Scars and Stripes has always been one of AAW's biggest shows of the year. With the sixth installment only a few days away here is a brief history of the first five Scars and Stripes shows. *Note all of these shows are available on DVD in the merchandise section of AAWrestling.com and SmartMarkvideo.com  July 9th 2005. AAW holds the innagural "Scars and Stripes" at the Berwyn Rec Center. AAW Newcomer Eric Priest defeats Scotty Sabre. Jerry Lynn makes a triumphant return. Machine dominates Mark Madison in a barbed wire match. A young tag team by the name of "The Black and the Brave" were in action. Keith Walker and Jay Bradley have an absolute war that puts Walker on the map. In the main event Tony Scarpone and Robert "Ego" Anthony battle in a last man standing match for the AAW championship. With the help of Jim Jesus, Ego becomes the first two time champion.  July 15th, 2006. The 2nd annual "Scars and Stripes" is held. "The Man Beast" Rhyno debuts but is unsuccessful in his bid to win the AAW Heavyweight title against Tyler Black. Silas Young ends his feud with Jason Dukes in a Berwyn Street fight. Bryce Benjamin and Chandler McClure end their feud in a submission match. Marek Brave wins a fatal four way match against Jimmy Jacobs, Trik Davis and the debuting M-Dogg 20 in what many called the 2006 match of the year. The main event saw the returns of Keith Walker and Ego as they took on Danny Daniels and Eric Priest to defend the honor of the company. The night ended with JJ Inc standing over the beaten bodies of their advesaries.  July 14th 2007- "Scars and Stripes '07". Eric Priest continues his win streak by defeating Joey Mercury to retain the Heritage title. Arik Cannon and the Northstar Express get a big win in their debut match. Krotch overcomes the odds and wins a battle royal that earns him a shot at Jerry Lynn's Heavyweight title. The main event sees the JJ Inc team of Tyler Black and Chandler McClure defeat Jayson Reign and Danny Daniels in a wild Berwyn Street Fight. The match features one of the most memorable moments in AAW history as Daniels hits Black with a top rope flipping piledriver through a table.  July 12th 2008- "Scars and Stripes '08". In a war that is still being waged one year later Silas Young and Josh Raymond meet one on one. Arik Cannon continues to climb the ladder in the singles ranks with a win over Christian Able. Dan Lawrence defeats Zach Gowen but is then beaten down and has his hair cut by Truth Martini. In an emotional farewell "The Gold Standard" Eric Priest is defeated by Chandler McClure in his final professional wrestling match. In a match where the losers would recieve ten lashes, The Phoenix Twins are defeated by long time rivals the Northstar Express and their manager Joey Eastman throws more feul on the fire using a contract loophole to force the brothers to whip each other with a strap. In the main event Tyler Black captures the AAW Heavyweight title for a second time defeating Jerry Lynn to a thunderous ovation from the Berwyn crowd.  July 11th 2009- "Scars and Stripes 09". Tag Team wrestling takes center stage as newcomers Faith in Nothing, The Northstar Express, Dan Lawrence/Silas Young, The House of Truth and The Phoenix Twins all pick up big wins. Jay Bradley successfully defends his AAW Heavyweight Title against Tyler Black. The main event is a brutal Stariway to Hell Ladder Match where Arik Cannon outlasts Shane Hollister to retain his AAW Heritage Title. More memorable moments will be made on July 10th at "Scars and Stripes 2010" this Saturday night in Berwyn! |

This Saturday 7/10 AAW returns to Berwyn for the sixth annual Scars and Stripes event. Feuds will be settled and titles on the line on this unpredictable evening. Let's take a closer look at the card. BERWYN STREET FIGHTTHE NORTHSTAR EXPRESS  VS  For months this issue has raged on as Matt "Krotch" Mayday was left high and dry by his sister Nikki as she began dating Darrin Corbin of the Northstar Express. The NSE continued to be a thorn in Krotch's side until he enlisted the help of former SHIMMER champion MsChif. MsChif has proved she can more than hold her own against the males in this feud but now the stakes are raised. After Krotch and MsChif got a measure of revenge last month by costing Corbin and Cruz their shot at the tag titles the AAW office declared the feud would be settled once and for all in a Berwyn Street Fight. AAW has sanctioned a number of these matches in the past but a female has never participated until now. It's come as you are with no holds barred this Saturday night in what promises to be a wild encounter. AAW HERITAGE TITLE VS Ever since capturing his second AAW Heritage Title Arik Cannon and his advisor Dave Prazak have been begging AAW for some real competition. Last month Cannon got just that as he was taken to the limit by MsChif and this Saturday he will receive another tough challenge in the high flying Flip Kendrick. Kendrick has been turning heads on the independent scene for the past couple of years and receives his highest profile singles match to date against "The Anarchist" at Scars and Stripes. It will be Kendrick's death defying attack against the hard striking and power of Cannon with the prestigious Heritage belt up for grabs. #1 CONTENDERS MATCHZERO GRAVITY  VSTHE HOUSE OF TRUTH  Former champions The House of Truth take on the hottest stars on the roster in Zero Gravity with a shot at the AAW Tag Titles on this line. These two teams are no strangers to each other as they met back in April at "Point of No Return" in a controversial match that say Truth Martini save a pinfall against his team by striking referee PJ Drummond and causing a rare DQ. Now these four men go to war once more in a match with big ramifications on the tag team division. Fans of innovative tag team wrestling will not want to miss this one! AAW TAG TEAM CHAMPION TYLER BLACK WILL BE IN THE HOUSE After an attack by the House of Truth and Irish Airborne last month that put his partner Jimmy Jacobs on the shelf with an injury, Tyler Black goes it alone this Saturday night. Black is said to have vengeance on his mind but who will he be looking to take out at Scars and Stripes? TAG TEAM GRUDGE MATCH  VS  Two separate issues collide in this tag team grudge match as Colt Cabana and Chandler McClure have been at each others throats for months. At the same time "Chan Clan" member Knight Wagner has been calling out his uncle, AAW color commentator Derek St. Holmes in hopes of getting him in the ring. St. Holmes had been taking the high road until last month when the Chan Clan attacked St. Holmes' broadcast partner Phil Colvin and he had to make the save. Now the match is on and DSH will be looking to teach his nephew a lesson in tough love. Both St. Holmes and McClure have not seen ring time in AAW for over a year and you have to wonder if ring rust will come into play. Remember if McClure is not victorious Jim Lynam will not renew his AAW contract. No AAW title match set? I would think this big show would have a big feud around that title being blown off here. |
