Mindful Baking, The Chunky Scones, and GALLI Lucha Libre proudly present LUCHA VEGAN!!
We would love to cordially invite you to an exciting new event that we hope you will want to be a part of—an event we are calling Lucha Vegan! And yes, it does involve wrestling!
Lucha Vegan is a concept that The Chunky Scones and Mindful Baking started working on prior to the COVID-19 pandemic a couple years ago and it was not until today that they were able to bring it back to fruition. The concept is born out of their love for wrestling, specifically lucha libre which is a Mexican style of wrestling which can include more acrobatics and masked luchadores than conventional wrestling. In a way, luchadores represent heroes that fight against evil on whatever shape or form that it may represent itself.
Some time ago, when black and white movies played in Mexican TV, masked luchadores like El Santo and Blue Demon would join forces to fight against werewolves, vampires or aliens who wanted to cause harm and enslave humanity.
In that sense, luchadores, to this day, still represent a force for good in the our psyche. It is in this junction where veganism and wrestling connect since veganism calls for the end of animal exploitation in all its forms; whether is for animal consumption, for recreational use or for economic purposes. Lucha Vegan makes it one of our goals to create consciousness while using popular culture to create a more powerful impact on people.
With this short intro we want to welcome you to our 1st Lucha Vegan event where we will have a fully vegan market, live music by local artists, and live lucha libre with local and international wrestlers!!
Lucha Vegan will be taking place on Sunday, November 5th, from 12:00 PM to 11:00 pm at a unique and beautiful venue called Artifact events located at 4325 N. Ravenswood Ave, Chicago, IL, 60613. By day, the event will feature a 100% vegan indoor market filled with amazing food & drink options—as well as vendors selling their creations such as body care, jewelry, clothing, art, and more—all with a backdrop of live local music.
The evening will bring the main event—a wrestling match brought to us by Galli Lucha Libre—a local promoter who presents a hybrid combination of traditional Lucha Libre and American Wrestling to give fans the best of both worlds.
