*** Abu Colossus & Hype Gotti won the vacant PWP Tag Team titles by defeating The American Bulldogs and Cheap & Dirty’s Team Lariat in an elimination 3 way dance! Team Lariat was first eliminated by The Bulldogs, leaving the two fan favorite teams to battle it out for the titles. In the end, it was Gotti & Colossus getting the win. This is historic for the fact that while Abu Colossus has been in PWP for all 8 years, since the beginning, and is a former PWP Heavyweight champion, he has never been a Tag Team champion…until now! Gotti is now a former PWP Heavyweight champion, and a two time Tag Team champion. It will be exciting to see how these two PWP legends compete together as a team!
*** Michael Monsoon then came out to give a demonstration of……“Yokozumba”, which is his patented workout routine. Monsoon asked for a volunteer from the crowd to teach the routine to. Apparently the young man he chose did a little better than Monsoon expected, as he then mercilessly attacked the kid, and left him laying in a heap.
*** Darren “Thunder” Russell defeated “Super Duper” Jimmy Rockwell. Russell got an impressive win here, besting one half of The Heroes for Hire. Afterwards, Vic Victory came out and took the microphone. This was the first we’ve seen or heard from Vic since last year. He explained that in 2012, he suffered some severe issues with his heart and chest, and was told by doctors not to wrestle any more. He spoke about the partnership he had with Darren as The Heartland Foundation, and addressed turning on him a year ago. Vic said it was Darren who carried him through their partnership more often than not, and apologized. Vic offered Darren his hand, to which Darren seemed reluctant to accept, but ultimately did. And then after an embrace, it was clear that there was no deceit here, and that Vic was sincere. As these two put their differences aside, the crowd cheered for Russell, as they also said goodbye to Victory, in a heartfelt moment.
*** Cheap & Dirty’s “The Passion” Zac James defeated Darin Corbin and Joey Daniels w/ Axel Greece in a triple threat match. Before the match, Zac pointed out that he is undefeated at PWP’s Anniversary Spectaculars - which is true, and actually called himself “The Undertaker of PWP”…..well much to the chagrin of the PWP faithful, Zac picked up the win, and kept that undefeated streak alive, for at least another year.
*** Cheap & Dirty’s Branden Juarez defeated “The Anarchist” Arik Cannon. This was a hard fought, back and forth bout. The fan favorite Cannon nearly had the match won, when Juarez scored the cheap win, while grabbing the ropes for leverage.
*** “The Omaha Chainsaw” SM King defeated Leslie Ray. Both these men have been on impressive rolls in PWP, especially Ray who was undefeated since coming back to PWP last year….until this night. King picked up the big win, ending Ray’s winning streak. Ray was visibly upset and frustrated after the match.
*** Derek Cornell defeated “Showtime” Bradley Charles in an excellent matchup. Two of PWP’s top competitors squared off here, but it was Cornell who scored the victory over SBC. After the match, SBC got on the mic, and stated that it didn’t matter that he lost the match, as he is a former PWP Heavyweight champion, and holds a guaranteed future shot at the title, which he intends to recapture.
*** Sean Cruz defeated Cheap & Dirty’s Preston Maxwell in a career ending I QUIT match!!! The only word that comes to mind to describe this match is…WOW. These two gave everything they had in this match, where everything was on the line. These two have been in a vicious rivalry for many months, and absolutely destroyed each other in this bloody brawl. At one point, while brawling on the floor, a TV monitor that was mounted near the ceiling came crashing to the floor, and nearly crushed Cruz’s skull! No matter how much punishment these men endured, neither man would say the words “I Quit”. Late in the match, Maxwell went to the back, and returned with a bag of thumbtacks! Maxwell attempted to powerbomb Cruz onto the tacks, but Cruz countered with a back body drop, sending Maxwell right onto them!! Cruz then locked Maxwell into his Rings of Saturn crossface, leaving Preston with no escape, and no choice but to say “I QUIT”!!! And because of the extra stipulation on this match, it means that Preston Maxwell’s wrestling career has come to an end!!
*** Matty Star defeated “Simply Ravishing” Ryan Slade to retain the Pro Wrestling Phoenix Heavyweight title! These two have had such a classic rivalry in PWP, that has produced some amazing matchups, and this one was no exception. After the match, as Slade made his way to the back, he was yelling at Matty that this will never be over, and that he will never be rid of Slade. Slade’s claims aside, Matty Star remains the man on top of the PWP mountain!!
