Fans, Pro Wrestling Phoenix delivered another phenomenal event to our 3rd largest crowd in our 6 year history! It was truly an epic night! Here is what went down.
The night started off when Matty Star and Preston Maxwell unexpectedly came out brawling to the ring! They had to be separated by some of the other wrestlers and kept in separate locker rooms throughout the evening! Preston Maxwell said that no matter what, he is the PWP Heavyweight Champion and he intends to keep it that way.
Sir Bradley Charles defeated “Sensational” Sean Cruz with “The Long Kiss Good Knight”. This was a very close contest, both men getting quite a few near falls. While both men looked very impressive, SBC was able to nail his finishing maneuver after Cruz missed a high cross body, and stay undefeated in Pro Wrestling Phoenix.
Darren “Thunder” Russell came out for a match, but was attacked during his entrance by Branden Juarez! Juarez threw Russell into the ring and laid him out with a vicious MDK! He then got on the microphone and starting talking trash about Chris Havius, who he will be wrestling in the main event No Rope Barbed Wire match. All the while he was standing on Darren Russell’s neck, choking him. Former PWP Heavyweight Champion Vic Victory who is a known friend of both Chris Havius and Russell, finally stood up and told Juarez that he had done enough and to get to the back to prepare for his match. Juarez laughed at Victory and asked him what he is going to do about it? He called Victory a joke and a fluke champion, then picked Russell up for another brutal MDK! He then antagonized Vic Victory with more insults and told him to stay out of his business. Juarez picked Russell up again and this time Victory had seen enough and entered the ring to stop Juarez. He pulled Russell off of him and laid into him with a series of punches much to the fans delight! He was shoved off however and Juarez laid him out with a huge lariat. Chris Havius then ran out with a chair wrapped in barbed wire and Juarez bailed. Havius made it clear that he ends things with Juarez tonight in the main event!
“Unbreakable” Zach Thompson & Joey Daniels defeated “Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell & Mad Dog McDowell. Thompson & Daniels had their first outing as a tag team, while Rockwell & McDowell have seen action before. Both teams impressed the crowd, although the disdain for Thompson & Daniels is clear in the live audience. A miscommunication caused McDowell to accidentally knock Rockwell off the top rope, who was then quickly rolled up by Zach Thompson for the win. Thompson & Daniels celebrated as Rockwell & McDowell argued over what happened in the ring. Everything seemed ok until Jimmy Rockwell shockingly kicked Mad Dog McDowell in his family jewels, turning his back on him and the PWP fans! He then explained to the crowd that he will only surround himself with winners from now on.
“The Big Hurt” Abu Colossus defeated Shawn Nautilus with his Choke Bomb finisher. Nautilus laid out the challenge last month to prove himself to the PWP fans and officials. The crowd didn’t seem to realize that Nautilus is actually TALLER than Colossus until they were face to face in the ring! Nautilus was able to execute maneuvers on Colossus that most men aren’t able to pull off, including a HUGE spinebuster and even bigger powerslam! Colossus pulled some new moves out of the bag as well, and in the end, was able to earn the victory. However, Nautilus would not shake Abu’s hand after the match.
“The Passion” Zac James & “The Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade w/ Axel Greece retained the PWP Tag Team Championship by defeating The Beautiful Bodies, Brian Gott & Derek Cornell. Before the match started, The Bodies brought out their “secret weapon” to counteract Axel Greece, their new manager, Angelus Layne! This was a very hard fought match up, with all four men pulling out new and impressive maneuvers. Zac James tried to use the flag again but Angelus Layne was able to stop him, however, with the referee distracted, Ryan Slade was able to smash Derek Cornell with the Championship belt, and they hit the Sliced Bread w/ a Splash of Slade to retain their titles.
“Babyface” Tony Cortez defeated David Clark. After Jaysin Strife turned hisback on Tony Cortez last month, and David Clark decided to follow suit, Cortez was looking for payback. Unfortunately for him, Strife was in California and unable to attend this PWP event. He trusted his new accomplice David Clark to do his dirty work for him, and the young Clark showed a side of himself the fans hadn’t seen before. He was able to keep one up on Cortez for most of the match. However, Cortez was able to come back and with the roar of the crowd pumping him up, he hit his Pacifier maneuver for the 3 count and the win. Afterwards, he accused Strife of ducking him and said he would beat him any place, any time.
Matty Star defeated Preston Maxwell via disqualification, therefore Preston Maxwell retains the PWP Heavyweight Championship. Matty Star was determined to get revenge on the brutal attack from Maxwell two months earlier causing him a concussion, bruised trachea and missing a month of action. The two men went back and forth, showing the crowd what they are made of. Matty Star hit a huge moonsault for a near fall however Preston was able to barely kick out. After a huge suplex by Maxwell only got him a 2 count, he attacked the referee. He then hit another bridging suplex on Matty as a second referee came out to relieve the injured one. However Matty kicked out again much to the fans delight! Preston was furious and attacked that referee as well! Matty Star then was able to hit the Falcon Arrow maneuver that he uses and as the referee crawled towards them, he signaled for the bell and declared Matty the winner via DQ. Star was absolutely livid, as he knew he didn’t win the title. A satisfied looking Maxwell left the ring, and Matty got on the mic demanding a rematch.
Branden Juarez defeated Chris Havius in a No Rope Barbed Wire match. As intermission began and the wire was being put up, you could feel the electricity in the air among the fans. Juarez came out first to a chorus of boos, although he did have his supporters as well. Then came Havius, a long time favorite of the PWP fans, to a resounding ovation. It’s pretty hard to describe what happened here, but you can imagine. Both men ended up a bloody mess and the action went all over the armory. Both men blasted each other in the head with guitar controllers, and Havius broke one in half over Juarez. Chairs, ladders, and thumbtacks were all brought into play, and when Havius kicked out of an MDK into the tacks, Juarez couldn’t believe it. He climbed a ladder to unleash more devastation, when the man he insulted earlier, Vic Victory, came into the ring and pushed him off into the wire! He then delivered a HUGE enziguri to the head of Juarez and helped Havius up! They brought a table wrapped in barbed wire into the ring, and set it up. Chris Havius took Juarez to the top of the ladder to throw him off, however Juarez launched Havius over, through the table, and pinned him to win the match and end their vicious feud. The crowd was shocked but there was a feeling that Juarez had just proven himself to be a serious force in PWP by defeating Havius at his own game. Juarez left the arena as Havius was tended to in the ring.
Fans, the next PWP Live Event is April 30th and that is leading straight into our 6th Year Anniversary Spectacular on May 28th. Details will be announced very soon regarding these events, and PWP officials are very excited to let the fans know what they can expect!
Thanks so much to all the fans who made the night an amazing event for the entire PWP staff and Roster!
