ro Wrestling Blitz's Malice was held Saturday March 5th, 2011 at the VFW Cantigny Post 367 in Joliet, IL, headlined by a previously unadvertised Dog Collar Match for the Blitz Heavyweight Championship.
Match 1: Sparrow vs. Dysfunction vs. "Dynamic" Dave Rydell in a 3-way elimination match
Before the bell rang, Dysfuction grabbed the mic and said he didn't sign up for a 3-way match and would sit this one out. He grabbed a chair and sat in the aisle way and had ring attendent Niko get him some popcorn. Just shy of the 2-minute mark, Rydell had the debuting Sparrow down when Dys hopped up out of his seat, discarded Rydell to the outside and pinned Sparrow for the elimination. Dynamic Dave retaliated with 2 pescados to the outside on Dysfunction, but back in the ring the Milwaukee native punished Rydell's abdomin with a double foot stomp and a tilt-a-whirl gut buster over the knee. Dave backflipped out of a back suplex attempt and sat out with a head slam, then almost appeared to have his tornado DDT countered with a northern lights suplex, but Rydell was tenacious with it, kicked his legs and spiked Dys, jamming him head first into the mat. Rydell headed to the top rope, but as Dys was getting up, he "slipped" and shoved Ben the Ref into the ropes, forcing Dynamic Dave to lose his balance and crotch himself on the top turnbuckle. Dysfunction hoisted Rydell off the turnbuckle onto his shoulders and hit the Milwaukee's Best Rubix Cube for the pin in 9:11.
Adam Valencia set foot in a Blitz ring for the first time since having his last match last September to interview Egotistico Fantastico. Ego said he was looking forward to winning the Blitz Championship in front of his hometown tonight. Tony Scarpone came out and asked Ego if he could find it in his Mexican heart to let him get the title shot instead, siting their Midwest Mafia past and noting that he came this close to beating Hardcore Craig for the belt last month only to be left whipped and bloodied. Hardcore Craig came out and reminded them he was the champion so they don't call the shots. He said it didn't matter who he wrestled, he would win anyway like he has time and time again. Fantastico said he would give Scarpone tonight's title match on 3 conditions. 1. He gets to wrestle one of the best cruiserweights to come out of Joliet, "Waterboy" Mike Horning, as he's always wanted to try his hand at him. 2. He challenges the winner next month for the belt. And 3. Scarpone and Craig must wrestle in a Dog Collar Match. Tony of course was all for it but the champ was hesitant at first until the "Hardcore" in his name was challenged, so he said the match was on. The Joliet faithful erupted in applause and approval despite the change in the card.
Match 2: Zach Thompson (w/Rinaldo Piven) vs. Hunter Matthews
Thompson came out wearing a yellow dress as stipulated for not winning the Ring Wars match back in November. Piven hobbled to the ring with a crutch and wore a neck brace, still hurting from the Beer City Bruisers' double chokeslams on him last month. Matthews had the ring announcer announce that he forgot to say this was actually an intergender match. Hunter took advantage of Zach's less than traditional ring gear and stayed a step ahead until Rinaldo mustered the strength to hold Matthews's foot when he hit the ropes, allowing Thompson to Pearl Harbor his opponent and toss him to the floor. Matthews bounced back by pulling the dress over Thompson's head and getting an inverted atomic drop, clothesline and northern lights suplex for 2. Thompson hit an enzeguri off the second rope as Mike Horning (the man who made it so Thompson had to wear a dress until he wins a match) sauntered out to ringside, taking pictures of Thompson in his yellow get up. Matthews used the distraction to roll Zach up in a school boy for the win in 8:26. Immediately afterward, Thompson viciously pummeled the victor with rights and lefts.
Match 3: Cyanide vs. Gilbert Lewis (w/Lamar Jefferson)
At first the size mismatch looked like Lewis wouldn't be able to do anything to the monsterous Cyanide, however Gilbert used his speed to avoid stomp after stomp until Cyanide missed a big splash. The Lamda Lamda Lamda representative tried to put Cyanide down with a sleeper, but the big man flattened his smaller opponent by simply falling backward, embedding him into the mat. Cyanide commenced crushing Lewis until he tried to spark a comeback, when Machine made his way into the ring. Cyanide had Lewis up for the Lethal Injection, but dropped him when he noticed the Messiah of the Spinebuster. Machine and Cyanide faced off for the first time since their Casket Match in January as Jefferson cheered on Machine to take Cyanide down. Cyanide handed Machine his old mask, which Machine unexpectedly put on and lifted Lewis up so Cyanide could fall back with him in an over the shoulder DDT. The ref called for the bell at 3:40, calling the match a no contest. Who will be able to stop a force like Machine and Cyanide?
