The Cicero Stadium in Cicero, IL played host to a fun evening of Blitz Pro Wrestling last Sunday(Dec. 4th). Former WWE greats Chavo Guerrero, Jr. and Carlito competed on the card and signed autographs and posed for photos at intermission. It was yours truly's first Blitz show and I had a blast. Many Hispanic fans cheered on the two former WWE superstars. Plenty of nachos, pizza & hot dogs to go around for all to enjoy.
1. Barry Ryte vs Kenneth G. Lewis vs Ashton Vuitton
Very good opening bout. The buff Vuitton played hero to the two opposing heels and spent a good portion of the match on defense. The duo of Ryte and Lewis eventually had a falling out as only one could score the pinfall. The crowd roared as dozens of pinfall attempts were interrupted. Ryte would eventually get the duke.
Winner: Barry Ryte
2. Brandon Blaze and Hardcore Craig vs Matty Star and Zach Thompson.
Chants of "Beer! Beer! Beer!" erupted as the beer guzzling Blaze and his hardcore partner made their entrance. The Canadian duo of Star & Thompson along with manager Rinaldo Piven put up a good fight but was no match for the strength of the larger opponents. One of the better matches of the night.
Winners: Brandon Blaze and Hardcore Craig
3. Carlito vs Tony Rican
This was another exciting event. The Puerto Rican son of legend Carlos Colon (Carlito) vs the great Latin sensation of Blitz (Rican). Carlito has the experience of being in multiple Wrestlemanias but the heart and desire of Tony Rican wouldn't allow him to be destroyed in his hometown area. Rican took most of the physical abuse but always bounced back and scored a near roll-up victory. The signature apple of Carlito wound up being spat in Rican's face. Tremendous effort by Rican as Carlito scored the "W".
Winner: Carlito

4. El Gringo Loco vs Barry Ryte
Ryte performed double duty. The masked flyer provided a boat load of offense on Barry. Loco and Barry would trade off moves and kept a solid pace. The cheating of Ryte with the tights would be the factor in this bout.
Winner: Barry Ryte
5. Willie "Da Bomb" Richardson and Mike Horning vs Machine and Ruff Crossing
Another physical match that saw Horning take a beating at spots. "Da Bomb" was on his game and teased a moonsault at one point in the match. Willie was no fool as he leaped off the apron to clobber both his adversaries. The crowd was not disappointed as local favorite Richardson and his partner Horning took home the winners share of the money.
6. The Blitz Champion Ryan Slade w/ manager Rinaldo Piven vs Chavo Guerrero, Jr.
All fans of every ethnicity in attendance cheered as the music of one Chavo Guerrero, Jr. blasted throughout the stadium. Chants of "Ashton Kutcher" by the crowd towards manager Piven got a laugh from Chavo himself. Slade and Chavo had a great match. The champion avoided the classic Three Amigos by grasping the top rope before the third suplex. A distraction by Piven cost the former WWE Cruiser Weight Champion the win.
Winner: Ryan Slade
* Chavo would blindside Slade after the match and finally complete the Three Amigos trilogy. A frog splash as the cherry on top. Piven even took a shot from Chavo. Guerrero would then take the mic to thank all those for attending. Chants of "Eddie! Eddie!" echoed throughout the venue. Chavo displayed what a class act he was.
* Hats off to the two ring announcers. Andre and a Spanish-speaking announcer were the masters of ceremony. Unfortunately I never got the Latin announcer's name. Hopefully someone in Blitz will provide it. The first half of the show had Andre making introductions in English followed by the other announcer in Spanish. During the second half, the Spanish announcer spoke more English and turned into a jerk like Michael Cole. The feuding ring announcers deserve props for their entertainment value and making the show more enjoyable.
* Blitz returns in January to Joliet. Check the upcoming show section of this website for more details. I enjoyed my first Blitz show and hope to make it back sometime in 2012. Blitz is worth checking out if you never have been to one of their shows.
