Crowd for show was pretty good. Didn't overwhelm 115 Bourbon Street, but with so many people at the bar, it allowed me to sit and enjoy the show. More than last month, certainly.
The booking wasn't a massive problem. The talent did some stuff that really got on my nerves. Granted, I was in the minority, but as a long time fan, there was some stuff I didn't care to see.
I like the Hooligans. Look fat, but have some athleticism. I don't mind Bucky being the manager. I do mind Bucky getting on the mic during the match, taking my focus away from the beatdown the Hooligans were leveling. Could have waited for after the squash.
Like Tony Kozina or not, he knew he wasn't going over, so he didn't try to kill himself in the six-man. A veteran move. Candice LaRae is over, mostly cause she grabs men in their junk and suplexes them over their head. She's not the biggest woman in the world, so that move needs some suspension of disbelief. Her doing it to two men at one while Matt Cage had a fireman's carry was just insulting my intelligence, but it popped the crowd. Lyndon was the right call, and not a ton of flippiness.
Kay & Lovelace took it to the floor, and it looked pretty brutal, if I could have seen it. Some of the in-ring spots featured too much delay and some off timing.
Christian Faith & Markus Crane went about 7 minutes. In that time, Faith put Crane in the post, in the barricade, they brawled into the bar, and Crane got chokeslammed onto the stage. Yet, I barely recall Crane selling his back, at all. Roaring elbow winner.
Joe, Josh, and Kingston did very good promos. Josh showed his neck X-ray/MRI, which makes me wonder why he's actually doing this. Kingston is either having therapy or making a suicide message. Joe IS PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING.
CJP has improved so much and looks like a player. He didn't need to take shots a Trip, but nobody blamed him. He and Page worked OK.
Silas & Hollister wasn't as good as I hoped for, but it was good to see Shane back, and the post-match beatdown by Cage & Scarlett, mixed in with Lyndon tapping out Faith, will move the feuds forward. That was good.
Matt Cage's theme song makes me pump my fists.
OI4K's new look was really needed. Zero Gravity needs to learn from that and stop relying on the flippy stuff. 20 minutes was way too long for this, and ZG's dives and dives don't mean a lot if I don't care about the guys personally. Gakiya hit the Kazarian wave of the future on Dave Crist off the top. It only got 2. I gave up. Tombstone/stomp finisher. ZG needs to be split or given a personality transplant. They've kinda ran their course.
Ciampa is a psychopath, but tries to get Davey to hug him. I don't get it. Make up your mind. Davey just kicked him low. Not a lot of stiffness, but they tried to wrestle and get over with the crowd through personality and story. Learn, young workers.
I could have used a intermission at this point. None was given.
Jones vs. Boz was nothing. Jones smashed the guardrail with a chair, setting off two fans at ringside who threw beer at Jones. The woman flashed him, too. Security? Security? PJ Drummond was looking like he was about to intervene.
I should have like Sabin-Gargano more, but I was about asleep.
Main was pretty good, if not filled with risky moves. I had no clue why Alexander laid down last month, but this result allowed him to win the title, get heat back on Joe, and allowed rematch with Kingston down the road since Josh didn't pin him to win belt. Confetti was a nice touch, and Ego's douchebag behavior foreshadows a heel turn. Possibly.
Fix the minor stuff, and this would have been a better show. I don't know if that falls on the wrestlers, whoever plays the agent role, or the booker, or all of them. This was a good effort, but last month was impossible to top.
