for Johnny, as they immediately started bashing not only Harvard but our ring announcer, Mike Vest. When questioned about their animosity for Mr. Vest, they commented that Vest was not a worry that day, as he had a little 'accident'.
They insinuated that Vest would NOT be attending the Expo. There was no word from Vest and we were unable to contact him to deny or confirm that, so the interview went on with more Harvard bashing.
Before Mr. Gardner was able to get his microphone back from the chatty JT and Johnny, they were confronted by none other than Harvard High School's Dean of Students! The Dean, during rounds of applause, stood up for Harvard-ites, the town, the cow and the beautiful area, pulled JT Simmons and Johnny Armonni into her office for an in-school suspension due to their disrespectful behavior, but allowed them out in time for the show.
Among other fans and guests that day were some surprises..
* Nathan the Trademark Pepple was at ringside. He didn't wrestle, spoke of upcoming matches and commented on a surprise match at the end of the show, but other than that, he watched the matches with a critical eye. When asked why he didn't wrestle, he responded with a No Comment. He didn't appear to have been hurt, but was seen arguing with the Commissioner at the last CLPW match, so who knows what happened there.
* Nick H appeared in the audience, camouflaged with cap, sunglasses and jean jacket. He didn't interact with any of the wrestlers, other than to promote the April match. He refused to comment on any of the matches and left soon after the show was over.
* Another surprise guest was Kevin the Phoenix Stebbins. He also, was very closed mouthed in regards to his appearance. He is the Women's League Coordinator but there were no women's matches that day. He lurked back stage and kept circling the ring during the show. Could he be widening his horizons, hoping to acquire more than just the women's league? It remains to be seen.
* The Easter Bunny was a special guest as well. He brought several young fans with him and on several occasions was forcibly held from rushing the ring. If anyone was at the last Expo, you may recall there was a small altercation b/w the EB, Trademark and Mike Vest. Evidentially that was not resolved!! Hope Trademark and Vest were careful when they opened their Easter Baskets!
When the show was ready to start and Mike Vest, ring announcer was introduced, Johnny Armonni and JT Simmons took the mic instead. They repeated their story about how Vest would not be appearing, due to an 'accident' , apparently from a baseball bat! We were unable to get confirmation from Mr. Vest regarding this altercation, but he assures us (now) that he is 'fine' and hopes to resolve any issues with JT and Johnny at Clash for Gold on 4/24/10 at the Stratford.
There was a great lineup and the matches were as follows:
Irish Andy Anderson with help from Matt Longtime VS Michael Mac.
This was an exciting match - Irish Andy is always a crowd hater and Matt Longtime was his usual interfering self. Longtime spent a lot of time distracting the Ref. Mac put up a valiant fight, trying to keep the match inside the ring, but Irish Andy was announced the winner - cause: Super Kick. I heard the Mac is disputing the call, but the Commissioner confirmed that since this was not a 'sanctioned' match, the outcome is as announced.
Texas Pete VS JT Simmons assisted by Johnny Armonni.
Though JT carried his belt to the ring, this was NOT a title match, much to Texas Pete's disgust. Pete was able to work the crowd and while JT was distracted by the crowds chants, Pete was able to steal a quick victory over JT as per the Ref. JT tried to take his frustrations out on Texas Pete, but Pete escaped to the locker room while JT and Johnny stormed around the ring.
Matt Longtime vs Jay Kross
Matt was accompanied to the ring by Irish Andy, of course. Even with interference from Irish and many sneaky tricks by Matt, Kross wins via DQ!! Pandemonium broke out!! The locker room streamed out to the ring! Andy, JT & Longtime beat down Kross.
At this point, Trademark made his presence known! He exploded from his chair, grabbed the mic and shouted that he'd had enough! That it was going to end now!! He stated that he was appointed Commisioner for this show (cause of argument at last show?) and he had the authority to end it now! Trademark announced that Irish Andy, Matt Longtime & JT.Simmons were to have a 6 man tag match immediately with Jayson Kross, Texas Pete & Michael Mac. That news brought the crowd to their feet!! This match, in spite of the incredible match up was over relatively quickly! Irish Andy's team spent alot of time beating on Texas Pete. Matt Longtime and JT spent time interferring with the Ref. Eventually everyone ended up in the ring. Longtime hit Irish Andy w/ the Super Kick by mistake and Mac follows it up with a pedigree for the 1, 2, 3!!!
As you can see, it was a pretty exciting day with much to talk about!! We want to Thank Everyone that made it out and hope they had a great time!!
We hope that much of the controversy over the special appearances will be resolved at Clash for Gold on 4/24 at the Stratford Banquet Hall in Harvard. Bell time 7 pm. Hope to see you all there!!!
Please note - We will be having NEW reporters for our matches starting at Clash for Gold on 4/24/10 at the Stratford. The dueling duo that we all know and love(?) of The Poisonous Anchovie and HoweirdHowie! You'll see their commentary on our website: www.chicagolandpro.org . It will be continued for your comments on www.chicagoprowrestling.com.
