WCPW McGuane Park results

They had about 80 people at the show. Show started 18 minutes late with DeCero comeing out to greet the crowd and plug WCPW's history, including the 120-man battle royale and the stacked battle royale. They did have a bunch of technical problems with the sound and lighting early, but they got those storted out. Bobby J was your ref.

V vs. Kurtis was a pretty long opener. They had some rough moments early, but some good moments too. V hit an ace crusher off the ropes and got the win by turning an octupus into a crossface.

Buddy vs. Mizfit was there. Finish was a boot, which lead into what I can best describe as a spinning crucifix into a slam.

Mulligan made a crack about having respect for Psycho as much as Psycho had hair. He also then took a shot at the Cubs, which didn't go as over as you would think in the hood.

Reno was billed from Vegas, which Mulligan pointed out. Evan hit a standing shooting star for 2 and a swan dive over the top to the floor. Reno did the bit where he put Evan on the second rope in the corner, legs spread, and distracted the ref by pointing out a fan in the crowd. While the ref dealt with the fan, Reno kicked Evan in the crotch. Awesome. Reno missed a moonsault, Evan hit a frog splash for 3.

Anthony vs. Blue was a joke. They were having a perfectly OK match when Psycho stopped the match, told them he was tired, and asked both men to prove their championship material by winning the match in one minute. Anthony locked on the Cobra Clutch, but they made the ropes. Blue caught Anthony on the top and hit a superplex, but the bell rang for the draw. Crowd wanted 5 more minutes, Psycho didn't let it happen.

This felt straight out of TNA. I have no idea what this was supposed to accomplish. To make the fans feel for sympathy for the wrestlers? Or to get Psycho over as a heel, which he really didn't need? It just smacks of blatant disrespect to cut a match short like that when nobody was getting booed, and especially to Anthony, who has been around for a long time and deserves better than this. Even Blue, who was signing at intermission, looked a littler perplexed at the whole thing. This really put a damper on the rest of the evening, and I wish I would have stuck around to ask Sam what he was thinking with this idea.

Mulligan vs. McDarby was OK. Mulligan hit a screwy-looking facebuster off the ropes. He hit a TKO for the win. Better than it sounded, but the last match really left a bad taste in my mouth. Mulligan is a good talent.

Battle Royale had Roberts ramming Kurtis by accident and eliminating him, leading to the Blue/Roberts vs. Street Renegades. Renegades are like 3D, in terms of size. They hit a double-team neckbreaker on Roberts to get the three. Match was nothing special, but alright. Blue hit a Roderick Strong-style gutbuster on Roberts, whose heel mannerisms were much more active in this match.

Mannix vs. Thunderfoot was short, and it didn't have that big-match title feel to it. They actually botched an Irish whip. Not kidding. I saw a try for a whip and next thing I saw was Thunderfoot laying on the bottom rope. They recovered fine. Mannix hit a powerbomb for 2. Thunderfoot hit a top rope elbow for 2. Ryte hit thunderfoot with his own weapon, leading to a DVD by Bailey and the three. Would have like to seen this go longer.

Mulligan did OK as ring announcer, but his promos and quips come off as Cena-esque at times. He needs to be careful.

I was tired of seeing Psycho by the end of the show. I blame it on that mid-show angle.
