PWP Fans, "Shoots & Ladders" is in the books - here are your official results:
Paul & Joey, The Daniels Brothers were successful against the team of "Sensational" Sean Cruz & Matty Fitness. Cruz seemed to have a little new found confidence in his protege, Matty, but still - they came up short to the red hot Super Daniels Bros.
"The Passion" Zac James came out on top in a very hard fought, and hard hitting contest with # 1 Brett Young.
The exciting young highflyer from the Australian Outback, Dingo, made his PWP debut against Tyler Pride - and what a debut it was! In the end, Tyler came out on top, and the two men ended things with a handshake. To say that these two tore the house down would be an understatement!
The NWA Mid-West X Division Champion Jaysin Strife, won an incredible matchup against Babyface. These two men are arguably the two most popular men in PWP - and the crowd was extremely hot for this one - even giving up dueling chants for these two competitors. In the end, Strife scored the win with a small package. These two also respected the unwritten code of honor, with a handshake. After the bout, Strife called attention to the young man who was wearing the stripes for the evening. Strife asked the kid his name, to which he replied, Victor. Strife told everyone how since PWP started, one year ago - Victor has been training - setting up and tearing down the ring, setting up chairs, doing camera work, and now even reffing - but that none of those things are what he truly wants to do. Strife then asked, "What you really want is to be a wrestler, right?" - Victor nodded, and then Strife made the following challenge, he told Victor he had one month til the next PWP show - one month to train harder, longer, and faster - to get his gear, and to meet him in the middle of the ring. And so, the match is made - on Friday, May 26th - Jaysin Strife will take on the young man, whom we only as Victor, and then, we will see what this kid has to offer.
Chris Havius, accompanied by the beautiful Adrenne Rose, was victorious in a very hard fought, and exciting 3 way dance, over Mark Sterling and Corwin Star. All three men gave it their all to top their opponents. The match saw Star go to superplex Sterling, while Havius positioned himself to simultaneously powerbomb Star, resulting in a huge "tower of doom", which got a loud "PWP" chant from the crowd. In the end, Sterling had Corwin locked in the sharpshooter, when Havius nailed Sterling with his Killswitch, and then delivered the Chokebreaker to Star.
Mason Hunter was able to overcome the odds, by defeating both "The Rebel" Jeremy Wyatt & Steven J. Girthy in a handicap match. Before the match began, Girthy pointed out that Wyatt was undefeated in PWP, and provided that his streak not end in the following match, he should get the next shot at the PWP Title. In the end, the proud member of the US Air Force, Hunter, picked up the win, by pinning Girthy. Jeremy Wyatt then got on the mic, saying that since HE still hadn’t been defeated, that he still deserved the next shot, and challenged the winner of the evening's ladder match for the PWP Title.
In the main event of the evening, Hype Gotti retained his PWP title in a ladder match against "Showtime" Darrien Sanders. This was an extremely heated, and brutal matchup, that saw both men go to extreme lengths to win. Just as Hype was about to grab the belt, Jeremy Wyatt attacked him, as he and Showtime laid down a beating, and then dragged him to the corner to handcuff him to the ring post. As the two men attempted to cuff the champion, they pulled away, only to realize that somehow, Hype had handcuffed them together, around the turnbuckle. Hype was then able to climb the ladder, and retrieve his title. Hype ended the night celebrating in the ring with his partner Babyface, while the fans cheered wildly.
On this night PWP was also very proud to welcome, wrestling legend, Mad Dog Vachon. Mad Dog addressed the crowd, sharing a few memories from his amazing career, and received a standing ovation, as well as a chant of "We're not worthy".
It was also announced, that in the month of May - Pro Wrestling Phoenix will be turning one year old - and we plan to celebrate in style! We will be having TWO shows, on TWO nights! Friday May 26th & Saturday May 27th - and headlining on both nights - TNA & ROH Superstar.......ALEX SHELLEY!!!!!!!!
