Chicago Style Wrestling - Season's Beatings!
Guerin Prep
River Grove, IL
Thanks to ALL the Chicago Style fans who showed up at the latest installment of CSW action on the North Side of Chicago!
Our first match saw the mysterious Sonnella accompany her charge, Matu, to the ring and they informed the ring announcer of the news that the New Age Samoan had won an 16 man MMA tournament overseas and was now to be referred to as... the Great Matu! He then proceeded to withstand the unrelenting offense of a true superstar in the making, Matt Knicks, before finally scoring the pinfall.
Matu beat Matt Knicks.
Since that was considered the pre-show match, our opening contest saw the man who is the pride of the U.S. Marine Corps the " Devil Dog " Carlos Rivera, get a rematch from the last show against the wily veteran, Scott Spade. At the last show, Rivera did very well against Spade but it seemed that every time he would have the upper hand in the match, Spade would use his masterful ring psychology in turning the tide. This was especially true in this match and it seemed that Rivera would once again fall prey to the man's piledriver, but to everyone's surprise he was able to thwart Spade's devastating offense and score what has to be his biggest career win to date!
Carlos Rivera beat Scott Spade.
We then had the Commissioner of CSW, C-Red come out with the winner of last months first ever Taste Of Gold Match, Marshe Rocket. Keep in mind that this win gives him a redeemable contract that he can submit to any CSW official at the time of his choosing and instantly obtain a legally sanctioned title match at that moment. Marshe Rocket was basking in the glory of having won and was very cognizant of being one of the best wrestlers in the world. The two men had another plan though, and it was to bring out the latest star to go Chicago Style, none other than Barry Ryte! This is a real tough hombre in that he is still wrestling after a hard battle in fighting - and DEFEATING - cancer! They brought him out to acknowledge his toughness and all that he had accomplished and Ryte spoke to the crowd, informing them of his ordeal, what he felt, and what his goals in CSW were... when all of a sudden, the Cambridge Brothers came out with cigarettes in their mouths and wearing wigs on their heads, mocking the ordeal of cancer patients and the tribulation that Barry Ryte went through. One of the commentators, The Articulator, Steve Kenton, astutely pointed out that theyneeded those wigs after the haircuts they both received thanks to Brutus Beefcake at the previous show. The Cambridge Brothers appeared to be instigating some form of physical altercation, and Marshe Rocket, C-Red, and Barry Ryte were aware of this and getting themselves into a fighting stance when to the crowd's surprise, good ol' " Boom Boom " came out! That's right, he was in the back greeting friends and fans but overhearing what was going on in the ring was too much for him to handle and Colt Cabana darted to the ring to give the Cambridge boys a piece of his mind. Never let it be said that a disciple of Danny Dominion or Ace Steel wasn't ready for a fight, when he volunteered to team up with Barry against the two disgusting jerks and beat some respect into them. C-Red, being the commissioner, sanctioned the match for later in the show.
The next match saw a man on a roll, as having retired his tag team partner due to a stipulation in his match against former tag partner, T.J. Steel and ending their vicious feud, Remy Raines squared off against Diego Corleone. Corleone had better nights, as he took much punishment from the man who used to practically live over at 26th and California, before finally succumbing to Raines.
Remy Raines beat Diego Corleone.
After getting themselves ready and primed, Barry Ryte and national star Colt Cabana came out to face the visibly shaken Cambridge Brothers. Since debuting as a team, the two brothers have done very well stylistically in the ring and work well together, as is usually the case when brothers comprise a tag team. On this night they were totally thrown off, as their offense, even though it was strong, it was not enough to overcome the onslaught of both Ryte and Cabana. One aspect that needs to be touched upon and that some wrestling experts had noticed is that the colorful nature of Cabana's charisma plays a pivotal role in his opponents being thrown off of their game plan against this man, who in turn has amazing raw strength that is never expounded upon in the wrestling media. It was Cabana's strength that was a key in this match as well as the resiliency of Barry Ryte, whose endurance kept him from losing at different intervals during the match before the end. The end came when the brothers were able to maneuver quickly at a certain juncture of the match where Cabana and Ryte were a slightly off, as they'd never teamed before, and Barry Ryte was pinned. After the match, Colt Cabana, who always has a way of getting certain people who've been through tough times to realize their inner strength, and this time was yet another one of those times. He set the record straight that this was just one night in the life of Ryte and that what he has done thus far in his life indicates that he will go on to achieve great success in CSW and to not dwell on the result of this one night's match.
Steve & Collin Cambridge beat Barry Ryte & Colt Cabana.
