The Elburn Community Center in Elburn, IL once again played host to NAPW (North American Pro Wrestling) last Saturday evening (5/12/12). Former ROH/TNA star Homicide headlined this great show. It was nice that pizza was back on the food court along with hot dogs, fresh cookies & candy. After a tremendous show and crowd support last month, this show was just as good.
I'm going to go out of character and dedicate this result column to the late William C. Rush. He was the father of a close friend of mine. He passed away last week at age 76. A long time "wrasslin" fan who attended a couple of NAPW shows in Elburn late last year. Unfortunately his ailing health prevented him from attending NAPW shows in 2012. He enjoyed the shows and thought they were a lot of fun. Mr. Rush told me it was good wrestling within a short distance. He wasn't a big fan of the city.
NAPW rookie Sutton Impact played the role of master of ceremonies. "The Articulator" Steve Kenton wasn't one hand this evening. Only major loss was no Kadance Kelli. The NAPW fans can live without Kenton but not the beautiful Kadance. Senior official Johnny Swift was announced as referee to his usual warm "boos".
1. Seven-Man Rookie Gauntlet. All seven men surrounded the ring before the opening bell. A drawing was held backstage. The first two participants would start the match. Once a fall was determined, the loser would leave ringside and the winner would challenge the next contestant until all seven men compete. The last man standing is declared the winner and receives a bonus match later that evening against "Irish" Andy Anderson.
A) Alex Bernadino vs DOJ (Department of Justice)
DOJ dumped his raggedy prison uniform type outfit for a nice blue & white colored tights. The popular Bernadino opened the bout with a headlock and a shoulder block. Alex staggered the big man with kicks and chops. A flying knee rocked DOJ. Bernadino was caught into an old fashion bear hug. The mammoth DOJ wore down Alex. A huge splash almost gave DOJ his first NAPW victory. Alex bounced back with a sweet Russian leg sweep. Bernadino attempted to slam the much larger DOJ who ended up falling on his smaller opponent for the win.
B) DOJ vs The Sea Man
The masked Sea Man nailed DOJ with a series of dropkicks. Sea Man attempted to suplex the larger DOJ only to be suplexed instead. The tiring DOJ was caught into a sunset flip.
C) The Sea Man vs Cousin Eddie
The hillbilly was caught by a take down and two excellent dropkicks. Cousin Eddie recovered to deliver a Samoan drop that almost scored him the duke. The two nailed each other with stiff shots. The Sea Man attempted another sunset flip only to have the larger Cousin Eddie cave in on his chest. A win for Eddie.
D) Cousin Eddie vs Aaron Xavier
The returning Xavier received a chop to open the bout. A shoulder tackle and clothesline rocked the big hillbilly. The speed and quickness of Xavier made it tough on Eddie. Xavier made a cardinal mistake and received a backwards suplex. Cousin Eddie displayed his version of the late Earthquake and squashed Xavier.
E) Cousin Eddie vs Jack Carpenter
Carpenter was at ringside holding up a sign protesting the Gauntlet match. Cousin Eddie hip-tossed Carpenter and nailed him with stiff shots. Eddie attempted another Samoan drop only to be countered into a crucifix pinning combination. Cousin Eddie escaped the defeat only to be captured into a second Carpenter crucifix.
F) Jack Carpenter vs Texas Pete
The popular Pee caught Jack with a series of dropkicks and rough punches. Carpenter delivered a double knee in the corner to Pete's gut. A hard suplex almost gave Carpenter the "W". The two adversaries began fighting over Jack's blue hard hat. Carpenter accidentally got conked on the head and Pete earned the pinfall. Carpenter would throw a tantrum afterwards.
Winner: Texas Pete
2. Justice Jones vs Hardcore Craig
This was a match up of power and strength. The two powerful men locked up only to have Jones get his beard tugged by Craig. Their was some trash talking on both ends. They nailed each other with massive shoulder blocks and Jones was yelling like he was King Kong. Craig nailed a flying clothesline off the ropes. Many stiff shots were exchanged. Jones flattened Craig with a Samoan drop. Craig rocked the building with a thunderous super-plex off the top rope. An F-5 by Hardcore Craig would seal the tomb on Justice Jones.
Winner: Hardcore Craig
3. Duce Trey (Doug Simmons) vs #1 Cameron Jacobs vs Derek St Holmes, ESQ
Doug Simmons came to ringside sporting some African outfit that he found in some attic. He was acting like Faarooq of the old Nation of Domination. Trey complained of all the racial profiling. He said that he was pulled over for the color of his skin (Simmons is Caucasian). Ring announcer Sutton Impact (African-American) delivered sharp, dirty looks to Duce.