Match 4: "Waterboy" Mike Horning vs. Egotistico Fantastico
The Joliet crowd dueled with chants of "H2O" and "Ego". Crisp mat action was the story of the first few minutes until Horning caught Ego on a charge in the corner with a headscissors, throwing Ego head first into the 2nd turnbuckle. Waterboy hit a spinning heel kick and went for a frankensteiner but ended up being powerbombed hard for 2. A Horning German Suplex attempt was blocked at first, but then he got it shortly after a high kick for a 2-count. Fantastico answered with a Pedro Morales-style back breaker and reverse bulldog face plant for 2. Horning landed on his feet to counter another powerbomb but was forced hard to the floor and Ego followed with a rolling suicide dive. Both wrestlers got in at the count of 9, which received applause as the crowd wasn't ready for this one to end. Waterboy tried to counter a side slam with a tilt-a-whirl headscissors but was stopped dead in his tracks with the Mexicution reverse tombstone piledriver to give Ego the win at the 13:15 mark.
Match 5: Professional Pleasure ("Walking Aphrodisiac" Matty Starr and "Canadian Sex Icon" Ryan Slade)(w/Rinaldo Piven) vs. The Tokeyo Twins (Mi and Yu)
Piven took the mic before the match to remind the crowd about the Beer City Bruisers' attack on him last month and that he didn't appreciate their "One More Time" chant for another double chokeslam. Professional Pleasure did a good job of keeping Mi in their corner for a long duration of the match. Starr knocked Yu off the apron moments before Mi had an opportunity to make a tag. With no partner to tag, Mi took an enzeguri from Starr to set up a double back suplex, only Mi was able to counter that with a double bulldog and make the tag. Yu came in knocking around Starr and Slade, then got a 1-count on the Walking Aphrodesiac with a spike slam when Slade broke it up. Professional Pleasure set up Mi for the G-Spot, but Yu cracked their skulls together with a double noggin knocker. The Tokeyos hit the Rocket Launcher on Matty but Ryan had the ref distracted. Yu took a swing at the Canadian Sex Icon but he ducked so the taller twin clocked the ref instead. Rinaldo, almost too easily given his injuries, got in the ring as Yu dumped Slade to the outside. Yu grabbed Piven's crutch, charged to hit Starr, who also ducked so Mi took the blow to the side of the face. Slade got back in and tackled Yu as the ref came to. Starr made the cover on Mi with the exclamation point of putting his feet on the ropes for the win. Piven rode the crutch like a hobby horse to the back, showing he was faking at least his leg injury all along. Back in the ring, Yu was upset and slapped Mi three times on the chest asking what he thought he was doing before slapping him HARD across the face. Mi cocked his fist and charged, but he couldn't bring himself to strike his twin brother. Mi left in a huff as Yu peered out into the crowd to get their reaction of what just happened. Yu grabbed the Japanese flag he and his brother bring to the ring to them. The crowd wanted him to break it, but instead he left it in the middle of the ring and returned to the locker room.
Match 6: "Messiah of the Spinebuster" Machine (w/Cyanide) vs. Brandon Blaze
Blaze, a big guy in his own right, suffered a devistational amount of damage in the opening moments of the match with knee lifts and overhand clubs from Machine. Machine looked to somehow be even meaner and more aggressive that he had been in quite some time. Although Blaze is no stranger to wrestling in singles matches, not being able to tag out to Beer City Bruiser partner Matt Winchester seemed to take him out of his element. Brandon went for a sunset flip, but Machine grabbed him by the head, picked him up, blasted him in the face with a couple fists and nearly got the win with a hanging tree slam. The Beer City Bruiser showed serious tenacity when he dodged a Vader Bomb, went for his Death Valley Driver, but his back had taken such a beating that he had to settle for a Samoan Drop when he couldn't get the bigger man over. Machine was back to his feet shortly after the landing, however, and hit the Spinebuster for the pinfall. Cyanide watched most of the match near the curtain and seemed pleased with Machine's performance.
