Full Results Thanks to Mr. Jimmy D.
Pro Wrestling BLITZ held the second annual King of Joliet Friday December 2nd, 2011 at the VFW Hall in Joliet. This was the last BLITZ show in this building, and featured not only the 8-man single elimination tournament, but also the BLITZ debut of Chavo Guerrero Jr. and the return of Al Snow.
Before the opening contest, "Latin Lover" Tony Rican and Mike Horning threw out Holiday gifts to the crowd.
Match 1 (King of Joliet): "Walking Aphrodesiac" Matty Star (w/Rinaldo Piven) vs. "The Urban American Dream" Willie Da Bomb Richardson. Matty showed some unexpected guts at first by standing up to the 295lbs Richardson, but after bouncing off the big man on a cross body block attempt, the Walking Aphrodesiac quickly changed his demeanor. Starr turned the tide by pulling the ref in front of him as Richardson charged the corner. Willie stopped and moved the ref out of the way, but the Elite member raked his eyes and took control. Matty hammered down on the big man from the Soul of America, but then missed a quebrada. Willie surprised Starr with the Pounce for the win and to advance to the semi-finals in 6:55.
Match 2 (King of Joliet): Kenneth G. Lewis vs. Mike Horning The former fun loving Gilbert Lewis showed a total 180 in aggression, going at a shockingly fast pace and being downright vicious (obviously due to his new affiliation to Steve Stone’s The Stone Temple), throwing the Joliet native Horning off his game. Lewis went for the move formerly known as the Square Root, but Horning countered with his German Suplex for 2. Horning set Lewis up for a superplex, but was shoved off. Lewis dropped down on him and pinned him with his feet on the ropes in 4:54, advancing to the semi-finals.
Match 3 (King of Joliet): Zach Thompson (w/Rinaldo Piven) vs. "Beer City Bruiser" Brandon Blaze Blaze showed early he wasn't taking the youngster lightly when he slapped him super hard across the face after avoiding a vertical leapfrog. The Beer City Bruiser looked like he was trying to make quick work of Thompson, hitting high power moves like a powerslam and a pumphandle backbreaker. Blaze set up for his Death Valley Driver, but Rinaldo Piven got on the apron and pulled Zach down, allowing him to dropkick Blaze to the floor. Piven laid some forearms into Brandon as he was drapped over the guardrail. Back in the ring, Blaze battled up from a chinlock with a little help from Joliet's "Beer!" chant, then countered a frankensteiner attempt with a sitout powerbomb. Blaze hooked a Texas Cloverleaf, but Piven pushed the ropes so Thompson could reach them to force a break. Piven got up on the apron, but Blaze caught him and held him by the tie. Thompson got up though and used the distraction to hit an enzeguri and a shining wizard to get the win in 7:05 and advance to the semi-finals.
Match 4 (King of Joliet): Dysfunction vs. Hardcore Craig Dysfunction stalled and stalled to the point where the ref seemed eager to count him out, to which Craig protested. Craig finally got ahold of Dys, threw him to the floor and atomic dropped him across the guardrail. Back in the ring, Dys kicked Craig going for a back body drop and got 2 with a running one-legged dropkick. Craig countered a back body drop attempt with a sunset flip, but Dys caught him flush with his double foot stomp. Dys wishboned Hardcore and kicked him low, but missed a 2nd rope double foot stomp attempt, which looked to have shocked an ankle or knee. After both men got up, Craig ducked a clothesline and hit the Hardcore Hangover, but Dysfunction fell to the outside. As Craig reached over the ropes to pull Dys back in, he was met with a pipe to the throat, forcing the ref to call for a disqualification in 9:18, sending Craig to the semi-finals. Afterward, Dys nailed Craig with his pipe, then proceeded to trap Craig's left ankle in a steel chair. Dysfunction came down off the 2nd rope with his double foot stomp right onto the chair, which he dedicated to Aaron Rogers, then blasted the chair with the pipe. Tony Scarpone made the save to temporarily chase off Dys. Hardcore wanted to walk out on his own accord but made it to the aisle before his leg couldn't support him any longer. Dysfunction came back and attacked Scarpone with the pipe and chair, and was going to do the same stomp to the ankle trapped in a chair he did to Craig when a tall man with long hair stormed in from the crowd to break it up as Dys fled the scene. Security came in and took away the audience member. Scarpone laid down the challenge to Dysfunction for January 28th: Fans Bring the Weapons...in a STEEL CAGE!
Match 5: "Latin Lover" Tony Rican vs. "Mexican Warrior" Chavo Guerrero Jr. There were lots of “Eddie” chants in this one, but no shortage of support for Rican either. As one would expect with someone as good as Chavo, the veteren controlled the pace of the match and kept Rican grounded. Rican hit a suplex for 2, but Guerrero leveraged him through the ropes to the floor. Chavo borrowed the photographer's camera and took a still shot of The Latin Lover laid out. Chavo hit his signature slingshot headbutt from the apron and the back drop driver, but Rican kicked out of both. Guerrero started going after Tony's leg, even wrapping it around the post. He went for the 3 Amigos, but on the 3rd one, Rican was able to counter out and hit his Annexation of Puerto Rico, but didn't go for the pin. Rican went to the top, but missed his impressive Phoenix Splash. Chavo ascended the ropes and put Rican away with the Frog Splash at the 11:56 mark. Afterward, Chavo thanked Rican for the match and lead the crowd in an Eddie chant.
