June 26th 2010 Platinum Wrestling WorldWide will be UNLEASHED on the world for the 4th time marking the 4 year anniversary of Platinum's unrivaled brand of the sport of professional wrestling.
It all started June 1st 2007 in Merrillville,Indiana as at the time named Platinum Pro Wrestling presented the very first installment of "Unleashed" with 400+ fans there to witness the debut of the promotion. This night featured established stars of wrestling from TNA Alex Shelley and the X division Champion Chris Sabin. Sabin successfully defended the X-Division title vs Josh Abercrombie (now Raymond, who at the time was featured on MTV's wrestling program WSX) Also on this night Platinum saw unknown at the time but future World Champion, face of the brand and the man who would take the company to prominence as a worldwide organization "The International Wrestling SuperStar" Erico as he defeated another young man who would help pioneer the promotion and become champion "The Natural" Colin Troy. These two would go on to feud around the USA.
Unleashed 2 was hosted by Duneland Fall's Convention Center a multi million dollar facility that proved to be the perfect venue setting for the biggest show of the year LIVE in Portage,Indiana. The stars were again out for this event as Former WWE Star Zach Gowen took on "Shady" Chris Xion (a young man who would emerge as a cornerstone of the company) Josh Raymond successfully defended his Platinum Championship against a little known young wrestler when First ever Platinum Champion Steve Corino failed to make it to the show. Management saw fit to give a young guy a shot at the championship in Rocky Balboa fashion but Raymond showed why he was champion by dominating the match-up and punishing his opponent with his patented "Taliban Backpack" from the top rope. In the main event the 500+ in the audience saw "The International Wrestling SuperStar" Erico take on Former WWE Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion Greg "The Hammer" Valentine.
Last year Unleashed 3 took place in Michigan City,In at Rag Tops event center and was a homecoming for now Platinum Wrestling WorldWide Champion Erico who had been on a 3 month tour of Australia representing the brand and defending the championship across the Australian continent. The Main Event for the 3rd annual Unleashed was Erico vs former champion Josh Raymond. This at the time was the most highly anticipated match-up in Platinum's history and the fans got everything they expected from these two world class athletes. The end of this great match saw Erico's hand being raised as retained his championship in one of Unleashed greatest matches. The main event for this show was huge but the highlight of this show from the fans perspective was the first ever "5 STAR LADDER MATCH" that included Jimmy Jacobs,Zach Gowen,Doink,Shady and a future Platinum WorldWide Champion making his US debut "Australian Sensation" Craven. Craven earlier in the night earned his way into the match by defeating a man who had never been taken off his feet, let alone come close to being defeated in 3 years Brutus Dylan.
Unleashed 4 for the first time will be hosted by the same city emanating from the Loyal order of the Moose in Michigan City,In. This years biggest show will literally be the biggest ever and could quite easily be the best show in the history of Platinum WorldWide. On June 26th the sell out crowd on hand will see live many of the company's firsts and best.
Unleashed 4 will see the debut of the "Platinum Collection" ladies division as Australian native Sara Jay has issued an open challenge to any women(or man) in order to establish her place being named "The first lady of Platinum" and "Australia's Wrestling Princess" the weight of the world is one her shoulders. Can live up to the hype or will she succumb to the heaps of pressure Platinum has placed on her to succeed?
Also for the first time the Platinum National Championship will be on the line at Unleashed in a match that is another 1st in the company as Champion "Prime Cut" Nick Cutler defends against "Shady" Chris Xion in a "No finishers" match. The rules are simple neither man can use their established finishing maneuvers in the match or they will be disqualified. These two have been at each others throats for months. Both men have been at the forefront of the promotion for years, both being Platinum trained and brand talent. For Shady its a matter of winning the "Big One" finally. He has had more World Title matches then anyone, always being a contender but has always come up short when chasing Platinum gold. For Cutler (the first and only National Champion) its about proving himself and establishing himself as a "TOP" guy within the brand and he has made it known that he is out to impress management, looking to break out and contend for the Platinum WorldWide Championship.
In what will be a triple Main Event scenario Platinum Wrestling WorldWide will finally have an undisputed champion after a year of the championship being split and defended simultaneously in Australia and USA.(for the details on that go to platinumwrestlingworldwide.com)
There will be a four man tournament to crown the 1st Undisputed Platinum WorldWide Champion. Platinum is all about giving the fans what they wanna see and they will get just that on June 26th.
In round one Platinum Champion Erico will defend vs former WWE Intercontinental Champion Marty Jannetty in what Platinum fans around the world consider a "dream match" The comparisons of the two's styles can and have been made many times. Can Erico rise to the occasion and defeat one of the men he idolized growing up or will the veteran pull out the stops to get himself back to the top of the wrestling world and for the first time in his career achieve winning a singles World Championship?
In the other round 1 match the fans will see literally the biggest match in Platinum Wrestling history as 6'6 Brutus Dylan (former Platinum WorldWide Champion) takes on (former Australian National Champion) 6'7 Wayne "The Maniac" Mattei. Both men weighing just south of the 400lb mark. Dylan has been the most dominant wrestler over the last 4 years being defeated only twice in that span and both times by top guys and former world champions. Maniac has been ripping his way through professional wrestling in Australia. Throughout his career he has destroyed and dominated his way to being considered not only one of the best in his country but one of the most dangerous. Since signing with Platinum Australia last year he has been on a one way street that seemingly leads to the championship but in his way are obstacles in the form of Brutus Dylan and if he makes it past that hurdle he then gets the winner of Erico vs Janetty. Both those men are familiar with the main event spotlight, both men have a reputation for defying odds in the face of adversity vs big men, both men have traveled the world and been world champions. If Wayne gets to the finals can his dedication, strength and drive to fulfill his destiny to become World Champion overcome the savvy of either Erico or Jannetty or will it be Brutus Dylan continuing his route to becoming champion again facing off in the main event.
Who will emerge as the very best in the world and become Platinum Wrestling WorldWide's Undisputed Champion?