Match 7: "Simply Amazing" Justin Dredd vs. "Latin Lover" Tony Rican for the Blitz No Limits Championship
The pace was set early on when both challenger and champion got 2-counts with standing moonsaults. The fast pace was put to a sudden hault though when both men were thinking cross body block and their rib cages collided in mid-air. Rican went for his lungblower but Dredd held onto the ropes to avoid it. Justin pulled the same move from the Latin Lover's playbook when Rican charged the corner and Dredd leapt over him and pulled him back in his own lungblower on the way down in one motion for a close 2-count. The crowd was impressed and chanted "That Was Awesome" for the move. Rican came back by going under an Irish Whip to hit an inverted DDT, then went to the top rope but missed what would have been a graceful phoenix splash. This gave the Simply Amazing one the chance for his Ace Crusher, which he hit but only got 2 when Ben the Ref noticed Rican's hand under the bottom rope. It should be noted that the champ didn't put his hand under the rope to stop the pin count; it just happened to be there after the move and the ref didn't notice it until just before counting to 3. Dredd went for another Ace Crusher but Tony reversed it with a backslide to retain the No Limits Championship. Justin got the mic and told Rican that he almost had him and he thinks if they wrestled again, he would win. He then proposed a best of 5 series with Rican. Tony said if they're going to do best of 5, they might as well do best of 7 to truly prove who the better man is. The first match of the best of 7 series will take place next month at High Stakes.
Main Event: "The Insurance Policy" Tony Scarpone vs. Hardcore Craig in a Steel Chain Dog Collar Match for the Blitz Heavyweight Championship
Shockingly, it didn't take long for the ref to get both combatants fastened into their collars. They faced off in a tug-o-war until Scarpone let go on purpose, causing Craig to take a spill to the outside so Tony could drag him back into the ring by the collar. The challenger then clotheslined Craig over the top rope but the champ consciously pulled the chain during his fall, forcing Scarpone to take a trip over the top rope and land hard on the apron before crumbling to the floor. From there, there was only one logical place to go -- through the crowd. Scarpone whipped Hardcore across the back with a section of the chain, then threw the American History Next leader head first into a chair. The Insurance Policy threw Craig into the guardrail on their way back into the ring. Craig begged off and pleaded to Scarpone that they didn't have to do this. Scarpone looked like he was actually going to extend his hand when Craig went for a big boot. Tony expected that, ducked the kick and hit a lariat for 2. Every slam these two did caused their opponent to fall on the chain. Whether he meant to or not, when Tony leg dropped Craig, a section of linked steel got sandwiched in between Scarpone's 260-lb frame and Craig's throat. Obliging to Joliet's "Use The Chain" chant, the challenger whipped the champion again and again, but then missed a charge in the corner and went shoulder first into the post. Craig threw him into the post again, this time causing Scarpone to fall to the outside. Craig followed and used the chain to pull Scarpone head first into the post, busting Tony open for the second month in a row. Craig opened the cut a little more by wrapping some chain around his fist and blasting Scarpone in the forehead, then raking some links across the laceration as well. Craig grabbed a chair from ringside, wrapped some chain around Scarpone's neck and hit a Russian Leg Sweep over the lip of the chair for 2. Craig went to the top rope but when he looked down, he saw the Insurance Policy giving him the double fingered salute before being pulled and flipped onto the steel chair for 2. Scarpone hit a drop toe hold on the now unfolded chair, then hit a head slam, one of which busted Hardcore open big time. The chair now dented, Tony wedged it between the top and second turnbuckle, which Craig went sailing head first into. Scarpone got a back suplex, but got wrapped up and landed on the chain on his way down. Before the ref could count both men down, Scarpone got an arm over for a 2-count. Tony went up to the second rope, but Craig came charging and swung the chain like a baseball bat across Scarpone's arm, then hit the Hardcore Hangover on some chain for a 2-count where everyone in the building thought it would've been 3. Craig nailed Scarpone across the back with the chair, then hit a second Hardcore Hangover, this time on the steel chair. Unlike the previous Hangover, Craig was able to quickly go for the pin and he got it to retain the Blitz Heavyweight Championship yet again. The ref raised Craig's hand only to be thanked with a lariat out of his boots. Hardcore proceeded to choke Scarpone with the collar as Egotistico Fantastico, similar to last month, made the save, this time brandishing a 2 X 4. The champ, with his entire head caked in crimson once again left triumphantly.
