Frontier Championship Wrestling (FCW) staged its biggest event of the year in WrestleRock 3 at the Rock Hollow Conservation Grounds in Freeport, IL. The show was last Saturday afternoon (July 9th). The weather was nice as the show was scheduled to be outdoors. The humidity wasn't too bad and the bugs didn't bite much until late in the evening. The wonderful Cookie Lady also made an appearance. Always great to see her.
It turned into a family event as lawn chairs surrounded the ringside area. Beer was flowing and the BBQ beef special was a hit. I had the 2 corn dogs w/ FF for $5 and it was very good. A two hour meet-n-greet took place before the 5pm bell time. The guest host was former Chicago Bears legend Steve "Mongo" McMichael, former WWE star Rosey, ECW star Tracy Smothers, WWE Tough Enough contestant Ryan Howe, FCW champion Stumpy and the entire FCW roster was there to greet the fans. FCW owner the honorable Richard Bonjour was also on hand to welcome his guests.
WrestleRock 3 kicked off with ring announcer Sean David introducing the Freeport crowd to Mr. McMichael. The #1 contender to the FCW title in Capt. Jack interrupted the football veteran by approaching ringside with two hot brunettes. Capt. Jack called the historic '85 Bears defense over-rated and mocked McMichael. Mongo threatened with a right hook but the challenger hid behind one of the beautiful ladies.
1. Judge Jesse vs Alan Flawlezz
The usual crowd pop erupted for the "Flawlezz" one since he is the hometown hero. The match started off quick and the judge was sent flying over the top rope. His honor would later hit Alan with an impressive off-the-top-rope-leg drop. Flawlezz nailed a frog splash that spelled defeat but Jesse still had fight left in him. A Carlito type backstabber would eventually score the pinfall for the Freeport native.
Winner: Alan Flawlezz
2. Joey Rose & "The Love Machine" Matt LongTime vs Jack Carpenter & Chad Falcon (Corp. Works)
A lot of fast tags and quick action took place throughout the bout. Chad would hit his "Soaring Falcon" top-rope splash to put away Joey Rose.
Winners: Corp. Works
3. Jimmy Fletcher vs Eddie J. Brody
This was more than the classic tale of David vs Goliath. The 400 pounder Fletcher from Louisville, KY was too much for the very tiny Brody. A classic squash match. Fletcher's mentor Peter B. Beautiful announced him as his life partner and protege. Fletcher easily dominated and scored a "W" with a version of the Million Dollar Dream.
Winner: Jimmy Fletcher
4. Ryan Howe vs American Kickboxer II
This was one of the better matches of the night. Howe was playing off his Tough Enough fame and disrespecting the Freeport crowd. "Mongo" McMichael lead a "Skid Marks" chant. After many near defeats by both men, Ryan would score a victory using a full-nelson type slam. The Tough Enough contestant showed much ring improvement since his last outing in Freeport back in March.
Winner: Ryan Howe.
5. Four Corner Tag Team Elimination Match to Crown the First Ever FCW Tag Team Champions
Honor & Justice (Justice Jones & Pauli Thomasilli) vs The New F.B.I. (Tracy Smothers & Romeo Valentino) vs The Athletic Dept. (Coach Havens & "The DodgeBall Superstar" Tyler Priegel) vs The Super Heroes (Rosey & Dan the Man)
-The F.B.I. was the first team eliminated when two boxes of Little Caesar's Pizza was sent to ringside for the F.B.I. by the Athletic Dept. Smothers & Valentino took the pizza over to the beer garden and took themselves out of the match.
-Dan the Man was pinned by Honor & Justice to eliminate the Super Heroes.
-The Athletic Dept. went in defeat to Honor & Justice.
Winners: The New FCW Tag Team Champions Honor & Justice
6. Mickie Knuckles vs Jessie Belle Smothers in a Falls Count Anywhere Match
Jessie Belle (Tracy's daughter) took it to the veteran Knuckles. This fight went everywhere from the sand of the volleyball court to the stands where the spectators were cheering. Jessie Belle gave a much better showing this time around but fell short to the tough Mickie Knuckles. A thunderous slam put the popular newcomer away.
Winner: Mickie Knuckles
* Words were exchanged after the match between Knuckles and ring announcer Sean David. The biggest pop of the night went to Knuckles for decking Sean with a clothesline and slapping his face while he was down and out.
*Capt. Jack brought one of his pretty brunette valets to announce the next match.
7. "The Hardcore Homosexual" Peter B. Beautiful vs Madman Pondo.
This was a bloody hardcore fan's dream type match. Forks, bat wrapped in barb-wire & a stop sign were all used. Both men were caked in crimson red.
Winner: Peter B. Beautiful
* Peter thanked Pondo for the match. That was one of the last things that he wanted to do in his career. Peter also announced that next year at WrestleRock 4 he will retire.
*Sean David returned as ring announcer.
8. The FCW US Champion TW3 vs Bucky Collins in a Ladder Match
Winner: Once again these two pulled off match of the night. By far the greatest rivalry in FCW history. Multiple ladders came into play. Bucky finally got his hands on the gold.
Winner: The New FCW US Champion Bucky Collins
9. FCW Champion Stumpy vs Capt. Jack in a Steel Cage
Only match of the evening that took place under nightfall. The construction of the steel cage took some time. "Mongo" McMichael sat at ringside with the fans. Sean David was once again taken out by a Capt. Jack boot to the groin. A bloody Stumpy had control of the match until the guest host McMichael rammed the door into the champion's skull. The double cross was on. McMichael assisted in pulling Capt. Jack out of the cage.
Winner: The New FCW Champion Capt. Jack
It was a very long evening of wrestling but very enjoyable. The crowd got more then their moneys worth of action. FCW will be hosting some shows down in Southern IL as well as a return to Freeport on Saturday, September 24. On Sept. 24th, a women's tournament will be held to crown the first ever FCW champion. Please check the upcoming show section in the upcoming weeks on CPW for more information.

Hats off to Mr. Bonjour and the entire FCW roster & staff for making WrestleRock 3 a great event that the Freeport area will long remember.
