United Wrestling Association, 02/02/06 Alcoa, TN. Show Results
Over 400 people attended the UWA Ricky Morton Benefit Show held Feb. 2 at
Green Acres Flea Market in Alcoa, Tennessee.
The highlight of the evening was the match between “Phenomenal” A.J.
Styles
and “The Prince of Punk” Shannon Moore. The contest was a coin toss from
start to finish as both wrestlers made several near-pin falls. At one point
Moore tried to utilize a steel chair, but it backfired as Styles folded the
steel chair and threw Moore’s face into the seat. Moore was accompanied to
the ring by Lollipop, and the diva turned out to be more of a hindrance than
help. Lollipop made her move to intervene and was thrown into Moore by
Styles. Moore was then setup for the Style Clash for the 1-2-3.
Although there was some great wrestling to be found that night,
wristlocks
and headlocks were nowhere to be seen in the Rocky Top Street Fight pitting
Dr. Tom Prichard (with Ercules) against Jeff Anderson. It was anything goes,
and fans were encouraged to give the combatants weapons. The only way to win
the match was to take your opponent to the outhouse and stick his head in
the toilet. As the match started, Prichard brought in a “Texas” bull rope
and Anderson brought in a trash cans full of weapons and slop. Prichard
attempted to use the rope on Anderson but the “Wild Man” from Rocky Top took
it from the “Doctor of Desire” and beat him with it unmercifully. Anderson
took the trash can full of slop and poured it on Prichard’s head. Anderson
knocked Prichard down and gave him the elbow while the trash can was still
on Dr. Tom’s head. Anderson then took the can off and used it to hammer
Prichard in the skull. Prichard eventually made a comeback and used the tape
from his wrist to choke Anderson. Prichard finally released Anderson and
received a tennis racket from Ercules. With a demonic smile on his face,
Prichard set the tennis racket on fire and blasted Anderson in the head with
the blazing weapon. It looked like the end for the man from Old Smoky but
Anderson got a second wind before Prichard could put him in the outhouse.
Anderson, bleeding from his head profusely, fought Prichard tooth and nail.
Once Dr. Tom was weakened, Prichard picked up a guitar and smashed it over
Prichard’s head. Anderson dragged the unconscious Prichard into the outhouse
and stuck his head in the toilet, winning the Rocky Top Street Fight.
Anderson might have been covered in a crimson mask, but it didn’t stop him
from celebrating his victory with the fans as “Rocky Top” blared from the
speakers. Long after the celebration ended, Prichard emerged from the
outhouse with his face covered in a foul-smelling black substance.
It was shades of Andy Kaufman as Shane Mathews (accompanied to the ring
by
The Terrorist) defended his X-Division Southern junior heavyweight title in
an inter-gender match against diva Crystal White. Mathews did not take his
opponent seriously when the contest began and toyed with her. The
mischievous grin on Mathews’ face was quickly wiped off when White caught
him with the head scissors. Embarrassed and enraged, Mathews took a page out
of Ike Turner’s book and began to get exceptionally rough with White. While
Mathews argued with the official, The Terrorist used the Pakistani flag to
choke White. The diva persevered and once again caught Mathews off guard,
this time using a cross body to obtain a two-count before Mathews
desperately pulled his shoulder up. Burning akin to a house on fire, Mathews
rushed at White but was immediately put into a sunset flip. Mathews escaped
the three-count by grabbing the ropes to break the pin. The X-Divison
Southern champion showed he was a bad sport when he gouged White’s eyes and
pulled her by the hair. White refused to be bullied, and surprised everyone
when she body slammed Mathews and then gave him a monkey flip. After that,
Mathews was ready to use any means necessary to keep from being humiliated
and losing his title. Mathews cued The Terrorist to be ready. As Mathews
prepared to whip White into the ropes, The Terrorist (standing at ringside)
turned his back to the ring. White reversed the whip and threw Mathews into
the ropes. As this happened, The Terrorist, who still had his back turned,
grabbed Mathews’ foot (although he had intended to grab White’s foot).
Mathews was barely able to keep from falling. Mathews was livid and shoved
The Terrorist, asking his what he was doing. While Mathews was yelling,
White got behind him and used a schoolboy to get the upset win via pin. The
crowd went wild when White won the title. As for Mathews, he just went away
as quickly as possibly after losing his title to a woman.
Cassidy Riley, of NWA TNA fame, teamed up with “The King” Shane
Williams.
The duo took on Brad Thomas (protege of Ricky Morton) and Dillon Eaton (the
son of Bobby Eaton). Riley and Williams had trouble in the beginning.
