NAPW (North American Pro Wrestling) ignited the quiet town of Compton, IL last night (September 17th). H.B. Farms was the setting for an entertaining evening of NAPW action. Fans were able to munch before the show to juicy burgers and wieners off the grill for only a buck each. Beer was flowing at the bar. It was a different atmosphere from the usual high school gym or rec center. NAPW is a growing company that provides fun, exciting shows for a low price. Tickets were $10 for adults and $6 for children.
1. Joey Brittain vs Pauly Thomaselli
NAPW rookie Joey Brittain made his debut last night in Compton facing respected veteran Pauly Thomaselli. Sporting a Misfits T-shirt, the rookie made a costly mistake early on by trading punches with his powerful opponent. Pauly gave Brittain opportunities to deliver blows but nothing fazed him. A thunderous blow by Thomaselli floored the youngster. The rookie took advantage and delivered a low blow while Thomaselli jaw-jacked with the referee. The veteran would bounce back to deliver a 450 splash off the ropes to seal the victory.
Winner: Pauly Thomaselli
2. Cameron Jacobs vs Barry Ryte
The popular Ryte stood in the ring passing the time as his opponent Jacobs used common stall tactics. Argued with fans at ringside or going for an evening stroll. Jacobs entered the ring to be greeted with a series of lightning quick arm drags. The match was impressive once it got going. Ryte made the cardinal mistake of getting caught trying to mound the ropes. Ryte would feel the impact of an F5 delivered by Jacobs.
Winner: Cameron Jacobs
3. Jay Kross vs Anthony Antonelli
Jay Kross was escorted to ringside by his partner Texas Pete. The duo have had issues as of late. Pete was at ringside acting as a manager. Jay Kross dominates early on using his brute strength. Antonelli gets nailed with a hard clothesline. Antonelli bounces back with a series of dropkicks. A discouraged Pete enters the ring to bark orders for Kross to climb the ropes. An Antonelli dropkick sends Pete into his partner causing Kross to lose hopes of having children for the next week. Antonelli scores the decision.
Winner: Anthony Antonelli
**** After the bout, Texas Pete would show his displeasure about Kross's defeat. Pete says he could have won in 5 seconds. Kross tells Pete to challenge Antonelli.
4. Texas Pete vs Anthony Antonelli
Texas Pete dominates the majority of this match. Antonelli gets nailed with a series of moves including a flying dropkick and a fist off the ropes. The cocky Pete makes the error in judgment to argue with Jay Kross at ringside. Antonelli scores win #2 with a body press off the ropes.
Winner: Anthony Antonelli
***** Jay Kross leaves after power-bombing Texas Pete.
5. Maestro of Mayhem vs Gabe Gotti
This was a short match but very physical, quick paced action. An even contest throughout the bout. I enjoyed the match but having both grapplers being unknown to the Compton fans must have played a factor for the crowd to not show much emotion. Gotti was put away with a slam off the top rope.
Winner: Maestro of Mayhem.

6. Joey Rose vs Jack Carpenter
Rose sprinted to the ring like a house on fire to begin their grudge match. Rose goes on the offense until he gets caught in the corner with flying knees to the chest. Carpenter controlled a solid portion of the match. Joey bounces back with a scissors kick that would make Booker T smile. An angry, frustrated Carpenter reached for his hammer and hard hat only to have the referee confiscate them. Joey saw the opening to roll-up Carpenter for the three count.
Winner: Joey Rose
******Carpenter nailed Rose with his hammer after the match. As Rose laid unconscious, Carpenter issued a challenge for a return bout on October 22nd. A First Blood Match.
7. The Beast vs Michael Mack
The theme to the classic horror film "Halloween" echoed HB Farms as the Beast made his entrance. He was the spitting image of Abdullah the Butcher. Even had a fork in his boot as a foreign object. There was a lot of pushing between the two big men. Fans were yelling at ringside for the referee to "check his titties" as the Beast hid the fork under his left breast. Michael Mack would slay the Beast with a monstrous spear.
Winner: Michael Mack
8. Main Event: "The Strangler" Diego Corleone vs "The Compton Kid" Alex Bernadino
Another classic tale of the seasoned, crafty veteran (Corleone) taking on the young, energetic youngster (Bernadino). The winner challenges ECW Legend Steve Corino on October 22nd. This match twice saw action spill on the floor and throughout the venue. "The Strangler" was punished when he got decked with a bag of chips and a cardboard box. "The Compton Kid" was caught back in the ring with a loud series of chops to the chest. The referee was taken out of the contest when he was sandwiched by the two opponents. A second referee came as the wrestlers fought over Corleone's bull rope. The sneaky veteran saw his opening to deliver a kick to the groin to seal the "Compton Kid's" fate.
Winner: "The Strangler" Diego Corleone