The next encounter saw a man so full of himself that he thinks he can be the world champion at this stage in his career, Matt Marquee, go against the man who was the very first CSW Champion and almost won the tag team titles with Steve Boz, none other than the ever popular Doug Simmons. He did shine in spots, but there was no way he was going to over power one of the most muscular men in the world, and just as he had done in previous matches with veterans, he was humbled in this match. Simmons, was at his game on this night and appears to be priming himself for something big. Marquee did well against Doug, but his arrogance led to him making some rookie mistakes and it cost him in the end.
Doug Simmons beat Matt Marquee.
We next saw the Soul Touchaz, Acid Jaz and Marshe Rocket, take on Ryland Foxx's team of Nick Brubaker and Ace Martino. Brubaker was still hot over not winning the Taste Of Gold match and was ready to take it out on the Touchaz. Ace Martino had posed a stiff challenge to the Metra Division Champion 450 in the previous weeks and this time they were ready to make a statement. The way the match went saw the Touchaz have some trouble in some spots against Foxx's team. Their ineffective maneuvering as a team at certain times, which was a shock to ringside observers, seemed to stem from Rocket's over confidence, which no doubt came from his big Taste Of Gold win. Coming out of nowhere, however, was the win by Brubaker and Martino, who never looked better as a team than on this night. After the match, Rocket insisted to Jaz that it was not him that had been a little bit off, with Jaz and C-Red acknowledging his explanation.
Nick Brubaker & Ace Martino beat The Soul Touchaz, Acid Jaz & Marshe Rocket.
In the first of two title matches on this night, the men who were the first-ever tag team champions in CSW, the team of " If Looks Could Kill " took on the current champions, the men who beat them for the belts back in August, Elite Payne. Both former champions did their very best against Hunter Payne and Marco Anthony but it was simply not enough on this night. The " Elite " Marco Anthony orchestrated a strong offense and the raw power of this immense monster, Hunter Payne were too much for Greg Glover and Brian Nelson on this night. There were a few points during the match where " Looks " looked like they were going to take the belts back, but in the end, they will live to see another day. They did strongly enough to warrant a rematch and were in the offices of C-Red at Guerin Prep a week later lobbying for one.
CSW Tag Team Champions Elite Payne, Hunter Payne & Marco Anthony beat If Looks Could Kill, Brian Nelson & Greg Glover.
As the night progressed, we then saw Psycho accompany his man, Austin Roberts, to the ring for his match against the Lucha Libre phenom, Samurai Del Sol. Roberts was making eye contact with his former tag team partner Milo Cash, who was sitting at ringside with a bevy of beauties and also a group of Colt Cabana's most ardent fans. Were we to make anything of this between Roberts and his former partner, or between Roberts and Cabana? Who can tell? On this night, it was Samurai! These two men have two different styles and what was interesting was that you kept watching which style would gain some head way and who would dominate whom. What we saw instead was the two styles going back and forth for much of the duration of the match, so you really didn't get a clear distinction until the expected tenacity of Austin Roberts taking over and he eventually began to brutalize Del Sol. At one point he even ripped the guy's mask off but the referee Steve Hammond stepped in and saved Del Sol from the three identity thieves who ordered advanced copies of the DVD of this event by helping Del Sol get his mask back on and keeping Roberts at bay. Roberts was too much for Samurai at this point, as he looked now to have been too dejected to be effective and the result was Austin Roberts moving ever closer to contention with Willie Richardson.
Austin Roberts beat Samurai Del Sol.
Finally we had our main event! Having wrestled all over the territory for the better part of the decade and having visited both TNA and the WWE at different times in their careers, both area main stays had fought each other earlier in their careers with neither man being dominant over the other. They finally ended up at the premier wrestling promotion in the region with Willie " Da Bomb " Richardson winning the CSW Heavyweight Title on November 5th of last year. On November 18th of this year, he was following the stunning Faith to the ring to meet another legendary figure in the Midwest, Steve Boz. These two fought a scientific match at first before Boz surprised Willie by switching to a stiff style. Both men beat each other into a delirious state and took each others finishing maneuvers. Just when both men looked like they would faint from exhaustion, and just when it looked like these two men who respected and actually liked each other were on the very verge of hating each other, Austin Roberts joined his old Nightbreed partner Hunter Payne and Marco Anthony in attacking both Boz and Willie with Boz trying to cover the champ to keep him from being fatally injured as it seemed they were trying to destroy his facials structure. The CSW Commissioner C-Red then came to the ring and was trying to keep his anger under control, as the group of jerks had ruined a classic main event. Faith and the others in attendance were motioning for him to do something when he brilliantly booked them all to rip each other to shreds at the December 9th Toys For Tots show at the Pyramid Club in Addison, Illinois. Any non-compliance was about to result in mass firing and the thought of being forced to work for some rinky-dink promotion in Tenessee was enough to allow for cooler heads to prevail and order was quickly restored.