Williams accidentally hit Riley twice. Riley got up in Williams’ face and it
seemed as though he was ready to crown “The King”. Williams shamelessly
begged for forgiveness, and Riley decided to give him one more chance.
Riley’s mercy was soon rewarded. At the end of the match, Riley took care of
Thomas on the outside while Williams wrestled Eaton in the ring. Riley snuck
back into the squared circle and planted Eaton with a DDT. Williams covered
Eaton for the win.
The Barbarian battled Maestro in a match that resulted in a
disqualification. During the contest, The Barbarian caught Maestro with a
boot. The Barbarian left the ring and came back with a steel chair. He swung
the weapon at Maestro, but Maestro ducked out of harm’s way, causing the
chair to ricochet off the top rope and land on top of the head of The
Barbarian. Maestro covered his opponent but the referee, Speedy, was not
there to make the count; Speedy was busy arguing with the Barbarian’s
manager. Maestro grabbed the manager and pulled back to deck him. Maestro
was stopped when he was hit in the back with a chair wielded by The
Barbarian. Speedy called for the bell and awarded the contest to Maestro via
DQ. The Barbarian took his frustration out on Maestro, hitting him
continuously with the steel chair.
The four-corner match turned out to be a true crowd pleaser. The teams
were
“Mr. Showtime” Jim Miller and Jerry Lee, Angus and Magnus (with the diva
Cotton Candy), Domino and the legendary Gypsy Joe, and Steel and The Cruise.
It didn’t take long for this one to get out of control. Domino and Gypsy Joe
dismantled Steel and The Cruise on the outside, while Miller pinned Magnus
in the ring to win the match.
It was girls, girls, girls as Hailey Hatred fought Naudia in a
Lumberjack
Match, featuring divas (and their male managers) surrounding the ring.
Hatred suplexed Naudia to get the three-count. All of the divas got into the
ring and a full-fledged catfight ensued. The ladies soon ceased fighting
amongst themselves and focused their hostilities towards the two male
managers. After the men were thoroughly beaten, the women piled up on top of
them as the referee made the count. The official then declared the divas the
winners. But truth be told, wasn’t everyone that watched this match a
winner?
The final round of the UWA Tag Team Tournament featured Pack members
Regulator Steel and “Killer” Dilinger (with Greg Cage) against ECB
Championship Wrestling’s “Sexy Boy” Lance and Lynn Storm (with Cotton Candy
and Big Daddy Boo). The referee tried to break up the brawl on the outside
between Storm and Dilinger. Cage used the distraction to The Pack’s
advantage, and used one of the tag straps to smash Lance on top of his head.
Steel covered Lance to win the tag titles for The Pack.
The Original Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condrey) wrestled
the
Thunder Valley Express (Chris Gorgeous and Jason Thunder). The Midnight
Express could not resist using a tennis racket to get their shots on TVE,
resulting in a disqualification. TVE soon turned the tide, but the momentum
was put to an abrupt halt when “Sweet Emotion” Tony Prichard ran in to save
The Midnight Express. Prichard told TVE their days were numbered as he left
the building with Eaton and Condrey.
Shaun Shultz took on “Alabama Armor” Adam Armour. Shultz stunned the
crowd,
and his opponent, when he gave Armour a power bomb off the top rope. Shultz
immediately covered “Alabama Armor” for the 1-2-3.
Pack member “Mr. Excitement” Charles Long, accompanied to the ring by
Pack
bodyguard Greg Cage, combated the masked man known as Menace. Long was in
trouble but got by with a little help from his friend, Cage. Long was at the
ropes when Menace tried to pull him for a rollup. However, Cage grabbed
Long’s arms, preventing “Mr. Excitement” from being rolled over. Long sat
down on Menace as Cage continued to hold on “Mr. Excitement’s” arms for
leverage. The referee didn’t see the teamwork involved and made the count.
Long and Cage rejoiced in their underhanded victory, while Menace left in
disgust.
NWA TNA star Chase Stevens defended the UWA heavyweight title in a
three-way dance against Jake Manning and Dave Pillman. Stevens retained the
title by pinning Manning.
“The Boss” Terry Wright, C.M. Sigmon, Mike Ogle and “Filthy” Rich Kavana
won over Zane Davidson, K.C. McKnight, Charlie Dreamer, and Troy G. McKnight
went to catch Wright in the monkey flip. Wright sidestepped the move, and
tripped McKnight. Wright, with his feet on the ropes, covered McKnight for
the 1-2-3.
The team of Bobby Houston, Lance Stark and Tracy Smothers defeated David
Young, K.C. Thunder, and L. Storm.
Robbie Race and Devon Drake won over the Guererros.