The triple threat match finally began with Trey being double teamed and tossed out to the floor. Jacobs echoed throughout the venue that he was #1. The crafty Derek caught Jacobs with a nasty chop to the chest. Holmes nailed a double-arm suplex on Mr. #1. Duce Trey attempted to climb back in the ring only to get knocked off the apron again. The veteran Holmes delivered a head scissors and a front face lock to the younger Jacobs.
The crowd was behind Derek in this bout. It was the best match of the first half of the show. Trey entered the ring to receive a Jacobs bulldog. Derek took the fall onto the floor. There were near a dozen pinfall attempts. Trey caught Jacobs off the second rope with an excellent German suplex. Trey ended up catching Holmes into a backslide for the pin.
Winner: Duce Trey
* Derek attacked Trey after the match sending Trey racing back to the locker room. Derek focused his attention on Jacobs. "The Classic Heel" known as Jacobs proclaimed himself #1 and left ringside. Hats off to all three men.
Intermission
4. Texas Pete vs "Irish" Andy Anderson
Pete was finally getting a chance for revenge on his former partner. The showboating Anderson was on the floor taunting the crowd. A baseball slide by Pete rocked the Irishman into the barricade. Pete bounces Anderson's head off the ring post. They brawled around ringside. The sneaky veteran caught Texas Pete with a low blow entering the ring. Anderson scores with a huge knee lift and delivers the classic rope burn to the face. A near small package by Pete almost ends the contest. Plenty of punches, blows and kicks for everyone. The Irishman delivers a Russian leg sweep. Anderson pulls off a Vader bomb off the ropes and pulls Pete up before a count of three. Anderson hits another Vader bomb only to have Pete kick out. A missed corner splash is the downfall by Anderson as he gets rolled-up by Pete.
Winner: Texas Pete
5. Ravishing Ryan Kross and Loverboy Jeff Luxon (The Midnight Express Reboot) vs the rookie sensation Anthony Antonelli and "The All American/The Massive Mountain" Michael Mack
The popular Italian teams up with the powerful "Massive Mountain" to brawl with one of the dominant teams in the Midwest in the Reboot. This was a great match. The crowd was into this match supporting young Antonelli and jeering the members of Reboot.
Antonelli and Luxon began for their respective teams. They traded off headlocks and Antonelli almost scored an early roll-up victory. Plenty of great mat action was displayed. Luxon reverses a side headlock but receives a hip-toss by Antonelli. A tag from both ends is made sending in the powerhouses of each team.
Ravishing Ryan locks up with the mammoth Mack. Headlocks are exchanged and Mack powers Kross down to the ring. Both members of Reboot go outside the ring to re-group. The powerful Mack tosses his partner on both members of Reboot.
Antonelli gets double teamed and suffers a five to ten minute beating. Kross slams the young rookie stomach first onto his knee. Luxon tightens things up with a classic abdominal stretch. Kross nails an impressive leg drop. The huge tag is made with Mack nailing both Reboot members with clotheslines. A huge fall away slam sends Luxon outside the ring. A groggy Antonelli stupidly makes a blind tag and attempts his famous high cross body off the ropes. Luxon pushes Antonelli off the ropes and Kross delivers his inverted piledriver. A rookie mistake made the difference in this war.

This was an excellent match. The entire locker room cleared for this one. Most of the talent viewed this match from the balcony. the crowd cheered for the local hero in Thomaselli. The Latino Legend in Homicide gave the champion a huge lesson in mat wrestling and street fighting.
Trash talking and arm bars opened the title match. Tons of mat action early on as the challenger was out-maneuvering the champion. Usually Thomaselli is in control early on but he's in there with a much bigger name. Pauly regroups with a shoulder tackle. Homicide catches the champion with a near roll-up. Chops get exchanged. An attempted bulldog by the challenger turns into a backwards suplex by the champion. A shocking moment came when Pauly attempted a double-arm suplex. His knee buckled out connecting into Homicide's jaw. The champ almost scored a pinfall. The Latino star missed a splash off the ropes. Pauly, in excruciating pain, nails his backbreaker onto his knees maneuver. Homicide, the veteran that he is, barely gets his foot on the rope to halt the three count. The exhausted champion manages to catch his deadly opponent in a quick powerslam. The 1-8-7 of Homicide goes down for the 1-2-3.