After intermission, Barry Ryte reminded Joliet how he beat cancer and added that no one else in the audience would be strong enough to go through what he went through. He said next month, he starts the Warrior Challenge.
Match 6 (semi-finals): Zach Thompson (w/Rinaldo Piven) vs. Hardcore Craig BLITZ officials and the doctor from Elite Rehabilitation Institute tried to persuade Craig from continuing in the tournament, but Craig being Craig, he refused and the match was on. Thompson, naturally, immediately went after the knee. Anytime Hardcore looked to mount some offense, Thompson went right back to the knee to secure the advantage. Craig got his other foot up as Thompson leapt from the 2nd rope, but the veteren's knee couldn't hold the weight when he went for the Hardcore Hangover. The ref used his discretion and called for the bell at 2:22, saying Hardcore Craig couldn't continue. Zach didn't let up on the attack, but Tony Rican made the save.
Match 7 (semi-finals): Kenneth G. Lewis vs. "The Urban American Dream" Willie Da Bomb Richardson Before the match, Lewis got the mic and said his savior Steve Stone was right, he really doesn't need the fans. Kenneth attacked Richardson on the outside during his enterance, throwing him into the steps then rubbing his eyes across the top rope. Willie caught Lewis coming off the 2nd rope with an inverted atomic drop, then in merely 49 seconds, Willie Da Bomb put Lewis away with the Pounce to advance to the finals. It must be noted that Lewis's hand appeared to be under the bottom rope during the pin, justice for the way he beat Mike Horning earlier in the night.
Match 8 (Finals): Zach Thompson (w/Rinaldo Piven and Matty Starr) vs. "The Urban American Dream" Willie Da Bomb Richardson No sooner had Willie beaten Kenneth G. Lewis, Thompson and Matty Starr stormed the ring and began the attack. Willie ducked a double clothesline and gave them both a clothesline of his own, then flattened Matty for the 2nd time in the night with the Pounce. Willie hit a big elbow drop off the 2nd rope on Zach for 2. Thompson low bridged Richardson on a charge to send him to the floor. Zach kept the ref busy while Starr got some retribution by kicking Willie's leg and throwing it into the steel guardrail. Thompson continued to work on Willie's leg back in the ring. The Urban American Dream looked like he was about to make a comeback, but his knee fell out from under him when he landed on a vertical leapfrog. Zach made the mistake of getting in a fist-a-cuffs with Willie, and ended up on the business end of a Pounce which sent him to the outside. Richardson didn't want the ref to count Thompson out, and instead pulled him up by the hair to the apron and set up for a suplex. Starr and Rinaldo Piven grabbed Willie's feet as he suplexed Thompson back in, causing Richardson to fall backward and Thompson to land on top of him for the win at the 9:05 mark to become the 2011 King of Joliet. BLITZ Champion Ryan Slade joined the Elite's celebration as Rinaldo demanded that since Thompson was the king, Joliet fans were his peasants and they needed to bow to him.
"Simply Ravishing" Ryan Slade stuck around to tell the crowd that although Al Snow does get a shot at The Elite since Rikishi's team won the Ring Wars match last month, they never said which Elite member Snow would face. He said Joliet probably wants to see him put up the BLITZ Championship in a match with Al Snow tonight but instead, Snow's taking on Elite member and high-profile male model Ashton Vuitton.
Match 9 (Main Event): Ashton Vuitton (w/ BLITZ Champion "Simply Ravishing" Ryan Slade) vs. Al Snow (w/Head) Before the match, Snow got the mic and said after he beats Ashton, he's coming after Slade and the BLITZ Championship. As the match got underway, Snow could not keep his focus on his opponent and seemed more concerned with making sure Slade didn't get too close to the action. Snow chased the champ around the ring and met up with Vuitton's dropkick when they got back in. Snow battled up from a headlock and hit a back suplex, then draped Vuitton over the top rope and had hold of his feet while giving him a swift kick in the stomach. Snow went for the pin, but Slade pulled the ref out of the ring. Snow went for Head, but the ref caught him, and the distraction allowed Ashton to regain control. Vuitton held the ref's attention while the champ sent Snow hard into the steel steps. Snow again battled up from a headlock and hit the arm trap headbutts. Al went for a backslide but one of their hands got in the ref's eye. Snow went for Head, and moved out of the way when Vuitton came charging with a double ax handle and knocked out Ben the ref. Snow nailed Ashton with Head, but Slade came in and cracked him across the back with a steel chair and laid Ashton across him. Tully the ref came in, but only counted 2 as Snow barely got the shoulder up. Slade held Snow's foot to allow Ashton to hit a DDT for another close two-count. After a series of Irish Whip reversals, Snow accidentally threw Vuitton into the ref, leaving the match with two downed referees. Slade grabbed Al Snow in a full nelson as Ashton got the BLITZ Championship belt. Ashton charged, Snow ducked, Slade got hit with the belt, and Snow then hit Vuitton with the Snowplow as the ref work up to count the pin at the 17:12 mark. Afterward, Al Snow laid down the challenge: him vs. Ryan Slade, January 28th, for the BLITZ Championship. Slade berated Vuitton, saying he screwed up.
