PWN World Championship Tournament Match - 1st Round
David Clark vs. Derik Cornell
WINNER: David Clark via Exploder
*Nice opener in Davenport as rising Midwest star David Clark tangles with the brash arrogant Cornell, who's been making a lot of noize in the area as well. I was suprised Cornell didnt try to court former WWE diva Sunny who was in attendance signing autographs. The hot crowd got on Cornell several times for the furry kickpads, but Dave Exploded the Pittsburgh native nearly out of them
The Hybrids (Wesley Storm & Donovan Kane) vs. Markus Crane & Gunner Franks
WINNERS: Markus Crane & Gunner Franks via Roll-Up W/Tights by Franks on Wes
*This was a fun tag match with the good guys in blue taking on the strange tandem of Crane & Franks (3/4 of the participants seeing recent action in IWA Mid South). Donovan was the face in peril here,as the deranged twosome did a good job of cutting the ring in half. Crane seems to gel well with his partners, call it "persuaded by the unstable",if you wheel.
PWN World Championship Tournament Match - 1st Round
Tony Kozina vs. Danny Cannon
WINNER: Tony Kozina via Cross Arm Breaker
*The intense well traveled Kozina looked ready for the up-and-comer Cannon (despite his frustration with the sound guy's choice of music). Tornado dominated most of the match, but from the start it looked like the fiery rookie Cannon was up to the challenge. He even wowed the fans with a nice Rope Flip to Kozina on the ramp. But the vet was one step ahead making Cannon tap (AKA Smiley Kick-Pads before i found out his name). I was impressed with Danny's energy and quickness and predict great things in his future
PWN World Championship Tournament Match - 1st Round
Hunter Matthews vs. Mike Sydal
WINNER: Mike Sydal via Standing Moonsault
*The self proclaimed "King Of Iowa" strutted out to lock up with the recentley well traveled Sydal. One move that suprised me the most was when Hunter wrapped up Sydal in the Tree Of Woe and tied Sydal's leg behind his head then connected with a drop kick. But Mike Sydal's #1 Fan Amanda from Des Moines willfully cheered her favorite on to victory. This match lived up to the hype MWR gave it,and Mike seems to have learned a thing or two from his trips to Ring Of Honor and CHIKARA
Heroes For Hire (Zach Thompson & Jimmy Rockwell) vs. Sexy & Smooth ("Canadian Sex Icon" Ryan Slade & A.J Smooth)
WINNERS: Heroes For Hire via Pump Handle/Neckbreaker Combo
*3XW's standouts in green fair well against the devlish Candian and Iowa powerhouse. Slade has improved greatly over the past 2 years, through his teaming with Zac James in PWP and expierence in MECW. Zach & the Rock Star made short work of the Great White Dorks with a nice double team
PWN World Championship Tournament Match - 1st Round
Main Event Of The Evening
Mark Sterling vs. Davey Richards
WINNER: Mark Sterling via Cloverleaf
*This was the highly anticipated main event as one of the best in the world Richards finally faces off with the best in the area in Sterling. What a hard-hitting technical spectacle this was, with Sterling taunting Davey the whole way. However, the Kansas City Killer felt the wrath of the signature kicks and strikes from Richards that have been felt everywhere from Canada to Europe to Japan. But in the end,Sterling ever the submission specialist locked the Cloverleaf (ironically one of Daveys favorite holds) on the American Wolf forcing him to submit. The fans in attendance were well behind Davey (and those who had never seen him before were impressed),and i wasnt suprised when i heard he was advertised for the next PWN event!
